  1. I think Braun was poised to take over as ROY candidate anyway, but it is a little unfortunate to see Pence go down. It could dampen what was otherwise a pretty awesome rookie class (in both leagues).
  2. Had anybody else heard this rumor? I also heard it got squashed the moment Sheets went down, but it was nearly done.
  3. Klements' chorizo doesn't even taste like traditional South American chorizo to me. I don't even like it. It tastes like a plain, unseasoned sausage with 10% chorizo mixed in. However, I was a South American-style chorizo fan before Klements embraced it and mixed it in to the sausage races, and tried to make it mainstream/marketable to Americans, so I guess that would qualify me as a "chorizo-snob".
  4. 03 A: .280/.366/.326/.692 04 AA: .243/.312/.311/.623 05 AA: .271/.370/.338/.708 06 AAA: .300/.360/.396/.756 07 AAA: .258/.315/.288/.603 I personally see a drop-off more than something that's in-line with his career numbers. And it's pure speculation, but I couldn't imagine his '07 AAA performance trend to continue as it was, as he's never performed so poorly.
  5. Madison also had the Hatters (Cardinals) as recently as 1994 playing in the Midwest League. So this rule either had to have been put in place since then, or it's total B.S. P.S. What's that smell?
  6. Bummer, I was hoping for Tony to come out red hot.
  7. They are drafting a lot of 200+ (big) kids.
  8. The quality of baseball is not a "joke" (I have called Warner Park a "joke" though - which it is). I'm not a fan of the league, as I prefer a professional brand of baseball, but for a league that's been around since just 1994, and based in and around Wisconsin (of all places), this is a long list of big leaguers: * Jeremy Accardo, Alexandria Beetles, 2001 * Clint Barmes, Kenosha Kroakers, 1998, Waterloo Bucks, 1999 * Joe Bisenius, Duluth Huskies, 2003 * T.J. Bohn, Brainerd Mighty Gulls, 2001 * Mike Burns, Brainerd Mighty Gulls, 1998-1999 * Matt Cepicky, Waterloo Bucks, 1997 * Jermaine Clark, Kenosha Kroakers, 1995 * Chris Demaria, St. Cloud River Bats, 2000-2001 * Andy Dominique, Kenosha Kroakers, 1995 * Jeff Duncan, Waterloo Bucks, 1998 * Andre Ethier, Rochester Honkers, 2002 * Dave Gassner, Wausau Woodchucks, 1998 * Jay Gibbons, Manitowoc Skunks, 1996-1997 * Tom Gorzelanny, St. Cloud River Bats, 2001 * Tim Gradoville, Waterloo Bucks, 2001 * Curtis Granderson, Mankato Mashers, 2001 * Jack Hannahan, Mankato Mashers, 1999 * Justin Huisman, St. Cloud River Bats, 1998 * Casey Janssen, Wisconsin Woodchucks, 2001 * Jimmy Journell, Waterloo Bucks, 1997, 1999 * Bobby Kielty, Kenosha Kroakers, 1996 * Ian Kinsler, Madison Mallards, 2002 * Mark Lowe, Wisconsin Woodchucks, 2002-2003 * Jay Marshall, Rochester Honkers, 2002 * Paul McAnulty, Mankato Mashers, 2001 * Pat Neshek, Wisconsin Woodchucks, 2000 * Wes Obermueller, Wausau Woodchucks, 1995, Waterloo Bucks, 1996-1997 * Val Pascucci, Rochester Honkers, 1998 * Juan Pierre, Manitowoc Skunks, 1996 * Robb Quinlan, Dubuque Mud Puppies, 1996, St. Cloud River Bats, 1998 * Erasmo Ramirez, Kenosha Kroakers, 1995 * Mike Rouse, Brainerd Mighty Gulls, 1999 * Shawn Sedlacek, Dubuque Mud Puppies, 1996 * George Sherrill, Kenosha Kroakers, 1997 * Ryan Spilborghs, Madison Mallards, 2001 * Jeff Weaver, Dubuque Mud Puppies, 1995 * Josh Willingham, Austin Southern Minny Stars, 1998-1999 * Robb Quinlan, Dubuque Mud Puppies, 1996, St. Cloud River Bats, 1998 * Ben Zobrist, Wisconsin Woodchucks, 2003
  9. Call me bitter (because I'm a taller guy), but I've always contended that it's easier to sport those large, compact looking muscles when you're really friggin' short. A 6'4'' wingspan for example takes a lot more work to look that way. One guy that looked big that comes to mind is Jeff Bagwell, no way was that guy his listed 6'.
  10. http://members.tripod.com/bb_catchers/catchers/tingley.jpg When I hear these guys names, I usually receive a vision of an old baseball card. Well, I couldn't believe when I Googled his name and clicked on the Images tab, that the actual card I pictured was there.
  11. I propose someone market a Prince Fielder Burger. --
  12. Is there a leadoff hitter in baseball with bigger pipes than Rickie? -- Bold prediction for 2006: JJ will hit .300.
  13. ^ Hilarious. He reminds me of John McGinley (Bob Slydell on Office Space). Is Turnbow available tonight? --
  14. Prince made 61 PAs in Milwaukee this year, and we're worrying about 13 PAs in Arizona? I don't know, but I think Milwaukee is a better sample, and that did just fine for me.
