  1. But as somebody said earlier, it all evens out. If we were playing the Red Sox at home their pitcher would've had to bat and they would've had Youkilis, Lowell or Ortiz on the bench for every game. I don't believe it evens out. To me, there is hardly a difference between an NL pitcher hitting and an AL pitcher hitting. But the difference in the DH's is much more drastic in my opinion.
  2. I agree that the very existence of the DH is at teh root of certain fundamental differences (both subtle and gross) between the leagues, but I didn't see anything so unfair about this weekend. Did you see how many runs David Ortiz drove in this weekend? It's possible the Brewers take 2 out of 3 if the Red Sox also had to use some backup utility player as their DH like we did. Some of those homeruns and clutch hits would be extra outs that would end rallies sooner. NL rosters don't have those type of players to plug into their lineups for interleague games.
  3. It's time that Major League Baseball bans the DH during ALL interleague games regardless of where they are played. The advantage that Boston had with David Ortiz was ridiculous. Even when AL teams play in NL parks, the NL teams don't have any advantage because most pitchers still stink at hitting. I am very upset about this because this teams like Boston and NY already have enough of a financial advantage. But to basically allow them to have another big-time slugger makes it even worse. I don't like these rules at all. Bud Selig, are you listening?
  4. I'd say 5-5 is the most likely. 6-4 and we'll here that the Brewers are finally putting it all together. 4-6 and the Brewers have obviously given up. They just need to make sure they get one against Boston and I think it'll be OK. LOL, that's sort of true. It's funny how the difference between 6-4 and 4-6 could be nothing more than a borderline pitch being called for a strike instead of a ball.
  5. I'll settle for .500 But I have a bad feeling that people will be calling for a new manager by the time the dust settles from this road trip.
  6. Is there a rule that our closer always has to walk someone?
  7. Thank you for starting this thread. This issue has been bothering me for so long. The manager needs to wake up and force Weeks to bunt more often. There is no excuse to not be bunting when you have blazing speed but are hitting less than .200. I don't understand what is going on here.
  8. Very classy of the fans to show their support for Gagne. It's also great to see Suppan, Bush, and Villanueva do better. Let's keep it going now. BREWERS WIN !!!! http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b273/AJAY_02/BrewersFlag3.gif
  9. Best wishes to Brewers PA announcer Robb Edwards and his family. http://milwaukee.brewers.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080513&content_id=2693419&vkey=news_mil&fext=.jsp&c_id=mil
  10. Nice to see the Brewers show more life offensively. Hopefully this can get them going a little more. BREWERS WIN !!!!
  11. I am so ready to see Joe Dillon take over at third base. I have NO idea why management doesn't appreciate what he brings to the plate. I know Bill Hall hits some occasional homeruns, but this team really needs better at-bats. I like Bill Hall as a person, but I just don't feel his style of offense is a good match for what this team needs. The Brewers MUST find a way to get Dillon playing time ahead of guys who aren't producing regularly. I think Bill Hall should go back to being a super-sub. He had more success in that role. Playing everyday hasn't worked out too well for him. I was actually calling for Dillon to play ahead of Jenkins last year. I am still convinced we would have gone to the playoffs had our management made the move sooner. By the time they figured it out and started Dillon, it was too late. I hope they don't make that same stupid mistake again. title edit: 'cause this seems to be as much about Hall as Dillon --pogo
  12. "You guys know me. I take a long time to analyze things. I give everybody the benefit of the doubt and try to make the decision that's best for everybody. I don't make rash, quick, off-the-handle decisions." Maybe we need to hire someone who can figure things out FASTER. It took Yost over a year and a half before he figured out that Chad Moeller was terrible. It took him way too long to figure out that Joe Dillon was a better option than Geoff Jenkins. It takes Ned a long time to figure out when Turnbow doesn't have his good stuff. For someone who is paid to be an expert, that's completely unacceptable.
  13. I give him credit for showing accountability. I actually felt bad for him as I heard him speak on the radio. It's been a rough stretch for him since going to Boston. I appreciate his honesty. It's better than the usual garbage we hear from Ned about how everything is fine.
  14. I am just really sick and tired of this franchise not making any progress. It took us two whole years to climb from 81 wins to 83 wins. I am sick of streaky hitters who swing for the fences and can't slap the ball the other way when you need a single. I am tired of the lack of fundamentals. I am sick of Gwynn and Dillon sitting on the bench while guys like Hall get to play everyday. I want more quality at-bats and our manager is just way too loyal and patient to guys who won't ever get it done enough. I am losing faith in Doug Melvin a little too. He doesn't appreciate the value of guys who can make contact and get singles. The Gagne contract is making me sick. This team still never bunts even if the other pitcher is mowing us down. I don't get it. I am still angry that Ned cost us the playoffs with his incomptence last season. I will never forget that. He should have been fired mid-season last year. I just want a real shakeup now. Enough already.
  15. I was at the game tonight and I spent the first 8 2/3 innings fuming mad and swearing that I would never follow this team again. I thought of the 26 years of misery and questioned why I even put up with this. I would have literally gone crazy on the venting thread tonight. Anyway, by the time it was over, I lost my voice yelling and screaming in excitement. Can't wait for tomorrow.
  16. Oh yeah . . . require everyone with speed to bunt at least once every four games. Especially when the opposing pitcher is embarrasing you.
  17. Bench Bill Hall. Let Joe Dillon start at third base. We need quality at-bats now more than ever. Jeff Weaver anyone?
  18. The opposing pitcher is mowing everyone down, yet nobody tries to bunt their way on. I don't understand this.
  19. http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b273/AJAY_02/BagHead.jpg BOOOOOOOOO !!!!
  20. Suppose the Brewers hired you as a consultant and asked you to speak with individual players, coaches, and front-office staff. What advice would you give everyone? Here are my thoughts . . . Rickie Weeks - (1) Try for more bunt singles, take advantage of your speed (2) Stop waggling the bat and keep your hands still and quiet, (3) Lock yourself in a room for 48 hours and do nothing but watch video of Paul Molitor hitting at the plate. Swing more with your wrists and less with your arms.(4) Steal more bases. Run any chance you get, (5) Never take strike two, (6) Swing at the first pitch more often if it's good. Overall, be more aggressive. Prince Fielder - Have some chicken, steaks, or burgers. I admire your concern about how animals are treated, but I am more concerned about the millions of fans in Wisconsin who have not seen the playoffs in 26 years. You can save the cows after your career is over.. Ryan Braun - Swing at strikes, take your walks. Watchout for the sliders that are low and / or away. Bill Hall - Aim everything to rightcenterfield. Think opposite field. Shorten the swing with two strikes. Eric Gagne - THROW STRIKES, QUIT WALKING PEOPLE. If you continue to fail, give back some of that money. Get on the mound and throw the ball instead of adjusting your pants, fixing your hat, pacing around, and wiping your forehead. Develop an "eye of the tiger" insead of showing us that lazy and uninspired body language.Watch Ben Sheets and look at how he gets right on the mound and is ready to throw. Corey Hart - Keep doing what you are doing. But also steal more bases. J.J. Hardy - ???? (I have no idea) Ned Yost - (1) Switch up the batting order, try Corey Hart at lead off, drop Weeks lower in the order, (2) Quit being so positive and rosy all the time, acknowledge when there are problems, tell it like it is instead of defending everyone all the time, (3) HIT AND RUN MORE OFTEN, (4) Since our closer is not dominating, let the 8th inning guy pitch the 9th if his stuff looks good. You don't have to always bring in a closer if someone else is doing well. (5) Consider starting Joe Dillon at third base. We need better quality at-bats from this team. Doug Melvin - (1) Hire Terry Ryan as a consultant, and start acquiring baseball players instead of softball players. (2) Appreciate and acquire more of the little guys who know how to handle the bat. We need more guys like Kevin Seitzer, Jeff Cirillo, Fernando Vina, Mark Loretta, etc. Don't be so enamored with sluggers. (3) Trade Matt LaPorta for young talented arms. Pitching wins, (4) Only give out big contracts to impact players and not guys like Suppan and Gagne. Mark Attanasio - Please hire someone to re-paint Miller Park and remove that drab olive color. Get a nicer shade of green and bring some color to the ballpark.
  21. The Derrick Turnbow situation reminds me a lot of the Chad Moeller situation. Everyone in the fan base knows he stinks, but the front office can't figure it out.
  22. If I were an Indians fan, I would rather let Chief Wahoo pitch instead of putting Turnbow on the mound.
