  1. I heard about Leyva on the radio today, and it seemed almost comical. I don't recall too many bad decisions by the third base coach this past season. In fact, I don't remember any. I don't know what his other responsibilities were or whether there may have been personality differences, but it just seems comical to let Leyva go but somehow Yost gets to stay despite all his severe mismanagement. It just seems silly to me.
  2. To me, a professional hitter is someone who you trust at the plate to have a high probabibility of doing whatever is needed in that situation. I would say someone who works the count, has a high on-base percentage, can be trusted to make contact when contact is really needed, capable of drawing a walk, someone you don't mind leading off an inning, and someone who you can trust during a hit-and-run. It's a combination of the players' stats, their approach, and whether or not people have confidence in him when he steps up. Maybe someone that opposing pitchers also dread facing when it matters.
  3. Hey Hey Chicago Whaddya Say . . . The Cubs Are Going To Get SWEPT Today !!!!! http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b273/AJAY_02/Broom.gif CUBS LOSE !!!! GOODBYE !!!!
  4. Very classy letter by Mark Attanasio. I personally appreciate stuff like that.
  5. Nice job by Arizona. Let's hope it's three and out for the Scrubs.
  6. It's time for Carlos Marmol to start getting rocked. He has been way too lucky this season. I hope the workload catches up to him now.
  7. By the way, I am not crazy about putting Ned on a "short leash" for next season. I would rather fire him now and give the new guy the whole offseason to watch video of the team and learn about these players. I also think they can sell more tickets if they market the new manager as the guy who will put this team over the top.
  8. Interesting how the national media just assumes that the Brewers can't be happy with Yost. It is so obvious to everyone else how badly Ned handled things this season. Joe Torre's name comes up as a possible replacement for Ned in this article. It's time for Yankees to reward Torre
  9. So the Cubs, Diamondbacks, and now Rockies manage to turn crappy 2006 seasons into playoff seasons in 2007. WHY CAN'T WE EVER DO THAT ???????? Weren't we expected to better than all those teams? Why does our rebuilding go so slow ?? UGH.
  10. I read somewhere that the Brewers will be going to Fenway.
  11. Open at Wrigley vs. Cubs on Mon. March 31 I pray dearly that there are no championship ring ceremonies involved.
  12. I was at the game and I had tears in my eyes when Jenkins was lifted and got that well-deserved rousing ovation. It was overwhelming. I want to thank him for always playing hard and being proud to be a Brewer. If there was one wish I had, it would be for him to be in the postseason as a Brewer. I really wish it could have happened this year. Who knows what the future will bring. But I wish him well and thank him dearly.
  13. Interesting comments from Drew Olson of Onmilwaukee.com . . . Some Brewers fans may be even more disappointed to see Ned Yost back in the dugout next season. Despite a somewhat tepid vote of confidence from owner Mark Attanasio and general manager Doug Melvin this week, there are some in the organization who believe that Yost is not out of the woods. We at Saturday Scorecard believe that Yost will return in '08, but will be on a very short leash. If the team doesn't play well in the first half, he could be replaced.
  14. Seeing the fans wave the rally towels looked really cool and added some excitement. How often as a Brewers fan do you get to experience that "big game" feeling of being on national television and fighting for the postseason? Kudos to the ownership for doing the little things. The Phillies had them in their park too. Who cares if there was no logo or advertising on the towels. The effect in the ballpark was really neat. Baseball Tonight on ESPN showed clips of it and they were talking about our great fan support this season. It made for good TV at least.
  15. Accoring to the NY Times, Ned Yost's wife Debbie asked him if he had lost his mind after he chose to plunk Pujols instead of focusing on winning a crucial game. http://www.nytimes.com/2007/09/29/sports/baseball/29brewers.html?ref=baseball
  16. So what did we accomplish this season? We showed Tony LaRussa and Albert Pujols that we are tougher than they are.
  17. I really wanted Jenkins to see the playoffs in a Brewers uniform more than anybody. But he has nobody to blame.
  18. It doesn't even feel like we will win 82 this year. That season when we won 81 games, I think the Cardinals and Astros both had over 90 wins. The division was so much tougher back then, and we still performed better despite less talent than this team.
  19. Yost was just shown on TV saying you have to back your players. Ned, do you really think the players want to be playing golf next week? How about backing the fans who waited 25 years and spent so much money on this team?
  20. Well, I have officially lost all interest in making it to the playoffs. The manager absolutely disgusts me, the bullpen disgusts me, and the front office is starting to frustrate me by tolerating this idiot manager. The players all know there is a problem and it's disappointing that they are all remaining silent like obedient little sheep. Maybe I am emotional right now, but my anger at this game is overshadowing the disappointment of virtually being eliminated for the 25th season in a row. Congrats to the Cubs. It really doesn't bother me now. I am more angry at Ned than I am heartbroken. If the manager and front office doesn't care, then it's hard to feel for them. They should have fired that moron Yost a long time ago when it was clear this wasn't working. I also want to vent on the media. We constantly were told that there is more second guessing because there are more bloggers, websites, chat rooms, and sports radio talk than before. We were told that more people are watching now and that is why there is more criticism. We were told that hindsight is 20-20. We were told that the manager is a genius when the moves work and goat when it doesn't work. We were told that it's a long season of ups and downs. We were told that we were spoiled by the hot start. These are all lies. We all saw the problems clearly and it's a shame that nobody paid attention and took us seriously. The fans aren't dumb and now it's becoming even more obvious. It just really makes me sick when the people in the stands seem to have more of a clue than the guy in the dugout running the team.
  21. HOW THE HELL DOES TURNBOW WALK MIGUEL FREAKING CAIRO AND KELLY FREAKING STINNETT?? Because that's what Turnbow does. If we had a competent manager who understood this, there would have been a pitching change. I mean, every person in Milwaukee knew he would walk in a run. But the guys who are paid to be experts couldn't see the red flags. They just kept him in there. That's why we aren't going to the postseason.
  22. Ned doesn't seem to like us very much. From JS Online . . . . "There was no Internet or this other stuff they have today, with the dissection and the message boards and everything where every pitch is dissected nine different ways, and the people who really missed their calling and should have been major-league managers," he said.
