Our only chance in this one is to chase Wheeler somewhat early and get to the Phillies bullpen. We’re not going to do anything against Wheeler. Cubs are looking to sweep their doubleheader today. Yuck.
What is it about Gasser that the Brewers don’t like? They’ve had numerous opportunities to bring him up throughout the year and have passed every time. He’s 24 years old and has had a very solid year. Not sure what the Brewers are waiting for at this point.
I’ve been advocating for Black to be a September call up but even I’ll admit he just hasn’t been the same hitter he was earlier in the season for a good month now, maybe longer.
I’d like to think playing those teams will be different in September. By then, they will have completely given up, they’ve already traded veteran guys at the deadline and are playing for a higher draft pick. We can only hope…
Chourio’s bat has been relatively quiet the past few weeks but he did pick up a hit and his 80th RBI of the season. Just one homerun shy of 20 on the year.
Black certainly makes sense. He can platoon with Monasterio at 3B and serve as a pinch runner late in games. I just get the feeling they’ll want to go with a more veteran guy like Miller or Winker.
Obviously I’d love to sweep or win 2 but even if the Cubs take 2, they’d only gain 1 game. So just don’t get swept. This series makes me nervous. We’re playing really well right now but so are the Cubs and that crowd is going to be amped up knowing the Cubs have some ground to make up on the Brewers.
