  1. Wish I had said it this way. ^ BRAVO! It is a truly bizarre statement to make. So he was facing a lifetime ban? Did they also put a gun to his head and tell him to accept the deal or else?
  2. The fact that he was on the team in the first place.
  3. I've read through this thread and am a little confused. I see a fringe MLB prospect here. He can only play 2B and he isn't a plus defender. He doesn't provide speed as a starter or as a potential pinch runner. He doesn't have any power and he doesn't make up for it by having a high walk rate. He is a career .300 hitter in the minors, but hitting .300 in the majors is a completely different story. He certainly does not look like a potential starting caliber player, and he has little value as a bench player given his lack of defensive versatility and his lack of speed. He also has little value as a bench bat. He looks like the type of guy that will spend most of his career in AAA as organizational depth. What am I missing here? I read that some compared him to guys like Counsell or Eckstein, but those guys could play SS. It is a completely different story if you are that level of player and can only play 2B at an average level.

  5. Compared to Out of the Park Baseball?
  6. Prince isn't talking about it, and neither are any of the players or coaches. Call me crazy, but I think we have more important things to focus on.
  7. Especially when it is a change up/sinker (or whatever Marcum calls it).
  8. I'm having a really hard time believing Green is a rookie considering how he has hit in his 8 ABs.
  9. My impression? He looks like Skeletor. http://mlblogsbabrewer.files.wordpress.com/2010/11/roenicke_31.jpg?w=250&h=263http://www.twocoppercoins.com/images/skeletor.jpg
  10. He's not a big game pitcher. Not sure I understand the sarcasm. If today isn't the definition of a big game, where the team behind us in the division is about to sweep us at home, I'm not sure what is. My exact quote when I raised the question earlier was: "Anyone else worried that Yo might not be a Big Game pitcher? Any evidence to the contrary that isn't coming immediately to mind?" Like I said, off the top of my head I don't recall him pitching in a big game where he has gone out and been a stopper. Now maybe it is because we haven't been competitive for most of Gallardo's career and he was hurt a majority of 2008 but I think it is a reasonable question when one of our "aces" gets outpitched by a rookie in a series such as this. Can you look up all his "big games" and show how he has done, or do you just want to post speculation?
  11. It is also very possible that "pressure" had nothing to do with it and we simply lost some games to a team that isn't all that much worse than us. Baseball is a funny sport because people constantly try to read so much into the results over only a couple of games. It is an excellent, continuous example of the "hasty generalization" fallacy. It is similar to poker in that regard.
  12. Is there a lot of evidence to show he's a lot worse in these "Big Games" compared to his career stats?
  13. Because he was an obvious upgrade over Yuni. For me, it has less to do with how he has performed against us and more to do with how much better he is historically than Yuni. It's just even more painfully obvious when he crushes another HR in the series and Yuni cost us the 1st game in the series with his pitiful bunt. I mainly just wanted Furcal for the massive defensive upgrade. Even if he hit poorly, he'd still be an upgrade overall because of his range and outstanding arm.
  14. I refuse to believe this actually happened since Gamel failed in limited PA with the Brewers. So after tearing up AAA all year in his first season at that level, what is he? An afterthought? Do you think his prospect ranking will jump dramatically after his year in AAA?
  15. I can't stand Yuni. I'll be so happy when he's off the team. I know many people here didn't want Furcal for whatever reason, but even if he wasn't hitting well for us his D would have been a massive upgrade.
  16. You are assuming rookies can't produce in the playoffs. Why is the BA of the Giants important?
  17. I think Greinke agreed to come to Milwaukee because of our overall young talent base that had the ability to contend. It wasn't just Prince. We should still be quite good next year because of our starting pitching and some upgrades to our position player roster.
  18. Yes to Greinke but no on Marcum. I don't believe Marcum will be very good in the middle of that contract. I would rather just take the picks for Marcum assuming there is still compensation then. Why? With his intelligence and variety of pitches combined with a truly nasty change up he should be effective well into his 30's.
  19. I definitely don't see us signing a veteran 1B. We can't afford it assuming we want to extend our pitchers (as danzig pointed out), and we don't need one anyway. We'll have our 1B and 3B positions sorted out with McGehee, Gamel, and Green.
  20. Using a fancy new MLE calculator that can factor in the parks a guy plays in in the minors and in the majors. http://mlsplits.driveline...all.com/mlsplits/mlecalc Plugging in Green this year gets us .292/.361/.484 Of course, I realize Gamel has proven that a player hitting well at AAA means he'll suck in the majors.
