  1. Hey guys, thanks for all the responses! Paul - I believe there is a dish on the house already (it's more of a flat than an actual apartment building) but I haven't looked too close to make sure it is or isn't, or if it's even on the place I'm moving in to. Thanks for reminding me to check with the manager before if I do decide to go that route. theavrock - Thanks for the info on dtv! I think I might be leaning towards doing the directv route and figuring out what to do about it when the time comes to move out and then going with the TWC internet connection. As far as I can tell, Uverse still isn't available in the area I'm moving into - a couple blocks off of Brady St.
  2. I have a question for those of you living on the east side of Milwaukee. I'm moving into a new apartment August 1st and I'm having a hard time trying to decide where I should go to for cable and internet service. I don't really like the offer Time Warner has with their bundle package, as $90 for a decent package seems steep? Also, it seems like every place for a good cable package wants to lock you into a 2 year commitment, which I highly doubt I'll be living in this apartment for more than just the year lease. I see Directv is offering half off the first year in a 2 year commitment, would I be able to move that to another location if I move, or would it have to stay at the address I'm moving in to? Does anyone know what kind of cancellation fees they would charge if i discontinued it after a year? Any info on this would be extremely appreciated! Thanks! After looking more, I'm thinking about the $35/month offer from TWC for internet and going with the $30/month offer from Directv and hope it works out with the 2 year deal. Does anyone have any pros or cons on any of these services or would recommend one over the other?
  3. Hello All, I currently play in a weekend softball league that consists of two divisions, a Saturday and a Sunday division, that is played behind Riverside High School, in which you play the majority of your games on the day of the division you play in, but also play a few games on the other day of the weekend, and we are looking for teams for next year. It is a wooden bat league, which makes it a lot more competitive imo and a lot of fun. We also play 9 innings. We currently have 4 teams in each division, but are trying to get back to five teams in each division. I know it's a long way away, but if you're interested send me a PM and I could give you more details and/or the contact info of our league commish. Also, you could come out to the field and check out a game or two if it sounds interesting to you as well, we play at noon and 2:00 on Saturday and Sunday each week.
  4. It seems to me, most of the available cap space this offseason is going to go to all the big stars, and that all of those teams are going to have to try and fill their rosters with minimum salary guys. So, if my economics classes of a few years ago hold true, there will be a bunch of role players available, but not much $$$ to hand out, so I think it's very possible to get a solid backup PG (ridnour or someone else - a little better, a little worse, who knows) for a very reasonable deal, it might not be a 1 year deal, but 2 or 3 years at a reasonable amount would be obtainable i think.
  5. Has Gallardo been starting to throw more changeups? I haven't been able to watch his last 2-3 starts, but I kept thinking to myself earlier in the year, when he wasn't going deep into games, that if he'd just use his changeup, he'd be able to attack the zone more than nibbling as much as he was, seeing the hitters would have to have another pitch to worry about in the back of their minds. Is there a site that shows the pitches thrown by a pitcher each game, as a % of each pitch compared to the total pitches thrown?
  6. Exactly, he's an unbelievably bad manager. So Escobar needs a day off, but Kottaras isn't in there to give Lucroy a day off?
  7. How about $75 for a pair for the Cubs series?
  8. Hello All, I found out I'm going to be out of town all next week, and of course I have 2 tickets for each of the 3 Cubs games on Tue., Wed., and Thur. and the Rangers game on Friday. They are loge infield box tickets and locations as follows: Tuesday, June 8th, 7:10 vs Cubs : Section 222 Row 13 Seats 5& 6 Wednesday, June 9th, 7:10 vs Cubs : Section 214 Row 12 Seats 9 & 10 Thursday, June 10th, 1:10 vs Cubs : Section 222 Row 11 Seats 15 & 16 Friday, June 11th, 7:10 vs Rangers : Section 222 Row 11 Seats 7 & 8. The Cubs tickets are face value $110 for the pair, and Rangers $76 for the pair. I'm going to start by asking $85 for a pair for the Cubs series, and $75 for the Rangers pair. Or, feel free to make me an offer. Either PM me on here, or if it's alright to leave my information on here, feel free to reach me at matthewbrusky@gmail.com or 920-493-8080 is my cell and feel free to text or call me on there. Thanks! Matt
  9. I agree with everything here. All of the infielder's defense would drastically improve if the Brewers had at least an average 1b who was at least 6'2 to have a decent target to throw at, and was able to actually pick a ball like most major league 1b. I don't think I've ever seen such poor performances from a 1b of picking balls out of the dirt.
  10. I was extremely excited about Cain going into last year, the injuries were a big downer, but still had my hopes up for him coming into this season. Am I overly optimistic hoping he could put up a .300/.390/.410 line as the leadoff hitter for the Crew either to start the year next year or at some point in the middle of next year (playing RF after Hart is gone - but that's for another conversation)
  11. I just love that Macha thinks RP are incapable of going more than 1 inning and burns through his entire bullpen after a starter goes 5 innings.
  12. I really hope the Brewers go for a bat in the first round, then load up on pitchers. I just feel like after Jones/Rogers/Jeffress/Arnett ... and Prince/Weeks/Braun/LaPorta/Lawrie, I'd feel a lot better in their judgement taking an impact bat (I know each one has a special circumstance, I'm just generalizing). Then being able to nab someone like Gallardo in the 2nd round, and other pitchers later. I admit I don't follow amatuer baseball as much as any of you, but from what I've read on 5 tool talk, perfect game, and just other misc. sites, I would really like to see them take Josh Sale or Nick Castellanos. Is it possible for a guy like Todd Cunningham to slip to their second pick? If they were to take a pitcher in the first round, I hope it is Solis. I think there's something to be said for pitchers coming from San Diego.
  13. I love that the Twins vs Orioles game is already PPD. for their game tonight, and our A team is playing under a roof in lovely Milwaukee. How ironic.
  14. With Jayson Werth becoming a FA after this season, and 2011 being the last year of Raul Ibanez' contract ($11.5 mil), do you think the Phillies would deal Ibanez for basically peanuts to clear some salary to try and resign Werth? If the Brewers do go the route of dealing Fielder sometime this year, or this offseason, I would kind of like getting Ibanez to play 1b for 2011 especially if it would only cost a prospect in the 15-20 range. I know he hasn't been hitting lights out to start the year, but he had a solid season last year (I know a lot of it was due to his extremely hot start) and he's going to be 38/39 next year, but maybe playing 1B would save him some wear and tear over the season to hit a bit better. Just my crazy idea while waiting for the work day to be over, time for you guys to tear it apart. added in : his OPS+ the past 10 years : 115, 122, 103, 116, 115, 125, 121, 123, 131, and 89 so far this year.
  15. nevermind, yahoo was telling me Wolf was hitting for himself
  16. why wear out Wolf here? can't vargas, parra, or narveson get some innings here? and throw Geret out in RF so he sees the field? or even put Inglett in at 2B for Weeks?
  17. looks like the full size would be $57. Not sure how much you can get engraved on there, or how much S&H would be, and not sure if that's about the price you're looking for but figured I'd throw it out there.
  18. I'm not sure how much this would cost, but I think it would be neat, you could contact Louisville Slugger and have your name and your wife's name engraved into the bats. http://www.sluggergifts.com/
  19. man, listening to Corey on the radio, these two home runs I would have sworn the Brewers hit them the way he got excited
  20. And how come you can swear when you always yell at others for swearing?
  21. I may be interested as well, just depends on what day.
  22. Considering a 4 seed almost assuredly puts them in Milwaukee for the opening weekend (as the NCAA tends to region-protect their top teams in the 'pod' system), the difference between a 4 & a 5 seed could be huge. I don't think this is correct. They would need to move past Purdue to be playing in Milwaukee for the opening weekend. Kentucky is pretty much a lock to be in Milwaukee, as it's the closest site location for them, so they'll have their 1-16, 8-9 teams in their pod here, then Purdue will most likely be a 2, or maybe a 3, so that will slot them in Milwaukee, with their 2-15, 7-10 teams. So basically for Wisconsin to make it to Milwaukee, they need to jump ahead of Purdue, or possibly even Michigan State.
  23. How did you get tickets for the T-Rats game already, jodo23?
