  1. You wouldn't have expected it from Gio though...Anderson...yes, Hauser...definitely... Lyles...would be the most likely, Gio?? No...he never loses his command like this and walks this many guys. Incredibly disappointing...you sweep Pittsburgh, take 2 of 3 against Texas, now give those two games right back..that shouldn't happen...at home. What are you talking about? He averaged 4.21 walks per 9 just last season, he's always walked a fair amount of guys his entire career (3.74bb/9 for his career)
  2. I will tell you what a needle mover is...To me it's a player or players that you acquire, that almost EVERYONE in baseball or associated with baseball in anyway can clearly see by acquiring that player you made your team better for a pennant race, or into the postseason. They are a proven commodity, very consistent in what they do and will make an impact down the stretch...some examples of this...when the Brewers acquired CC Sabathia=HUGE needle mover...do they make the playoffs without him?? Absolutely NOT. When they acquired Zach Greinke=HUGE needle mover. When those two took the mound every night, you felt like you had a legitimate chance to win every night they pitched. You knew they were VERY unlikely to get shelled(it happens to everyone). Examples this year...Greinke to the Stros...that pretty much locks them in as the clear American league favorites to at least get to the World Series, and now with that rotation can go head to head with the Dodgers, easily. Shane Greene to the Braves...model of consistency, night in night out when he closes. he comes in, almost always he will finish it out...=Needle movers. What the Brewers did today are NOT needle moving moves...they can be I guess, but..you hope/wish/cross your fingers that it can. Not enough of an impact for it to be a CLEAR upgrade for anything. especially the rotation. so REALISTICALLY, what did you want the Brewers to do today?
  3. The thing about Grisham that I feel like is a very very positive note moving forward, is that he's always drawn walks his entire minors career. I feel like that really helps translate to the majors, especially now that he's showing the power to go with it - which isn't uncommon for someone to find their power stroke at age 22.
  4. Everyone in AAA is hitting a lot better this year due to the fact they're using the MLB juiced ball this season, but that doesn't take away from the fact that Grisham has put up a 173 wRC+ in his time in AAA. He really does look like the perfect player to take over in LF in 2021, the only problem is what to do with him in 2020. He really shouldn't be the 4th OF, as that would be bad for his growth, but maybe he comes up as the starter if one of the 3 starting OFs gets hurt in 2020 and he could get the DH abs in interleague series. I really hope they don't deal him away at the deadline. Think he finally has developed into what they were hoping when they drafted him, that's what the minors are all about, developing, guys don't automatically put up 1.000 OPS numbers when they're in A, or A+, they're there to hone their skills and turn into what Grisham has finally turned into this year. Glad they stuck with him and that he finally put it all together
  5. we should probably trade him for a SP rental
  6. Packers releasing Mike Daniels. Is this for cap purposes? Seems strange to let go of a pretty productive player, even if he was injured some of last year - the whole defense was hurt last year.
  7. Who? Besides Woodruff. The Brewers have a bottom 10 farm system right now, they don't have a true game changer outside of Hiura, and he's about to graduate off the list anyway.
  8. OnTheBlack, serious question, are you related to Patrick Beverly?
  9. I'll take a stab at what rickh150 is saying. Brian is looking for the next job. He misses A LOT of Brewers games to do other things like March Madness, the NBA Playoffs, and I believe some golf? He's just there to do the Brewers, waiting on a more stable bigger stage to come up, rather than have his fall back being the Brewers games, because they let him leave whenever he wants to do other things. This has become more and more each year. I personally don't like listening to him, I think he comes across as very uppidy, and luckily I live out of market, so I can choose to listen to the other broadcast when watching mlb.tv
  10. CBS Sportsline projection has Cubs 45% Brewers 40% (86.8 wins to 86.0 wins)
  11. Because both Moose and Grandal are free agents after this year, so they can go wherever they would like, the Brewers don't control them. With the seasons' they're having, they're both going to command contracts much higher than what they're making this year.
  12. Seems as though the international scouting department must have found a market deficiency in Venezuela? Pretty incredible looking at that signing list and seeing basically all Venezuela. The Venezuelan MLB player list is pretty incredible though, so not a bad route to take.
  13. After all of the Top 10 round picks have signed ( https://www.mlb.com/draft/tracker/all/team/brewers ), the $$ looks something like: Bonus Value: 5.150M; additional 5% without further penalty: 257.5K = total of 5.4075M Top 10 Round Picks signed for 5.086M; 5.4075 - 5.086 = 321.5K If they don't go overslot to sign Gillis @ 13, wonder if the 321.5K wiggle room + 125k "slot" = 446.5K would be enough to sign (23) Carter Rustad?
  14. and Patrick Beverly signed for 40M over 3 years.....
  15. Bucks looking at Robin Lopez to be Brook's backup
  16. Darren Collison retired, so don't think the Bucks will be picking him up
  17. RE GS and signing Durant: It's because they have a good front office, had cheap deals on their core that was already in tact, and the cap moved up enough where they were able to create room for another max deal
  18. and the Bucks go cheap, trading away Brogdon. this team is not a ECF contender. why give Middleton essentially a max deal if you aren't going to contend?
  19. After signing Brogdon for 64 over 4 years, maybe we can get Beverly for 21 over 3 years too!
  20. I think a lot of the appeal with Hill and the $18M contract, is that the $18M contract is a very valuable asset, teams are always trying to trade for expiring contracts for various reasons, and it would help match up a trade for a disgruntled superstar if such a scenario would appear (this typically happens multiple times a year, either during the season or in the offseason). It's not JUST paying Hill $18M which obviously he's not worth at this point. It's a combo of he fills a great role on the team - which is why the team wants to bring him back, and if the situation presented itself, that expiring contract could/would have been extremely valuable.
  21. Right. That's why I was advocating you free up the cap space to sign the guys who you don't have bird rights to OR try to sign someone else. Patrick Beverly has hit 40 pct of his last 1000 three-pointers. He was harassing the hell outta Kevin Durant on the block and up in Steph's face on the perimeter. He's probably the best defensive PG in the NBA and he can shoot it. So hypothetically, you sign him for ~3/21, you use the rest on Lopez, maybe Morris is willing to sign for the MLE then(NOT using salary cap space as you'd then be at the cap, which I believe is what Ontheblack was saying, but I could be wrong). I don't think that's what we'll actually do. I could see Collison signing. But I don't think we're going to clear any cap space to sign anyone other than Lopez. I think they'll be able to find a veteran PG later on(or use the MLE on Hill, he did say he was more concerned with winning than money when asked). It's been reported Beverly is looking for 3/40, so that 3/21 is not even close to what it will take.
  22. https://www.hoopsrumors.com/2019/06/five-key-offseason-questions-milwaukee-bucks-2.html https://www.hoopsrumors.com/2019/06/2019-nba-offseason-salary-cap-digest-milwaukee-bucks.html
  23. The "chatter" on the interwebs, is that the Bucks and Lopez could sign an extension, then sign Middleton, then sign (or match) Brogdon, and in the meantime, waive George Hill, and at this point Niko is gone. Which, I feel like this scenario has to play out to justify the Snell/30 trade. In the above scenario, the team has 10 guys signed. Bledsoe, Brogdon, DDV, Pat C, Brown, K-Midd, Ersan, Wilson, Giannis, Lopez. What happens next? Seems that the team would have great guard and wing depth, but a little thin up front. How do you see the team filling the roster after this? I'm guessing they would have to sign everyone else coming in at veteran minimum contracts?
  24. So....... that Trent Grisham guy is pretty good.
