  1. going unclaimed by all the other clubs, he is forced to accept the minor league assignment.
  2. his first bout of service with the big league club in 2022.
  3. is there a case to select the contract of josh lindblom? he last pitched saturday, so he'd definitely be well-rested by the time he'd be needed in the rotation.
  4. for the time being, trevor kelley will remain with the club as part of their taxi squad, per tim dillard on bally sports wisconsin. i didn't realize that clubs were allowed taxi squads on homestands, but given that their reserve player pool is no longer working out in grand chute, it makes sense for mlb to allow taxi squads 100% of the time.
  5. five reds players are not vaccinated against covid-19 and were placed on the restricted list: albert almora, jr. ross detwiler brandon drury jason kuhnel tyler mahle these players will be forfeiting major league pay and service time while they are on the restricted list. canada is indeed standing on guard for thee.
  6. as expected today, andrew mccutchen has been reinstated from the covid-19 injured list, and returns to the 40-man roster. the roster is at 38 players.
  7. and that's what happened when mccutchen was activated today. the brewers are back to 13 pitchers.
  8. trevor kelley has been optioned to class aaa nashville. back to 13 pitchers, which will be the limit come 30 may.
  9. a reminder that the brewers are currently carrying 14 pitchers and 12 position players. they are allowed to carry 14 pitchers through 29 may. given the lack of depth on the left side of the infield, my money's on a pitcher going down when mccutchen is activated later today.
  10. if the brewers continue to have 14 pitchers on their roster through 29 may, it's convenient that they have a doubleheader the next day against the cubs. thus, the pitcher that they cut could be kept on hand as the 27th man that day.
  11. the brewers certainly took a gamble in choosing not to protect any players during the offseason from the rule 5 draft, and that draft ended up being canceled. wonder if the brewers, knowing what they knew about collective bargaining chances, figured on the higher probability of the rule 5 draft being a non-factor? at any rate, the brewers haven't had a full 40-man roster since the conclusion of the 2021 season.
  12. worth noting that hiura has yet to spend 20 days on optional assignment this year, meaning that his final option hasn't burned yet. come 30 may, the brewers will be limited to 13 pitchers on the active roster, so there's room to keep hiura after that date.
  13. injured list placements can be backdated three days, and there's an off day on thursday. i'm sure that's factoring in with their decision.
  14. presumably, mejía will be ineligible for postseason play, just as pedro severino is.
