  1. would love to see bianchi have great at-bats against zack greinke tonight.
  2. to add insult to all of mat's injuries, this thread was created in the minor league forum.
  3. keep starting bianchi!
  4. relievers able to be optioned listed here . . . which also includes john axford and mike fiers. also of importance . . . who gets removed from the 40-man roster as it's currently full? taylor green to the 60-day disabled list?
  5. thanks in part to a stellar start last night from marco estrada, the brewers are now tied for the fewest walks issued in the national league. 94 in 36 games.
  6. i know it's hard with aramis ramirez still being eased back in as a regular player, but i'd really love to see rickie weeks benched and jeff bianchi given the shot to see what he can do with some regular playing time. bianchi's hit in the minors . . . let's see what he can do when given the opportunity.
  7. given that mark rogers has been pulled from his rehab assignment, one can speculate that he will not be healthy enough to be activated in the coming weeks. rodriguez, on the other hand, must have his contract purchased by thursday, or the brewers risk losing him to free agency. a 40-man spot would have to be opened for him. taylor green is not on the 60-day disabled list.
  8. smoke inside your house.
  9. i'm sure we'll learn more in the coming hours, but rogers' fifth rehab outing did not go well. he left the game with the huntsville trainer leading him to the dugout.
  10. believe it or not, the brewers still lead the national league in fewest walks issued.
  11. yuniesky betancourt is the other planned backup in the outfield per this report.
  12. as many expected with the return of aramis ramirez, the brewers option josh prince to nashville. per ron roenicke, the brewers bench now consists of jeff bianchi, alex gonzalez, blake lalli, martin maldonado and logan schafer. this move leaves the team a little thin with outfield depth, but with the way that carlos gomez has been playing, and with ryan braun being the kind of player you want in every day, the club should be ok. bianchi might be able to fill a corner outfield spot in a pinch.
  13. as many predicted, jeff bianchi joins the brewers. he is out of minor league options, and having been outrighted to the minor leagues once before, if he is outrighted again, he has the right to declare free agency.
  14. jeff bianchi, scooter gennett and caleb gindl are all in the nashville starting lineup tonight. no other position player in the minor leagues is currently on the 40-man roster. it should be noted that bianchi is starting in left field tonight.
  15. khris davis optioned to nashville. no corresponding move made yet. the sounds just gained some outfield depth.
  16. khris davis optioned to nashville. corresponding move coming.
  17. i just checked to see how his minor league rehab assignment's been going. the results aren't pretty.
  18. rogers began his 30-day minor league rehab assignment on 23 april.
  19. bianchi started his rehab assignment on 13 april. can rehab assignments last 30 days, or is that only with pitchers?
  20. still fewest walks issued in the national league (58 in 25 games), and only five more walks issued than the twins, who have played two fewer games than the brewers.
  21. after last season, doug melvin acknowledged that his hands were tied when the club was unable to demote underperforming relievers to the minors. in 2013, the brewers have a little more flexibility in that they can option some relievers, including but not limited to: burke badenhop, alfredo figaro, jim henderson and brandon kintzler. the brewers have decisions looming on bringing mark rogers and francisco rodriguez up, and assuming no injuries, one or more relievers stands to be optioned or outrighted. badenhop's 2013 salary is $1.55 million, but he has struggled. henderson has given no reason to be optioned. figaro's just a guy who could likely be outrighted and possibly go unclaimed (opening up a 40-man spot). kintzler, just by having two option years remaining, could become a victim (two of his last three outings have not been pretty).
  22. zero brewer home runs from the cleanup spot.
  23. viewtopic.php?f=73&t=29061
  24. until corey hart is activated, those two moves would leave the brewers with only one bench player with outfield experience. the brewers had aspirations of getting bianchi some time in the outfield during spring training, but that never happened with his prolonged injury. it doesn't appear that he's been getting playing time in the outfield on his rehab assignment either . . . which would give one or more of sean halton, cole garner and caleb gindl a rest. the brewers are fortunate to have two guys who at the moment, you want in for all nine innings: ryan braun and carlos gomez. if that trend continues for another month, the brewers can probably get by with only one extra outfielder.
  25. comments from ron roenicke that still keep us guessing on the future of jeff bianchi: as i've stated before, if the brewers keep betancourt and/or gonzalez a full season, they become free agents, and the brewers have to search for utility infielders again in the offseason. if they keep bianchi a full season, they can control him for at least five more years, and not have to risk exposing him to waivers or giving him the opportunity to declare free agency if unclaimed.
