  1. connor sadzeck has been designated for assignment. the club has seven days to try to trade, release or try to outright sadzeck to the minor leagues. if sadzeck clears outright waivers, he reserves the right to refuse the minor league assignment and become a free agent. the roster is at 39 players.
  2. the brewers have sent justin topa on a minor league rehab assignment with the arizona complex league.
  3. jake mcgee signing is official. he has one minor league option remaining, but enough service time to refuse any minor league assignment. it also appears that he has never been outrighted to the minor leagues before. the 40-man roster is at capacity.
  4. looks like jake mcgee has one minor league option remaining, but enough service time to refuse any minor league assignment. it also appears that he has never been outrighted to the minor leagues before.
  5. missed this transaction . . . on 17 july, alex jackson was activated and optioned to class aaa nashville.
  6. a reminder that the brewers currently have a spot open on their active roster . . .
  7. corbin burnes will not be participating in the all-star game.
  8. note that this ruling merely allows clubs to pay minor leaguers during spring training (and even during the off-season). it doesn't mandate it. mlb, do the right thing.
  9. important to note with angel zerpa and his transactions, who had been on optional assignment with the royals but was recalled as a replacement when his club traveled to canada this week: zerpa has been sent to the minor leagues four times this season. the first transaction was an optional assignment, but it was before 2 may, and we know that assignments before 2 may do not count against the limit of five options turns. the next two transactions were optional assignments, and those count against the five. but his fourth transaction this season (happening yesterday) was being returned to the minor leagues--a notable distinction. one would think that zerpa still has two optional assignments against his limit of five, even though he's been sent down four times thus far this season.
