  1. I've voted too. You're currently in a healthy lead but people should keep voting to ensure it stays that way.
  2. Chris - I've been rooting for you since the day you were traded to Milwaukee. Over the years you shown your quality both on the field and off, and have clearly become one of our favourite Brewers. I don't know of anyone - here or elsewhere - who wasn't pulling for you to have a successful comeback with the Brewers, and that's testimony to the positive effect that you've had on people here. We'll miss you here, and would be happy to see you return one day, but I wish you all the luck in the world wherever you end up - even if it's with a division rival (although in that case we'd have to root for a 1-0 Brewers victory when you're pitching against the Brewers). Thanks and take care. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  3. I agree entirely. Francis is a luxury. An upgrade at SS or CF is more of a necessity.
  4. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif With the rotation the Brewers have put together and the fact that they didn't have to give up Fielder to get it, 85 wins would be quite a disappointment. Then again, I think the emoticon accurately expresses what I think of "projections".
  5. Even when the potential SP acquisition is himself mediocre? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  6. Well except Blanton pitches half his games in the worst pitchers park in baseball. And usually puts up more quality starts every year than Bush. Funny you should say that - his numbers there are significantly better than elsewhere. In fact his numbers elsewhere are really poor.
  7. I do. You don't have to give up a prospect to get Bush back. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  8. Doesn't anyone else remember when C.C. was a free agent and the last two teams standing were the Yankees and the Brewers? The "expert analysts" at ESPN were discounting the Brewers long before he actually signed for the Yankees because the "players union wouldn't allow him to leave that much money on the table" - as if they had the power to prevent him from taking whichever deal he preferred. Where are those "experts" now? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif
  9. Possibly because the preferred target was selected in the aforementioned draft and now they have to go back and re-evaluate?
  10. If that is what it takes you can guarantee the Brewers won't do it. Creating 3 massive holes in the everyday lineup for one starter would be foolish regardless of who the pitcher is. Any subsequent Fielder deal would have to fill two of those holes with major leaguers or major league ready talent.Agreed. And frankly Lucroy would probably be the hardest to hole to fill - remember how long we've bemoaned the lack of a quality catcher coming up through the system? I'm not the biggest Escobar fan actually, so perhaps two holes. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  11. "There’s obviously what I find attractive information that has occurred over the past couple of weeks about the value of hitters and sluggers," said Boras. "The important thing is the rarity of (sluggers), particularly in the game today. When you have power, teams are going to aggressively pursue and do so with immediacy. "The one thing that I hear is that if anybody in this game is going hit 25 home runs and play defense, you have extreme value. " Translation: Even if Prince has a really sub-par year and only hits 25 home runs and doesn't end up being a DH somewhere next season (note he said "play defense" but didn't say "well"), Boras won't lower the asking price next year.
  12. Two questions: 1) Which was more the aberration for Greinke? 2009 or 2010? 2) "Adding him would give us an ace that could match up in a playoff series against any pitcher in baseball" - given his widely publicized issues, don't you fear for how well he'd hold up under the national spotlight in the playoffs?
  13. Just to stir the pot on this a little, here's some food for thought. While I'm not at all claiming Marcum will be better than Greinke, and would also like to see Greinke pitching for the Brewers, why is everyone so convinced that giving up three or four of the organization's better prospects for two years of Greinke is a good idea when people here can't even seem to agree that giving up one for Marcum (who is willing to sign an extension) was?
  14. They just have to learn a couple more pitches. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tongue.gif
  15. Actually this one makes sense to me from the Brewers perspective - which probably means, as you say, that it's BS. Tillman is a young pitcher with a great upside, and if the Brewers are serious about getting Greinke then he's another piece they could add to their offer. Fielder won't interest the Royals at all, but Tillman is just the sort of piece they're supposedly looking for in a package. Plus it gets Fielder out of the NL. Even if you don't get Greinke, it's not a bad starting point for negotiations. I'd say that I don't see what Baltimore gets out of it, as they're unlikely to contend next year and would have a hard time keeping Fielder after that, but then again they just traded for a starting third baseman who makes Russell Branyan look like a Hall of Fame player, so who knows?
  16. Kudos to Keith Law of ESPN who, unlike the idiots at MLB Network, actually thought about the Loney/Broxton "rumour": "The Loney/Broxton offer didn't make much sense to me."
  17. At least then you would get to look at Sarah Michelle Gellar, Alyson Hannigan and Michelle Trachtenberg. Don't forget Eliza Dushku...
  18. Journos trying to create a story, rather than report on it. Rosenthal even admitted that he'd been told the two sides hadn't talked at all, but wouldn't give it up. I think I'll go watch some fiction that's more believable - like Buffy the Vampire Slayer or something...
  19. Ken Rosenthal is on MLB Network STILL rabbiting on about how Broxton/Loney for Fielder "matches up". Has he ever even looked at a Brewers box score, let alone seen them play? All of their analysts also seem to think the Brewers need a closer. What a joke. These people claim to be experts and are truly clueless.
  20. I always thought Heyman of SI was totally clueless, and this seals it. He was just on MLB Network and said of Marcum - to Blue Jays skipper John Farrell - "he's not a guy you look at and say "I really didn't want to let him go"' (as if he thinks rather little of Marcum). http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  21. It's probably a lot more than if he relied on a fastball in the mid to high 90s, which a few here seem to overvalue a little.
  22. Indeed. And those two other guys would probably be Odorizzi and one of Rogers or Jeffress.
  23. I don't. This smells like a Suppan deal to me. He's fine as a 4 or 5 (at a lot less money and fewer years than he'll actually command), but if you're hoping for more than that then I fear you'll be disappointed
  24. Why would a team with no shot at contending next year like Baltimore trade away a valuable starting pitcher, controlled for the next two seasons, and a "top pitching prospect" for one season from a player they're unlikely to be able to keep after that (unless he's really willing to forego a chance to play for a contender any time in the forseeable future)?
  25. Thanks. Is that true of all three of these? My cursory search of the Internet seems to indicate that the three have different values due to availability, with the blue 80s uniform being the hardest to find and the 90's uniform the easiest.
