  1. I don't have any inside information and couldn't find anything on the web about what happened to Barta but if I had to venture a guess I would say the 26-42 record for the Chucks and several managerial decisions that led me to look into the dugout and see if Ned Yost snuck in there probably led to him getting canned. On a more positive note, I found that the Northwoods league is going to have 3 televised games on ESPNU this next year. Here is the press release: NORTHWOODS LEAGUE ANNOUNCES FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Date: September 13, 2006 Northwoods League and ESPNU Announce Agreement The Northwoods League and ESPNU have reached a two-year agreement, with a mutual option on a third year, to televise Northwoods League games nationally beginning 2007. The first year of the agreement (2007) will feature three games, followed by six to seven games in 2008. Following the exercise of a mutual option in 2009, the ESPNU schedule will call for 10 to 11 games. ?This is a groundbreaking and unprecedented event for Summer Collegiate Baseball,? said Northwoods League President Dick Radatz, Jr. ?We are extremely excited to be partnering with the ESPN family on this venture.? ?We are thrilled to add this category of college sports programming to the ESPNU summer schedule,? said Burke Magnus, vice president and general manager, ESPNU. ?The Northwoods League has an outstanding legacy and we are excited to join them in presenting their talent to college baseball fans throughout the country. This agreement further proves our commitment to serving college sports fans 24/7.? The Northwoods League plays more games, draws more fans, and plays in better venues than any Summer Collegiate Baseball League in North America. The League recently completed its thirteenth season of play in August, and had 96 of its current players or alumni taken in last June?s Major League Amateur Draft.
  2. This is pretty cool because not only are the Woodchucks from my hometown (Wausau) but I have worked for them for the past 2 years. I probably will not be working there this summer because hopefully I'll have my degree by that time. I do recall towards the end of the season seeing him at a game and not thinking twice about it. Should be interesting to see if the Chucks pull in some better talent with Gantner as the coach.
  3. Wonder what the reaction in Boston will be having to face Billy Buckner if/when he pitches for the Royals.
  4. Pour Some Champagne The STARS ARE DIVISION CHAMPS!

  6. Huntsville takes the lead in the 10th on a two out rally started by Braun who ends up scoring the go ahead run on a Brad Nelson RBI single. Very enjoyable to be following this one after the big club lost again.

  8. Just another 6 innings of shut out baseball for Yo. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tired.gif
  9. Nix with another solid night for Nashville. Too bad he was the only one with two hits on the team. Still good to see him doing well.
  10. Laynce Nix is tearing the cover off the ball since the trade. Today he goes 3-7 with a HR, 3B, and 2B. Nelson Who? Anyone got any insight into the chances of Nix turning things around and becoming the steal of the Carlos Lee trade.
  11. Darron mentioned a notable veteran pitcher that the Brewers had inquired about and mentioned again that Mark A. and Melvin both said they were not done dealing yet.
  12. YO with a 0.72 ERA after last night but still higher than CV who comes in with a stunning 0.43 ERA. Hopefully in a couple years we have a dominate rotation of Sheets, Cappy, YO, CV, and Zack Jack.
  13. according to milwaukeebrewers.com Weeks will be back in the lineup on Friday. Also the Brewers Schedule and milwaukeebrewers.com shows that this game isn't on TV. Guess we'll find out in 10 minutes.
  14. Fernandez with a complete game shutout and Moeller goes 2 for 4 with a double. Never thought I would ever write that.
  15. Good night for JDLR, when does he come back to the majors? De La Rosa 6.2IP 6H 1R 0ER 1BB 5K
  16. Thanks for not even giving us a chance to win Davis.
  17. Nashville: Rehabbing RHP Ben Sheets at Round Rock (Astros), 6:50 PM pre-game, 7:05 gametime What a beautiful sight that one line is. Also he is pitching against rehabbing Brandon Backe.
  18. Only 3 days of rest might have affected JDLR a bit in his start but still not good. Ohka with a very nice start, hopefully we'll see him in AA in five days. Still very exciting with the big league club with a huge comeback win and with our injured pitchers on track to be back shortly after the all star break.
  19. Like Darron said Jackson was pitching in single A a little more than a year ago and is now pitching in the majors. He clearly needs a year in AAA to gain that control and polish he needs. Unfortunately with all the injuries he has to pitch. Life as a Brewer fan this weekend has been about as good as life as a Cubs fan for the whole year but we need to look at the standings and realize we are only going to be 5.5 games back at worse after today and headed home for a 7 game homestand. This club without Sheets and Ohka is doing very well hanging around .500. Just gotta flush this series from the memory banks and remember that the Twins have been dominating everyone. If you want to smile take a look at Yovani Gallardo's line from yesterday at Huntsville. (He hasn't given up a run since being called up to AA, supposedly the toughest jump in baseball.)
  20. Game was over when it was 1-0 anyways so what is 3 more runs.
  21. This is the kind of game that probably will send us into a losing streak before the break and dash any hope for the Division, Wild Card, or .500.
  22. As much as we all know Jenkins was going to strike out last inning because he is anti-clutch, I almost expect Billy to leadoff here with at least a double.
  23. YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS a Double Play.
