  1. Shuts me up with a 2 rbi double. I'll be sure to criticize him more often.
  2. Are you counting the 2nd out on the bases as the line drive that was caught and got Ramirez out at 2nd? If so, I would hardly put any blame on Ron for that one. Absolutely counting it, becauseI believe a culture of "every out is precious" leads to different results than aggressive stealing and stupid bunting to squander outs. That play took forever to turn into an out. Maybe a culture that condemns outs on the bases leads to a different result. Or maybe not, since Aram is so old and slow (but at least he's expensive!).
  3. Two innings, two outs on the bases. Love that Runnin Ron aggressive culture! Ugh.
  4. It's interesting that both top prospects are from cold, northern cities on great lakes (Wiggins from Toronto). It's just destiny that one of the two becomes a Buck, feels at home, is happy long-term, and helps make basketball history here, right?
  5. We are renewed for 2014! In addition to BrianFieldCoder sounding like he's 80% in (?), I also heard from Schubert that he's 100% in, and Drick said "tentatively in". No reply from Aaron or Jon. So as it stands... 01. valpo 02. Houle 03. Beeks 04. Kenny bball 05. nullbyte 06. radman 07. BrianCoderRobin19 (tentative?) 08. Drick (tentative?) 09. Aaron 10. Al We'll need to drum up some more interest before the season starts. Hopefully that's not a big deal. EDIT: Aaron tells me that he's in.
  6. All right, so we're at 5.5 confirmed players? I'll ask the others via text. Would like to see a solid base of 8-9 of us before renewing for next season (due Wednesday). Then would just need to add a few more to be at 12-ish total. If anyone reading this hasn't been on the team before and is on the fence, you should speak up! Or PM me if you have questions. It's a fun, NOT highly competitive, social league. Games in Bay View. Thursday nights. Only a 10-week season. 01. valpo 02. Houle 03. Beeks 04. Kenny bball 05. nullbyte 5.5 Radman
  7. Spot on. I've found myself thinking about this every year since.
  8. I just got league/renewal information in the mail for the 2014 season. Hopefully we'll be continuing the tradition of MKE softball under the Brewerfan.net banner for yet another year! Let's use this thread as a signup for previous team members and anyone new that it interested in hopping aboard. We have until mid-February to sign up. Roll call... 01. valpo 02.
  9. I've been tempted to start such a thread multiple times, with the title "One Question Line".
  10. The call was crap. Middlebrooks raised his feet a little, but Craig tripped over his waist. I think Craig actually tripped on purpose to draw the call. Only an uncoordinated buffoon would trip like that over the waist of a guy laying on the ground -- not a professional athlete. Classy. I've been trying to ignore the post-season to avoid seeing crap like this. Like the Cards' bogus infield fly last year that bailed them out of a big inning. Cardinals winning is one level of anger, luckily winning as the beneficiary of crap calls just pushes me over the edge. Wish I hadn't been at a bar last night that had the game on.
  11. I'm hoping to see Gorzelanny in the rotation next year. For some reason, I'm also really intrigued at the prospect of signing Kevin Slowey on the cheap.
  12. Wow, he is an excellent writer. Great read. Thanks!
  13. 01. valpo 02. timbyte 03. Drick 04. Houle 05. Beeks 06. Brian19coder 07. Radman 08. Schubert 09. Aaron 10. Jon 11. Kennybball OUT Al I'll contact the rest... EDIT: Heard back from Schubert, Aaron, and Jon ... we are good. EDIT EDIT: Kenny tells me he's back in.
  14. To me, he's been super consistent. Off the plate a couple inches at belt height is a strike, down the middle but low edge of the zone is a ball. Seems like it's been that way all game. EDIT: I'll grant you, there have been a couple belt high pitches on the black called balls in the Brewers favor. Partly, the Cubs catcher is terrible at framing pitches. Sloppy glove work, moves with pitch further out of the zone, gives up on clise pitches with bad body language.
  15. It's amazing that Brian and Bill can't figure out an umpire after 9 innings of consistent calls.
  16. RRR's wonderful world of ABB baseball ... always be buntin. Already got our man on second, stop giving up strikes and outs on the pipe dream of perfectly executed successful sacrifices. (Which would only be for the tie, anyways.)
  17. Based on latest updates and text messages, etc... IN 01. valpo 02. radman 03. Beeks 04. Houle 05. BrianCoder19 06. Jon 07. Kenny 08. Timbyte 09. Schubert 10. Drick 11. (Aaron?) OUT Alan //sick, according to Houle
  18. Are there any Braun quotes directly admitting anything, or only as far as "mistakes" and "willing to accept consequences" and "I apologize". Those are all roundabout confessions, but not a very satisfying conclusion. Seems like more of a "I still think I'm innocecent, as far as I knew I was clean, but I made mistakes in getting involved with shady people/enhancements and MLB made it clear I wasn't getting away, so I'm willing to accept the consequences in the best interests of the team and I apoligize to all for being mixed up in this". I guess I don't mind being naive for a little while longer. I just don't see him lying with a straight face while knowing he got busted taking disallowed PEDs. Maybe there is "more to the story" as he once said. But probably not ... ugh.
  19. Excellent victory last night! Faced a good team and came out swinging and playing good defense. Final score 15-9?
  20. I got confirmation from Schubert earlier this week, just need to confirm with Aaron and we'll be good to go. 01. Beeks 02. Alan 03. Houle 04. valpo 05. Kenny 06. Drick 07. nullbyte 08. Robin19coder 09. Schubert 10. Aaron EDIT: Aaron confirms ... we have 10.
  21. 01. Beeks 02. Alan 03. Houle 04. valpo 05.
