    I really don't think Yost has had any effect on the young guys. Those guys were going to be good players anyway, they fine toned their skills in the minors. If anything he held Hart back by not playing him. Manager of the Year and giving away position awards isn't the same. They give the position awards to the better known player, they don't give the MOT away to the manager who has the best record or most well known manager. I think the cubs hatred on this board make people hate Dusty Baker, that and the stupid tooth pick. I bet he makes a big difference for the Reds this year and they scare me as a team because of it.

    I think that Baker is a better manager Yost. Yost really hasn't done anything for people to even say he is a good manager. I know what people are going to say, Baker ruins pitchers arms. I think all managers try to push their pitchers too far and Baker is no different. Didn't Yost keep JDLR or someone in when his nails were bleeding? I can't remember the whole situation, but I do remember him leaving someone in when he shouldn't have. Woods arm was going to get hurt no matter what., his delivery screamed arm injury. My list of managers in the Central Larussa Piniella Baker Yost Coop Russell give it a season and I'll probably put Coop ahead of Yost too Baker has won manager of the year 3 times and has won over 1100 games in his career. He is a better manager than Yost is

    Yeah, they have no problem with allowing you to bring bats in, for some reason they have problems with bringing brooms though. I'm passing on this years On Deck even because last year was a waste of time for me. I don't run to get into lines, so I didn't get an autograph or anything really good at the rummage sale. I feel stupid for even asking but if someone ran into a game used Podsednik or Cirillo bat or jersey at the rummage sale could you please pick one up for me and I'll send the money to you. I know its a lot to ask but it would be very much appreciated.

    I like hockey and I'm kinda surprised more people don't. It has high contact, speed, agility and really good rivalries. I think one of the reasons why people don't like hockey is because they don't understand how the game is played or the rules of the game. Another reason might be because its next to impossible to find a game on tv. Looking at the attendances for the year, they are packing the rinks so plenty people are going to the games.

    I like to think of myself as a big tough guy when it comes to things, but there are a couple movies that when I watch them, I cry no matter what. I'm not talking about full out crying but brings tears to my eyes. The Green Mile and Eight Below are two movies that get me every time. For whatever reason, I tear up when I see men cry, and when a couple of the dogs die and they rescue the others in Eight Below it chokes me up big time. I'm watching Eight Below right now and it has got me a couple times. I'm a big wuss.

    The sales guy mentioned it to me and said that they have deals with tons of schools and companies that not many people ever ask about or use. Yeah, the sales guy at the Verizon store I go to said they have thousands of discounts for companies. I know someone that works for John Deere and he gets a 20% discount through Verizon.

    Its just the way the game of golf is. You should not make a noise in someones back swing, especially when the player it expecting to be total silence. I would rather try hitting a 90mph fastball with a crowd going crazy then trying to hit a non moving golf ball with complete silence.

    Yeah cause it is ours and we are Americans! I mean it is not like the Tour de France ever started in London...... Opening day will still be opening day 2-3 games in Tokyo really change nothing. Fans in Oakland will still have time to drink the beers and get the botox done in parking lot for their first home game. Damn straight. I am American and I want MLB to have It's opening day in America. I don't care about the Tour de France, I care about baseball. Its not about drinking bears and botox its about having a real opening day in America. Sure Oakland will have its own "opening day" but technically they have already had 2 "home" games. You'll never see the NFL put their opening day in another country people would fly off the handle. and come on, there is a big difference between 3am and 10am for Oakland fans. 3am you're sleeping, 10 am you can listen to it on the radio, catch it on the tv you have more options. Unless you have nothing going on the next day, getting up at 3 am is a bunch of crap. I'm done with this thread, it just keeps pissing me off even more. People would have different views if it was the Crew playing and not Boston and Oakland.

    well, IMO its stupid to give another country AMERICAS passtime opening day and the fact that more people aren't pissed about it is shocking to me. I would be even more pissed about it if I had to wake up at 5am to watch the Brewers play.

    What's really stupid is both these teams come back this week and play exhibition games[/i] over the weekend. This is completely stupid! and I understand about making the game more global but giving another country the opening day of all of baseball is going to far. That is something that should be celebrated here with a big prime time game. Plus that game counted as a home game for Oakland. Yeah, some home game for when I would bet 98% of the people were rooting for Boston because of a couple guys on their team. I think that the season should start with a big prime time game, with the winning team of last years world series getting their rings and having a home game. If they want to play a series in another country, they should do it sometime in the season. The teams would leave after a day game, with the next day being an off day. Then after they played their 2 or 3 game series the would have another off day to get adjusted back to their time schedules.

    I mentioned this in the IGT for the Sox and A's game but I think it warrants its own thread. I in no way think the first game of a long awaited season should be played outside of the U.S. It should be a prime time game for all of America to see, since it is Americas past time after all. I don't care about either one of those teams but I would have watched the game if it were say at 6pm. The fact that Oakland fans had to be up at 3am to watch their season opener is a joke. Also the fact that they are playing regular season games while others are playing exhibition games doesn't make sense to me. The pre season should end for everyone at the same time. I know this sounds more like a rant, and it is in some ways, but I want to know if I'm alone in my thinking or does anyone else think the same way?

    am I out of line to be pissed that Americas past time is starting outside of America? Add in the fact that the fans of both teams probably won't be up to watch the game unless they get up early. If the Brewers ever played over there to start the season and I had to be up at 5 am to watch them Id be even more pissed than I am now. Sorry for the rant, I just don't like it.

    the Play It Again Sports by my house has new indoor batting cages that are very nice. Hit some balls last week, I know manager and had him crank up the fast pitch baseball to 85. Lots of fun.

    I was very excited about it. I mean, I have played baseball games for what? 19 or so years and never have done it. My gf thinks I'm stupid for taking pictures, she just doesn't understand. I too would like to know how many people have done it? and were they nervous?
