  1. Should we have traded Doug Davis?
  2. I was not a huge fan of Vargas, but I really do not see the reason for flat out releasing him.
  3. I am a pretty big Star Wars fan, I have read a bunch of the books and recently got through all of the comics in the Clone War era. The comics are really good. A few years ago I bought a collection of audio books off of Ebay, I have somewhere in the vicinity of 50 in MP3 format. It is mostly New Republic era stuff, but there is some Clone Wars stuff in their as well and I have really enjoyed those.
  4. This is what makes me mad about this prediction. By their own measure PVR, here are the two lineups and pitching rotation side by side. Reds, Brewers CF 171, 142 RF 57, 53 LF 38, 20 3B 183, 85 SS 209, 69 2B 5, 46 1B 243, 10 C 270, 311 Rotation 1 37, 31 2 139, 55 3 112, 120 4 202, 130 5 188, 157 Bullpen 1 59, 77 2 146, 157 3 273, 185 By their own rankings we outrank them in 11 of 16 positions.
  5. Compare the lineups of the Reds and Brewers, and then the rotations; it is very hard to say the Reds are better than the Brewers. Now factor in that our major producers are all entering what seems to be their "prime" years and it is going to take a huge year from the Reds to overtake us in the win column. It must be the manager who will put them over the top...
  6. I think a major weakness in the end for Marquette was Jame's inability to get the ball in the hoop. His last three games this season he shot: Pitt- 3 for 16, with 3 assists Kentucky- 3 for 9 with 3 assists (He did make 10 Free throws) Stanford- 4 of 16, 10 assists The thing with James is he is lightening quick and he has tons of ability, but he struggles to put the ball in the basket. A perfect example was against Stanford when he put up a shot in the lane, it bounced out, but he soared above everyone else for the rebound (showing crazy hops and athleticism) only to miss another close shot.
  7. As a fellow UW grad I wish you a happy B-Day, and say hi to Steve Sax at the nuclear power plant, and Lenny and Carl.
  8. I just submitted mine. I will be part of the millions of dollars lost in productivity today...
  9. I wish the Knicks were not in the running for Walsh, I think he is headed to NYC. Last nights game was a joke, which is also what the franchise has become. I want Walsh and Rick Carlisle, but I am afraid they both may be going to New York.
  10. Is anyone interested in an all Brewerfan.net league? I would be willing to set one up. We would have to draft pretty quickly but I was thinking about a live draft Monday night at like 5:30 via Yahoo or ESPN. Post or PM me if you are interested.
  11. I mention this here, although it is a little off topic, it was mentioned during the Bucks game the other night. No one will ever wear the number 4 again for the 3 pro sports teams in Wisconsin. Brett Favre, Paul Molitor and Sidney Moncrief all have their numbers retired, or in Favre's case it soon will be.
  12. Braun and Fielder are going to be very pricey. IIRC Howard had been upset that the Phillies would not pay him what he was worth last year.
  13. Well I for one will miss your informative posts, I will wait in anticipation until you return. I may not eat or sleep. This is a minor league deal for Pete's sake. He is not being penciled in for a starting spot. (Crossing my fingers)
  14. From Baseball Prospectus: "In short, the Three True Outcomes are plate appearances that end with events that do not involve the fielders: the home run, the walk, and the strikeout" People not loving the Muscle makes me feel old. There are a lot of new fans to the website and the Brewers, this is something I have to get used to.
  15. Do they have scissors in Canada?
  16. "What Kohl needs to do is hire a GM, set a budget for that GM and let the GM make the basketball decisions. Not Ron Walter, not Mike Burr not anybody else" I could not agree with this more. Kohl can be a good owner he just needs a good GM (with a goal) to make the basketball decisions. There have been some major missteps in the last few years that have put this franchise in a bad spot. But beneath the surface of underachievers and over-payed players there is some decent young talent. With a new GM and regime the Bucks could be successful.
  17. Bumping this up to the top.
  18. Hopefully this season goes better than "Manos, and the Hands of Fate"
  19. I do not like Nickleback for a few reasons. 1. I do not like bland rock and roll. 2. I hate the lead singers voice. 3. Their songs sound the same. 4. Their songs are overplayed. 5. Their songs arouse zero feeling or emotion from me. It is not because I am a music snob, it is because when I listen to their music it does nothing for me. When I am in a bar and I hear "Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy" it makes me laugh, but I don't freak out. It is the same when I hear Nickleback, I think, "all sounds the same," and move on. I have never in my life cared about what people thought about the music I listen to. If you go home and jam to some Nickleback that is cool, if you think Nickleback is the greatest band in the world thats cool too. But you have the right to think that as much as I have the right to think Nickleback is bland and shallow.
  20. So the Mavs are in win now mode, just like the Suns. Kidd is still a great player but D-HA looks like he will be a good player for a long time to come. So they are willing to part with the future for today. I guess I cannot blame a team who 2 years ago were on their way to beating the heat when they collapsed, then last year totally fell apart against the Warriors in the first round. So I imagine they are going to go for it all now. It is so crazy what the Gasol trade did to the West, it brought Shaq to the Suns and Kidd to the Mavericks. What is strange is Gasol was on the block almost all of last year, so if an NBA team wanted him over the last year and a half they could have had him. When I look at it that way I think, well maybe it would have been better if the Suns would have made a deal with Memphis to get Gasol, or the Mavs. It just seems that reactionary trades are the order of the day.
  21. I am going to be taking a trip to Montana this summer and since this picks up in my hometown (Columbus, WI) I was planning on taking it both ways. From what I hear it is a great ride.
  22. TLB, you are correct. Behind the plate umpiring especially is brutal, you have to be so fast ans accurate in terms of balls and strikes and you have a good chance of having to call a few bang-bang plays.
  23. In terms of Tulo I think the Rockies felt they had to capitalize on the success they had last year. Also this is the Yanks, they are going to overbid everything, because they can. The draft becomes more important with each one of these signings. Good young players do not reach free agency anymore, you have to raise them yourself.
