Kix has to be the worst cereal of all time. I wouldn't use it to insulate my attic. -
I guess the way I look at it -- If I had to chose between a hit and a walk -- I'd take the hit. But if I have to chose between a hitter who's OBP is hit driven, or one which has a OBP that is BB driven -- for one game -- I'd probably see the guy who can draw walks less risky than the guy who needs to get a hit to get on base. EDIT: -- If you have a player that has demonstrated that they can hit at a .297 over hundreds of ABs, I'd be OK with agreeing with you -- but when we are talking about pre-AS break ABs for a 4th and 5th OFer -- I think there is a built in concern for fluctuation -- which makes the BB guy seem like a better gamble to me. I don't think we really disagree that terribly much.

I'm pretty sure that Choate is on the DL with a broken hand. He hit it on Matt LaPorta's helmet about 2 weeks ago. I hope the helmet was ok.

I disagree ollie -- especially in the framework of a small sample. -- If these lines were for 500 ABs I might be inclined to agree with you, but for the amount of ABs we are dealing with I really (and respectfully) see things differently. 1.) They have OPB in the same neighborhood, i.e. they are in the same tax bracket. Gwynn's OBP is driven by hits, Gross's driven by walks. 2.) Gross, obviously has some power, Gwynn has none. 3.) If Gwynn goes 0-4 in a game there is almost 0 chance he reached base. If Gross goes 0-4 he would be more likely to get on base with a walk. That is to say that hit rates fluctuate wildly, BB rates not so much. If Gwynn can't dribble a grounder through the IF he is screwed, if TGJ is in a slump he is not getting on base. Gross could yank one out of the park, or draw a walk even in a slump. I understand where you are coming from, and I think it is a valid argument -- but I'd take Gross..

Gwynn Pre-All star break; .297/.354/.341 Gross Pre All Star break; .200/.330/.363 If you look at the OPS -- they seem pretty even. Gross can't hit LH pitching In all fairness neither can TGJ -- he can't really hit either arm. I have no problem with Gwynn getting some ABs against LHP when Gross is playing --but I think Gross is always the better day to day option.

So....you could just walk back towards the "2nd group" and see if anybody wants to trade? It might force you to the back end of that line, but the Brewers will honor your voucher regardless, so if waiting is not a big deal for you, I'd give that a try. Yeah -- there is a way to get it done for sure.

Does that make sense how I worded that? So just allowing people to skip you will not work out. When did they start handing out vouchers? -- They haven't done that in the past.

So what your saying FTJ is I should almost for sure get Gagne and Sheets? Yeah -- If you hauled ass at 9 -- and got to be first(ish) in line for Braun, and got Braun -- by the time you got through you probably won't have enough time to get through the line again, but I don't see why you couldn't get in line for Braun and just let people go past you, until they swapped.

I gave up on TN-LV with about 15:00 left in the 2nd half. Too much chaos and too many turnovers with what appears to be no plan. It's the way both teams play and they're good at it but with 2 teams like that facing each other I found it very frustrating and not enjoyable. Yeah -- I agree 100%. I was disappointed in that game, because I thought it was the best matchup. Both teams looked out of control. The WVU-X game was a good one though. The problem with these Cinderella teams (WKY, Davidson) is that when the dance is finally over for them, they usually get a rude exit. That said -- I am hoping 'Nova can give KU a run and I am hoping that Stanford v. Texas is a great game.

Maybe they want the new guy(s) to not feel like they are in Bonds shadow all the time. I expect that the Packers may do something similar (not to the same degree) with Favre, as they want the fans to focus on #12 and not #4 -
no -- basically if you are not in the Braun line in the first 4-5 minutes, you will not get him, and then by default you will be in the "whoever is next line". If you happen to get into the Braun line, I would recommend just letting some people scoot in front of you.

You are forgiven so just because you are jealous that you aren't waking up at 4:30 after getting home late at night from friday's game and taking the hour drive to milwaukee You seem crabby -- you may want to sleep in. doesn't mean that you have say that me getting there at 6 won't pay What I had read was that the parking lot opened at 9AM. If that is the case getting there at 6am won't help you. if i want to be an idiot, i can... Apparently.....

Defense. It's not just for late innings. Gwynn is not a good (better than Gross) defender -- he just hits like a defensive specialist -- but he is no upgrade in the field. -
Gwynn batting 2nd is like Estrada batting 5th.

And I never said that he was younger than McClung by a significant margin, just that DLR himself is still pretty young meaning it's not a totally outrageous idea to want to bring DLR back into the fold. We really didn't dump him -- We needed Graffy as our IF was a MASH unit. Hendrickson we dumped, JDLR we moved to address a need.
