    Oh ye of little faith. Open "The Door"--I think that's the translation of LaPorta. For LaPorta to come this year would put him on a faster track than Braun -- that's probably not reasonable to expect.

    there are plenty of people who actually hate Turnbow for almost no reason. I don't know if "hate" is the right word. Turnbow's inability to locate breaking pitches is maddening though. It's just when he has one, it's absolutely terrible, but again, he's also very good more often than the most pitchers. He's better than the Seth McClung's and Elmer Dessens's -- but he had a lot of bad games last year.

    I would appreciate that -- I have seen that infosports link, but I was hoping to find some of the local smaller schools hosting their own tourney's, as well as the bigger ones. Congrats on your daughters season! My youngest daughter is on a team that went 11-0 this year in conference play. She made her first basket (it is her first year) the other night and I about wet myself watching her pump her little fist in the air.

    Yeah -- I have to pile on about the BBQ wings. My kids love, and I mean love, chicken wings. They insist on ordering "buffalo" but I know that they prefer BBQ, so I always tell the waitress to make them BBQ. So the kids get wings they will eat, but get to think they are hardass buffalo wing eaters.

    Team's doing better -- I have installed the "point forward" philosophy, which has had its growing pains -- but we were playing someone last Friday and we were down 18-4 at halftime -- I switched to point forward and "won the second half" 6-4. We weren't turning the ball over near as much -- actually running an offense (burning clock) -- and not giving up fast breaks.... Where do you find out about tourneys? -- we aren't in a league, so tourneys are all we can go to, and we are looking for some more gyms to invade.

    Yost and/or Melvin are clearly favoring guys with track records all be it very mediocre track records over our un proven young guys like Parra and Villenueva I think the idea here, is that they are going to make decisions based on a larger sample of work than a handful of innings in Arizona. Dave Bush is not going to lose his job, if Zach Jackson pitches 30 IP and gives up 2 ER. (or whoever) -- plus guys like Mota, Torres etc. that they are paying $3M for are going to automatically get a chance to fail in the regular season regardless of their performance in ST (unless they are hurt). I think a misconception is that jobs are won and lost at ST. I think perhaps Bush could lose a job to Vargas, or Gross could lose a job to Kapler, but not to someone that isn't an "established" MLB pitcher.

    Am I wrong? Does anyone else get that feeling? I don't think Hardy and Yost exchange Xmas cards.
