  1. Has Milwaukee gotten any rain or snow since 7pm last night?
  2. I've considered a gun, not for myself, but a shotgun for down the road if a boy decides to think about taking her out on a date. I decided long ago, that I would push all my frustrations into a big black ball of pain and rage in my stomach -- to be unleashed on their first suitors -- the need for any sort of firearm has long since passed. We also have a dog and a cat, I was watching a TV show once, and I am pretty sure that cats try to suffocate babies and steal their souls -- you may want to research that. As for the belt, I am a firm believer in belts. Not only to hold my pants up. You should really reconsider your position here -- I found spankings to be very counterproductive -- it basically sends the message that you resolve things through hitting. That might be a difficult thing to do when the time comes, That's probably the instinct you should heed. I don't think I'll resort to what my mother did when I talked back to her. Soap. Tasted NASTY! My wife recently did this to one of the girls -- I laughed a lot on the inside. Then my daughter came to me, and said -- "what are you going to do about this?" I told my daughter to ask her mom "What in the hell are you thinking?". She didn't take the bait. I have a freshly minted 8 yr old little girl. Abby is great. That said sometimes she is the herald of the apocalypse. Best line of the thread. What I have learned over the years with her is to not try to win most or really hardly any of the battles. Yeah -- you can't die on every hill. Sound advice.
  3. Your best bet is to grill your wife about how she was as a child, and what if anything worked or might have worked on her. As we have discussed previously, all women are clearly insane -- any historical recounts are likely exaggerated, fabricated, or flat out lies. It is good that you ask, but you shouldn't trust the information that you get. Any of the ladies on BFN have suggestions for us poor dads? Again, insanity precludes this as a reasonable course of action. I've figured out, boys will respond to authority and discipline Boys will respond to reason and hamburgers. I'm fatter and grouchier than at any other point in my life. No doubt -- I hear you there.
  4. I have 2 daughters. They are trying to kill me. People are going to tell you, that you should love them and adore them etc... I opted for survival. Here are some of my tips. 1.) Get a good paying job. 2.) Never buy clothes for her. 3.) Females have a difficult time maintaining a united front, use that to your advantage. 4.) Talk is cheap, gift cards are like health points. 5.) Have a son. Best of luck, and congratulations!
  5. Everyone regrets not signing Branyan... There are only 2 teams, those with Branyan, and teams that get Branyaned
  6. Sick joke man. But there's no way that we'd do that deal. Escobar and Parra is way too much to give up. I don't know -- I agree it's a lot to give up, but I initially bought into it happening.
  7. Gorman Thomas was loaned to the Rangers org., as well.
  8. Dude -- Yesterday I was driving to Milwaukee and some hot chick had a license plate that said "I M GP" I thought of you, and wondered where the drunk thread went.
  9. I hate to pick on you FTJ, but lets just say someone does two of those things in front of you, well when it comes down to it you just one minute of your day. No, of course not.. I have all the patience in the world for people who are moving along the best they can -- my problem comes from people who don't seem to realize that there are other people in the universe... If you are old, and write slowly... take your time -- if you need to balance your checkbook or argue about a 10 cent expired coupon, do it on your own time. but it just seems like everyone is so busy these days that we have forgotten how to interact with each other. This goes both ways though. I generally assume that people may be going to work, or have better things to do than watch me dig in my pockets for exact change. I certainly agree that it is rude to be impatient, but I think you should show some some sort of concern for other people's time -- you just don't know what they may be up against.
  10. Where did you get this from? www.stuffIjustmadeup.com I am directing this at Gus Johnson.
  11. I don't know why it bothers me so much, but it does. I hear you -- My rule is that if there are 4 people in line -- and a new line opens up -- person #3 should go to the new line, because a lot of times #2 is too far entrenched in the passage to turn their cart around, and they are going to get serviced soon enough when #1 finishes. Like the mighty polar bear, I am generally a very gentle and docile creature, but about 50% of the time I leave Target/Wal-Mart I regret not doling out some Steven Segal clotheslines and neckbreakers. 1.) Coupons piss me off. 2.) Filling out your checkbook pisses me off. 3.) Buying 100 items and putting it on 10 receipts pisses me off. 4.) Digging around in your purse for exact change pisses me off. The worst person to ever walk this planet was this old lady who did all 4 of these things while in front of me, and when the clerk started to get irritated, she turned, and looked at me and said, "Oh, he is not in a hurry, don't worry" Ker-Snap.
  12. I never understanding this reasoning. It's not directed at you homer. There are a number of reasons -- 1.) $$$$ -- If MSU wins the National Championship, Bucky gets paid. 2.) Recruiting -- If you have a strong conference, you are bound to get more televised games and attention -- Look at Memphis, when was the last time they had a nationally televised conference game (in a relative comparison). Marquette benefits from the perception of playing the brutal Big East, The Big East had 4/8 and 2/4 -- you don't think Marquette will benefit if the 2009 title game will showcase 2 Big East schools? Marquette is going to get a lot of national attention, by playing all the Big East teams that did well in the tournament -- I don't think that there is any ESPN big-wigs clamoring for more primetime Memphis v. C-USA in 2010. 3.) Someone mentioned Izzo has 5 FF's as impressive -- which it is -- coming into this year, Bo Ryan has beaten Izzo and MSU 11 of 14 times. I am sure that little factoid gets thrown around at recruits, and yes, it does make me feel good to see Bo's whipping boy get some attention. 4.) Familiarity -- I primarily and almost exclusively watch Big 10 hoops -- I know the players, and while many of them are guilty of pissing me off just a few weeks ago, it is easier for me to get behind a team I am familiar with, than say, a UNC or Duke. At the end of the day, MSU played better than Bucky did, and just because Bucky ran out of steam doesn't mean that I want MSU to lose. I am directing this at Homer.
  13. Geez FTJ I am beginning to wonder if you have some sort of email notification system attached to my posts that notifies you every time I say something stupid. Nah. We make a good team. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  14. I am shocked to hear him even say that. Even if it wouldn't be the smartest thing for him career-wise/business-wise, its pretty selfless of him. Kudos to Alicdes! I'm not -- Escobar knows he is the SS of the future -- and if the Brewers bring him up to play 2b, it starts his clock, and gets him closer to his pay day. Keep him in AAA.
  15. Ooh, burn. Indeed -- however, before Rydogg claims that I gave a substandard effort.... It appears to be done in Oshkosh, it was less than an inch. What is Rydogg's wife's last Twitter entry? I will take Potent Potables for $1000, Alex
  16. I really doubt a manager change is going to make any difference with Weeks. Agreed -- I think about the only difference is that managers prefer certain types of players, and a manager's particular type probably ends up getting more starts.
  17. It appears to be done in Oshkosh, it was less than an inch. That's what she said!
  18. I know...gag. Nah... It's good stuff... Adorable children, I like that B&W pic of the one baby smiling when its sleeping.
  19. Glad you didn't mean it, but that's the way it came across. We'll move past it... What did you mean by it? -- I am curious. To make another analogy, you could say of a 1.000 OPS hitter that its possible he only faced the Glendon Rusch's of the world every time. If you look at 2008 -- At the beginning of the year here are his starts: @CHC 5.1 6 Cin 5.1 4 @Stl 6 3 Phil 6 4 @FLa 6 6 STL 6 1 -- This was Bush's first exceptionally good start of 2008 Here is the end of his season. @CIN 7 1 WSN 6.1 1 @LA 7 2 Pit 7 3 @Pit 6.2 1 NYM 5 6 Cin 8 2 @PHI 6 3 @CHC 5 2 PIT 5 3 I don't see a big difference -- between the road pitcher and the home pitcher... Bush struggled at the beginning of the season, and pitched better at the end -- he had more road starts at the early part of the year. It could also be factors such as Yost's usage of BP on the road.
  20. Thanks for the tip. I am not sure if you are being surly here -- I didn't mean to be a smartass -- perhaps I didn't understand your statement. Why would a 2 inning appearance on the road would take more time to be canceled out in the composite road sample than it would in the home sample? Well a pitcher like Bush could face the Phillies, Cubs, Red Sox on the road, and the Nats, Pirates and Royals at home in any given season, and then Suppan could face the exact opposite scenario, and you could conclude that Bush sucks on the road, and Suppan is awesome at home, and vica versa. All but one year he's played in a slightly offensive park, and all but one year he's preformed much worse on the road despite that. He could have drawn the Phillies more than the Nats... on the road, and the Nats more than the Phils at home. Weaver used to do that all the time--throw out a sacrificial lamb to the other guys' number one starter. Then he'd steal a few and really destroy you in a 3 or 4 games series. Yeah, but isn't Weaver doing the same thing to himself? -- If you send your #5 against their #1 -- you are send your #1 against their five as well -- it should all even out. I don't think Weaver ever really did this when he had his best teams.. Really Weaver's "strategy" was to ride HOFer Jim Palmer, and then have 2-3 other studs like Cuellar, McNally and Dobson in the rotation. Weaver flat out had a solid rotation.
  21. If Miller is an average offensive park, and Bush preforms better there than at a composite of all the other road parks (which should also be equal to an average park), doesn't that point to Bush doing better at home for psychological/comfort/etc. reasons? No. If Bush pitched worse at every NL park across the board than perhaps -- My guess it's just a weird split by getting pounded by the Phillies or Cubs on the road. If Bush had a 2IP 6ER appearance in MP, it would take a lot of time to absorb it. That said, he should profile well into SF with it being a pitchers park. Every pitcher should profile well in an extreme pitcher's park.
  22. I expected more from you with the set-up I gave you there. Fair enough.... How about this... So if I am North and East of Madison, what does that make me? South of Cool, West of Fantastic, and with a 0% chance of Awesomeness.
