    I looked at the source, and I wonder if it's how target="top" is handled by IE versus FF. Opera opens in the same window as well, so I'm sure what's going on is that the standards say that "top" should open in the same window (I think "_Top" opens in new and "_top" opens in same as well), and IE does it's own thing, as usual.
