If being the best team in the NL isn't fun, imagine being the fan of any other NL team that's literally worse. I'm not sure why you're looking at the WC standings when we're 3 games ahead of the Cubs, but ok.

Not going well for Mr. Lauer so far, specifically with PCA. I don't know how much the Dodgers even care though. They'll make the playoffs, make sure Snell and Glasnow are ready by then, and then mow down the competition (in theory). This is just one big extended Spring Training. Who we really need to be rooting for right now is Atlanta to stay on fire and pass the Dodgers for the #2 seed.

It's going to be interesting tracking Skubal, Henderson, and May for the rest of the year. I could easily see there not being that much difference between them (which of course would mean Henderson is by far the most valuable and we would've been stupid to trade him).

Their asking price may be enormous, but it's a game of chicken they also can't afford to lose; they'll take the best deal they can get (which will probably be pretty great).

Unless it's just me not seeing it embed, it's helpful to not just link to something but actually show what it is: I agree, that feels more like the right idea. You may or may not like it/do it, but it doesn't seem crazy like some (looking at you, Steve Phillips).

You said Ashby had a terrible month of July. I pointed out reasons why I don't think that's correct and that if you're disappointed when a reliever has two bad outings in a month then you may have unrealistic expectations.

Using ERA in a small sample for a reliever is not the best way to talk about consistency. Yes, when you are charged with 4 runs in 0.1 innings like Ashby was yesterday and you pitch like 12 innings in a month, it's going to look terrible. You are in better standing if you want to argue that his June was not great, but from a consistency standpoint, July was actually really good: He had 2 bad outings in the month. If your baseline is 0, you're going to be disappointed unless it's Mason Miller.

The problem is there is 0 chance Skubal does that when someone is going to give him 350-400 million.
