  1. Talking about Mark Twain (who Uecker mentioned was actually named Clemens): He had a grandson who pitched in the Major Leagues: Roger Clemens.
  2. I think they win one game out of three. I'll be happy with anything but getting swept.
  3. I just hope that RRR doesn't get suckered into his games the way Yost did in 2007. That little maneuver cost us a shot at the playoffs.
  4. Well, that could have been worse. Pull Wolf and try to score some more runs to put this out of reach.
  5. Rafael Furcal - terrible with the Dodgers, traded to the Cardinals - becomes Troy Tulowitzki. I hate the Cardinals so. so much.
  6. I sure hope this isn't one of those days when the opposing pitcher gets rocked in the opening inning then dominates the rest of the game.
  7. He looks a lot better if you factor in all the strikes called balls. That doesn't explain serving up a meatball to Furcal, though.
  8. Three straight batters now (Holliday-Freese-Berkman) who should have been called out on strikes per Gameday's strike zone.
  9. That's a lot of cheering for Pujols striking out. I can't wait to hear the cheers if Molina does.
  10. Brewer numbers against Jackson look good (small sample alert!). As of last night Pujols was questionable for today with bruising in his hand and/or wrist following Saito's vicious and obviously intentional attack on poor Baseball Jesus's magical wrist. He's just lucky that with Saito's pinpoint control the ball didn't strike the single bone that would make his whole hand collapse. This is why MLB rules should be adjusted so people can't pitch inside to Pujols. If Pujols is out, it'll be an easier game.
  11. You pitch to the best player in the game the same way you pitch to any other player in the game - wherever it takes to get them out. Missing with an inside pitch does not warrant retaliation. "Plus Pujols could have reinjured himself." Well, he could have reinjured himself washing his car. If the Cards are so worried about him getting hit, maybe they should tell him not to hang his oh-so-fragile wrist out over the plate all the time.
  12. Gallardo with one K per inning, both in terms of rate and in terms of actual occurrence. I don't know why I think that's interesitng.
  13. Wow, Marcum should have Barney and Wells struck out looking, but instead the zone's the size of a dinner plate.
  14. I wondered why he didn't obliterate Geovany Soto. He should have.
  15. I think it's not surprising, in retrospect (stopped listening in the fifth), that the Brewers bats just completely stopped after the fifth inning. They put a ton of guys on, made a ton of stupid outs, then just stopped swinging. Frustrating. This should have been a W. Go get 'em tomorrow.
  16. Nuts. Well, at least Vogelsong is throwing a lot of pitches.
