  1. I hope they cry big, classy tears in St. Louis. Let's see how classy they really are now that Baseball Jesus left Baseball Heaven for more money.
  2. They can win at Busch. They've done it this year. 1-2 at Busch Stadium means surviving until they can get home to Miller Park. 2-1 at Busch means coming home to clinch the pennant. 1-0 tonight to give yourselves a chance, Brewers.
  3. The Rays prove once again that, with the rare exception,* you cannot win with just stellar starting pitching. You must have some semblance of an offense, or a couple of breakout players. *The 2010 Giants (terrible offense) and 2006 Cardinals (not really good at anything) jump to mind.
  4. I think that the Brewers figure this guy out. They had trouble against Kennedy before, then they beat him. Hudson was tough all year, and they beat him. Now they've had trouble against Collmenter, and they're going to beat him, too. Plus, having your best hitter out there this time helps.
  5. How does a ground ball to the shortstop score the pitcher from second?
  6. I hope he goes back to washed up, and fast. Good for him.
  7. Alright! I was going to make a joke about Cory Provus making a mistake because Kotsay couldn't have possibly hit a home run, but that wouldn't be so funny now that Braun followed with another one. C'mon, Prince, get number two on the game and number three on the inning.
  8. Monday night with my brother, I have no idea where. He has the tickets.
  9. I'm about to leave for my first Brewers game since... I don't remember when. 2009, maybe? Whew. It's been a long time.
  10. Is there an organization with less class than the Marlins?
  11. It would be really nice for Gallardo to turn around his recent bad starts against the Cardinals. Pound some nails into their coffin, as it were.
  12. Hopefully the Brewers can get right against the Astros.
  13. Just win. One game puts the Cardinals back in a huge hole.
  14. Just because they haven't doesn't mean they won't. It's only rank incompetence that keeps the Cubs from trotting out 90-95 win teams every season, and part of that is $19M to Zambrano, $18M to Soriano. Look at Boston (smaller market than Chicago): a Red Sox team that doesn't win 90 games is almost unheard of in the wild card era. What I'm saying is, I hope they keep him. With $19M to spend next year, they could get Prince easily.
  15. I hope he doesn't retire. I want the Cubs to continue to have to deal with that anchor of a contract around their necks. The longer they're paying $19M per year to guys like Zambrano, the longer it will take for them to be the Yankees of the Midwest.
  16. Looking at just the stats, Wolf's start doesn't look so hot, but watching the recap, he looked really sharp. There's something to be said for handcuffing hitters and keeping them off balance. His curve was working when he tried to throw it up in the zone - he got a lot of Classies hitters to roll over on that pitch, chopping bouncers all over the infield. Great start, and a great win.
  17. I want the Brewers to crush them! I want Chris Carpenter's son in tears! I want to hear massive boos rolling through the stadium like thunder! I want the Brewers to destroy all hope the Cardinals have of winning the Central.
  18. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the waivers issue a long-term deal? As in, if you call up Peralta, you're burning one option, which stays burned when you send him down, and you don't expose him to waivers. Only after all his options have been used is he exposed to waivers. Is that correct? Sometimes we play too conservative with the worry about waivers and options. Call up the best guy who's available to start on Friday. If that's FDLC, fine. If it's Peralta, it should be him.
  19. More stress than needed, but they got the W. Go for the sweep tomorrow, and twist the knife.
  20. Hey, it worked! I'm really kind of surprised that RRR PH with Wilson, then asked him to bunt, especially with Wolf on deck. Scratch that: Lucroy on deck. I want to see some Badger Mutual Insurance Runs here.
  21. So this lefty pitcher is really tough on lefties, but didn't face Fielder in any important situations yesterday. Today, he starts pitching the inning against a righty. TLR, I don't understand you.
  22. Also, Gameday had ball three to Laird well within the zone, which would have gotten Marcum a K looking and out of the inning with the lead.
