  1. Is Bill Hall starting to get pissed off about switching positions, getting platooned and starting to speak up about it? What does this mean for the chemistry of this team? IIRC Hall made a comment after being moved to 3B this year that at some point and time he has to keep his integrity (paraphrased). He wasn't happy then and obviously isn't now -- it's too bad he just doesn't go out and perform. This would all be avoided if he did that.
  2. how bout using Dillard as a Starter for Dave Bush? Dillard has started in the Minor Leagues before and i believe he could be successful. But he hasn't shown us another pitch he can throw. Its only been the sinker, but he is really impressing me and i think he should be considerred for the starting rotation.. Dillard shouldn't start. It will be disappointing. He's performed a lot better now that he's a reliever. He was moved to the bullpen because he struggled quite a bit last year in Nashville as a starter. How did Dillard only K 4.4 /9 in AAA throwing 95? It's almost beyond explanation. I'd like to see him on a few more radar guns throwing 95 before I believe that is where he's at. I see him as 93 or so max. He's either big time amped up (not a bad thing) or the guns are fast.
  3. Is Weaver starting for the Sounds tonight? That's what it looks like in the Sounds' notes.
  4. To think that anyone will take Simmons or wallace's contracts is insane. The knicks would move randolph for a guy who will come off the books sooner rather than later. Wallace's contract woudnt be freed up for some time. I understand your logic, but the NBA has a lot of bad contracts out there. It's not like the Bucks are one of the one teams that has it. Simmons could be a valuable piece to a team in the right setting. He's simply on a team right now that has too many guys who play his spot. I'm not saying he's not overpaid, but I am saying he has some value -- albeit extremely overpaid. Is it possible he'll return somewhat back to form next year? Another year further from the injury might help? And Wallace's contract might be bad, but that didn't prevent him from getting trade this year to Cleveland.
  5. I'm not sure that this would be a good trade for the Knicks or the Nuggets but it is a great trade for the Bucks and Cavs. Maybe the Bucks send the #8 pick to the Nuggets also. I would have to imagine the Nuggets would want more out of the deal to give up Anthony and Camby. Has Anthony's stock fallen that far in Denver? I do think the Knicks would like that deal because it seems they've been trying to unload Randolph for quite some time now. I think more draft picks would have to go the Nuggets way to make it work. Maybe the Bucks 1st this year, next year, and then maybe another team throwing in a first round like the Cavs? I think the deal does make a lot of sense though for some of the teams.
  6. Any chance of packaging the 8 pick and Mo Williams to move up to #2 from the Heat. I know the Heat really wanted Williams last off-season, and they need more than one piece to become contenders again. I would do whatever I can to get the rights to Derek Rose. I believe the Heat would have to throw in a player or two to get the salaries close. I don't know if Miami really has anything in terms of players they're willing to give up that the Bucks would be interested in.
  7. Every spring with Alex matters. Every spring with Alex is magik! For some reason I was somewhat excited we got Ochoa in that deal (still thought it was a bad deal overall though). Ochoa was hyped up quite a bit as having the best outfield arm in all of baseball IIRC by SI and a few other publications.
  8. The more I hear about Joe Alexander the more I would like him as our pick. He is a 6-8 SF w/ crazy athletic ability. Seems like a good shot blocker, and great all around player. I've seen him play a couple of games, and he seems like a great competitor, and a very confident player. He has also only played organized ball for 5 years, so his upside is huge. Yea I watched West Virginia quite a bit this year. He's a nice player and I think he could fit in on the 3 spot. I wonder if the Bucks could trade down to say 11 - 15 and still get him there. This way they might be able to pick up a player or two and potentially dump one of their contracts.
  9. The thing i don't care for is that McClung has been fairly effective in the role he's been in and barring a surprise by him doing well starting, the bullpen role is probably the best fit considering his abilities. Agreed. I don't like moving McClung into a starter role. He's doing fine in his current role and I would just as well leave him there and see how he performs in the next month or so to see if he's the pitcher he's been with the Brewers or if he's still the pitcher that got rocked when he was on the Rays. I thought it'd be Weaver or DiFelice. One thing that hasn't been mentioned is that moving McClung into a starting role could potentially hurt the bullpen -- one of the exact problems some of the Brewers starters have had this year (not getting deep into games). Let's say even if McClung does do well Yost is quoted as saying he's going to have a 75 pitch limit the first start and then go up from there. This doesn't seem like it's a move that's going to help the bullpen or the rotation for that matter.
  10. Either Gordon or Mayo would be an improvement over Redd. Redd is the most hated player on the Bucks it seems. He's the Derrick Turnbow of the Bucks. Redd can still be a valuable player and I'd take Redd over Gordon easily. Redd looks like he's worn out his welcome in Milwaukee. I'd like to see us trade the pick since I do believe the Bucks already have enough talent on the roster to improve on this past year. Addition by subtraction.
  11. well they can only get 1,2,3,7,8,or 9 Can't they get the 10th pick if 3 teams jump ahead of them at the 7 slot? If the draft falls in place by actual records/ping pong balls they would be 7th. Thus if 3 teams past 7 get 1 - 3 they'd drop to the 10 spot.
  12. It's not a bad theory I just don't think it has anything to do with Kremblas possibly replacing Yost. Melvin has known Kremblas for quite sometime and if it was any thing related to replacing Yost a simple phone call would've been enough. I think Melvin is just looking at the players -- remember Weaver's "option" for better or worse will run out eventually.
  13. That's like comparing apples to squid. Second is a position that Weeks does have talent for. If Weeks was still in AAA and being switched to, say, catcher, just to get his bat in the lineup, then it would be an apt comparison. I don't think that's true at all. Weeks has played 2b for a long, long time and is at this point and time a below average second baseman defensively who is struggling this year with the bat. Now there comes a point and time where Weeks may have to be moved off of 2b, but Nelson has played less than half his games in the OF so in my mind there is still potential to become a player who can play the field. What is Nelson lacking? Instincts? Some of these so called "instincts" are coachable and get better through experience (i.e. facing the same hitter multiple times, knowing the path of of fly balls, etc). My point is Weeks isn't average at 2b and has been there a long time -- Nelson has played OF less than half of his career. I don't think Nelson is lacking the tools to develop into an average OF. I like Brad Nelson. He is going to be a decent hitter. But he just doesn't have the ability to play any position other than first. I will just agree to disagree with you. I've seen Nelson enough in the OF to have the opinion that he can make it in the OF in the bigs. I respect your opposite opinion.
  14. He's destroyed PCL pitching. His career OPS is .800+. He's a very useful bench player type for a contending team, and I'm grateful the Brewers signed him. I have no idea why Gwynn Jr. is a Brewer & Branyan isn't, but I digress. Agreed. I know the site is known for it's Branyan love and some think that is the only reason he gets praise because he's Branyan, but he's putting together a pretty darn good season in AAA. There's is one clear reason why he should be in Milwaukee: He's a lefty with big-time pop. The Brewers have a glaring lack of that beside Prince and it's even more glaring while Prince is somewhat of a power funk and hasn't heated up just quite yet. Gwynn is a nice player and all, but he has no real future with the Brewers -- time to trade him. Back to DiFelice -- I've been hoping this guy would get a shot eventually. His numbers with the Brewers organization have been very good. It's time to see whether he's one of those AAAA players without a real + pitch or if there's some MLB talent behind the stats. Good luck Mark!
  15. There is no reason to clear any 40 man room, there is more than enough space as it is. I disagree. I'd rather have my 40-man with the most flexibility right now and get rid of players who don't have a reasonably good future with the Brewers. This will allow the Brewers to not have to DFA a player down the stretch and lose him to another team. I see Jackson on the 40-man similar to Drew Anderson on the 40-man -- it's a waste of a 40-man spot and limits flexibility down the stretch.
  16. And I think you need to be realistic. Yes, he has the ability to improve. But we're talking a couple hundred fly balls a day for at least a couple of years for him to get to the point of being regarded as below average. If he was 19, then I would be much more optimistic. Nelson needs a position if he's ever going to develop his outfield skills. It's more than common knowledge that Kremblas moves almost every fielder to the outfield a few times a year in hopes of making them more versatile and in the future more likely to make it in the bigs. Nelson has been the odd ball during his time in the Brewers organization and has moved around to make room for other prospects. But he's 25. The time to improve at a position to the point where he can play it in the majors is just about over. I could say almost the exact same thing about Rickie Weeks. Should we just simply write him off? I'm not saying Nelson will be an All-Star, but I think there is the potential that he could be an everyday player in the bigs. I really don't think it will be in Milwaukee, but I think he deserves a shot at some point. I do find it pretty impressive that he's struck out as much as he's walked up to this point (20 and 20). He may actually be a pretty good fit later in the year for the Brewers as a player that puts the ball in play, works the count, and limits his strike outs to a certain extent -- and he's a left handed bat off the bench.
  17. Hmm... Shouldn't Ned Yost get some credit here? Does anybody remember reading about a mechanics flaw that Ned helped Kendall correct? Or was that just something Ned said? I remember hearing that too. Ned does deserve some credit here. I expect Kendall's number will go down a bit, but he's a pretty big upgrade over what we had last year. I would like to see him get a few more days off so he doesn't breakdown later on in the season, but he is a "gamer".
  18. I absolutely love this! Send a message. No matter how good you've been if you stop strikes you're going down. I don't really have a problem with Stetter getting sent down. The choice of Jackson is what I have a problem with -- there are much better options in my eyes (and more deserving to a certain extent) Bray, Dillard, and I think Pena would do better. If the Brewers feel they NEED to have 2 lefties in the pen, I'd rather they trade for one than have to watch Jackson get crushed in Boston. The only way I see this as a decent move is if Jackson struggles they DFA him and see if he clears. If he does, than we can take him off the 40-man roster and put someone else (Bray, Branyan, etc) on the 40-man and make it easier to call them up when/if needed. Why not call up Branyan or Nelson to DH?
  19. I'm not a huge fan of this by any means. ZachJack has gotten rocked in Nashville. The Brewers had a very short leash on Stetter it appears.
  20. Does anyone know how fast Jones has been throwing this year? I'll have a chance to finally see him in Huntsville now!
  21. I seriously never thought a player in Milwaukee would actually either accept or request a no-trade clause. I believe Suppan has a no trade clause of some sort in his contract.
  22. He has no instincts for the outfield. Not from what I've seen at some games. I'll give you that he's not great or will ever be anything than a below average to average outfielder, but come on -- the statements you're making are way off base and not realistic in terms of the comparisons. I do believe Nelson will improve in the outfield once that position is deemed his future (if that happens). I think you really need to take into context the fact that Nelson has played 338 games out of 715 games in the outfield. That's less than half of his games in the outfield. I find your comparisons far from reality and I expect Nelson to improve in what you call "instincts" and I believe he has the physical tools to play OF in the bigs at an acceptable level.
  23. Stephen Hawking might be better in the outfield than Brad Nelson. Manny Ramirez will win a Gold Glove before Brad Nelson is even considered mediocre. I disagree with that. Nelson is a little bit more athletic than he's given credit for and he's worked a lot on his defense during his current stint in Nashville. I think he could play the corner OF spots and 1B. He could play 3B in the bigs, but it would only be in a situation where he's an emergency replacement because the other 3b/IF are hurt. He does an ok job in AAA there, but his range is quite limited.
  24. Braun's deal could be worth $51 million if he qualifies as a super 2. Details below: http://blogs.jsonline.com/brewers/archive/2008/05/15/braun-deal-could-go-to-51-million.aspx
  25. I'm finding home runs to be annoying. Everytime I hit one I have to cross my fingers that the game won't freeze. For some reason, every so often, I'll hit a home run and the hitter will just sit there and the plate and won't run the bases. I can hit START and just go to END GAME, but then the home run doesn't get recorded. All these stupid blips are annoying the crap out of me. I haven't had this problem...yet. There is one thing that I really annoy about the game and it's certain infield pop ups. This has cost me a few runs when I'm pitching, but there might be a way around it. If a hitter hits an infield pop up between 1st and 2nd (or a variety of other spots) I get the catcher as the fielder and I have to try and get him to the ball before it drops for a hit. Is there a button to switch the "default" fielder the game gives you? Sometimes Rickie, JJ, or Prince bail out my catcher, but one of the last games I played the ball dropped and I had the bases loaded, with two outs, and two runs ended up scoring.
