  1. I found this today on MSN, apparently all direct deposits will go out this week. Checks that are being mailed out have been moved up as well. From the article: I don't think this is entirely true. Per your link: About 7.7 million payments will be deposited this week, as many as 800,000 today, according to the IRS. About 1.6 million more will go out Tuesday and Wednesday. All told, about 130 million taxpayers will receive rebates. I have to imagine more than 7.7 million payments out of 130 million are direct deposits. That schedule doesn't appear to be all that accurate and everything I've seen doesn't state all direct deposits will go out May 2nd. I just think those receiving the checks this week are a few days ahead of schedule.
  2. I don't know if this should be in the minor league forum, but when is Bush's first schedule start with the Sounds?
  3. A struggling offense tonight to be sure, but this quote is ridiculously inaccurate. How? They are playing bad right now and they're more home run/slugging hitters than they are on base guys. It's like a jump shooting basketball team. When the shots fall the team is great, but when they don't it's ugly.
  4. Don't tell me what to do. If this team keeps playing like crap then it's not going to matter who comes back. I don't know if I'd go that far...if 2007 Braun and Fielder come back you may feel differently...
  5. We weren't Yosted today. We were Offensed today. Thank you. There is no way in heck we were Yosted. If the offense doesn't score 3 runs or more, we're not Yosted in my mind. The silent bats are the cause. I really felt after Prince's 2 HR performance the other game the bats would wake up.
  6. I don't want to vent too much, but the Marlins are hitting good pitches by Mota to score runs...in a game that our offense couldn't plate one run in 9 innings. Come on...this is a joke. Weeks, Hardy, Fielder, Braun, Hart, Hall -- where the h e double hockey stick is this offense? I'm not blaming the pitchers at all lately -- the Brewers struggles are clearly on a bad offensive team that is filled with "sluggers".
  7. I don't like Yost's defense there. Bad throw by JJ, but it was a risk.
  8. this is really a non story. I agree with your statement, but I don't agree with this point. It is a story because a player is admitting it and admitting it during a playoff series when said player is not playing that well. The whole NBA population does this or that, but to flat out admit you do it "only" in the off-season is pretty crazy. The NBA has to improve their testing policies. They seem to be way behind the NFL and MLB.
  9. then draft Brian Butch in the second round for some bench help. No to Butch. He's probably not going to get drafted. I'm sure he'll get a free agent type deal, but chances are he'll be in Europe next year.
  10. I'd much rather have Suppan than Davis and I say that as someone who doesn't really think Suppan is a good pitcher. Even with the big difference in contracts (this is assuming Suppan doesn't get traded and plays out his contract)?
  11. Based on what? Doug Davis was gone that next year, and he's really just a 4/5 type starter. I think the fact that we could have had a much cheaper Davis than an expensive Suppan is why the deal wasn't all that great. I guess it boils down to thoughts on Davis vs. Suppan. It would also give us a lefty in the rotation (I don't think Parra is going to be in the rotation all year).
  12. Well, holding Philly to one run would have helped the Brewers chances. Agreed, but the Brewers would still have to score. The Brewers should be able to win plenty of games only giving up 3 runs, but the offense just isn't clicking quite yet. Riske is a multiple inning guy usually and the fact that we don't have an off day this week means we have to try to get use out him. Hopefully the Crew can hold them to zero in the 9th and only have to make up two runs.
  13. In the 8th inning of a 1-1 game I think I would bring in a left-hander to face the league's hottest hitter who also happens to be left-handed. The problem is the Brewers were hurt by more than Utley. Riske didn't do his job and it wasn't his day. If the Brewers lose and score one run, it's a moot point anyways. It's awfully hard to win ball games when you only score one run.
  14. I'm feeling a Braun home run coming up...
  15. I don't get the constant calls for bringing in more relief pitchers. Riske didn't do his job. It's that plain and simple and if we took a relief pitcher out after every bad pitch we'd burn our bullpen to the ground.
  16. I disagree. Counsell has pretty even splits against RHers and LHers, -- as much as Counsell is a PHing solution -- it's not as if he has extreme splits (like Gross). Counsell PHing would have been better than letting Bush hit and then giving up the 2b to Werth in the 7th I think it's a different story if it's Hart or Weeks at first base or for that matter someone with more speed than JJ. Even if Counsell gets a hit it'd take a deep double to score JJ. That's the way I see it. The only way Counsell works is if he gets a deep double or if Kendall gets a hit. I think at that point it was a good choice, but I can see both sides.
  17. I'd say Gagné for now, but I do like Mota a lot. We'll see over the next few weeks if the adjustments Maddux made with Mota's delivery has produced the good results now or not. We will by and large need a #2 closer though given Gagné doesn't appear to be able to handle a Cordero type load.
  18. How much velocity does this guy have?
  19. Melvin isn't a moron, before just flat out waiving Safarte, i highly doubt that he did so without first assessing if he had any trade value. He couldn't have been traded when they released him. It was past the deadline. As far as the bored thing, I really think you're taking it a bit too far. It's not directly pointed at Sarfate, but others who have been mentioned in this thread. Look at Mike Rivera's AAA stats last year. Not all that impressive. There comes a point and time for some players after being in the minors for years that you begin to wonder if you'll have a shot. As far as referring to Melvin as a moron, I didn't make that reference at all. Melvin can make mistakes like any other general manager can and he's shown that he can make them in the past. I just don't think the situation was handled the best. I still believe Sarfate had trade value. The fact that he's been on 2 major league teams since points to that face in my opinion.
  20. I talked with Tony on Friday. He said his injury is pretty much gone and feels great. He was pretty pumped to get back to playing baseball -- even in the minors.
  21. I do understand Turnbow to a certain degree. Stetter going 3 is stretching it -- I think he could get it done and if he's sent down in a few days it doesn't matter. The bullpen is spent so I really don't have too many complaints. My first would be if Turnbow is wild early to get McClung or whoever else can pitch to warm up.
  22. Who pitches the 9th bf nation? Who gets your vote? Call me stupid, but I think I may stick with Stetter.
  23. Haha awful managing by Manuel. Let's send him out for another inning when he already has 110 pitches. Oh Manueled again! -- That should be in blue/sarcastic. Seriously though -- who does bf.net want to pitch in the 9th?
  24. "That at bat for the year" -- I don't know about that Bill...we'll see.
  25. NIiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice! Atta boy Prince! Not only 2 hrs tonight....but 2 on a lefty!
