  1. Historically the Brewers have drawn really nice crowds on Thursday afternoons in May. Someone can correct me if I am wrong, but I believe a lot of area schools take field trips to games in May. Could anyone that went to the game confirm if there were thousands of grade schoolers running around?
  2. Let's hope they take the brooms to Chicago with them. There is nothing I enjoy more than the Brewers beating the Scrubs.
  3. I vote that from here on out #23 be referred to as rickiE wEEks.
  4. I really don't think anyone needs to worry about Prince not being in the lineup tonight. He has started vs. other lefties this year on several occasions. I think the decision last night was based on a combination of factors, including Pettite is a tougher lefty, Prince hadn't had a day off in a while and it was getaway day, and Cirillo had absolutely killed Pettite in his career. Factor in that Yost needs to get Hall at bats at 3B when he can and JJ and Rickie had just gotten days off, and Prince was the odd man out. BTW, Cirillo went 3 for 5 last night and Prince had a PH double, so I don't know what the big deal is.
  5. I don't know if this was posted yet somewhere else, but I found this blurb from a Tim Kurkijan column that came out last Saturday: Dang, it feels good to be a Crew fan.
  6. I was actually thinking he kind of looked like Stiffler> http://www.thehairstyler.com/images/celebrity/Celebritym_212.jpg http://mlb.mlb.com/images/players/mugshot/ph_433657.jpg
  7. As of right now there are 2097 registered users. Not sure how many are active though.
  8. We just moved to Ridgeway last September, but my wife grew up there. My wife also teaches in the Dodgeville school district, so she probably knows your brother. Small world.
  9. Is Doug Davis going to lose his job?
  10. From yesterday's recap: Nashville?s Nelson Cruz made a game-saving, over-the-shoulder catch in the top of the 10th inning on a ball hit deep to right center by Scott Seabol. Cruz then turned around and doubled up Chris Duncan to end the inning and the Redbirds scoring threat. From today's recap: Nashville right fielder Nelson Cruz -- who recorded a hit for the 15th time in 16 Triple-A contests -- made a spectacular leaping grab at the wall in right on Schumaker?s ball, robbing the Redbird of his sixth home run of the season and temporarily securing the Sounds? lead. So is anyone still upset about the Ginter trade? Anyone? Bueller? Man I hope Nelson gets a legitimate shot at making the big club out of ST next year. And if Lehr can contribute to the Brewers like he has been lately at AAA... I think Mark A. better lock up DM thorugh 2010. If I get time one of these days I will try to write an article detailing all of the major moves Melvin has made over the past 3 years.
  11. Do you remember When Mr. De Los Santos Was our best prospect?
  12. I personally think the league needs more catching Molinas.
  13. It is vital that Bow doesn't mess around. D Lee is due up 5th, so he can't allow more than one baserunner. This also makes that throw by Moeller last inning even larger.
  14. Interesting to note that every starter except for Sheets has a hit today.
  15. That's nothing. On one Cubs message board last night, fans were declaring their season over following DD's dobule.
  16. Patrick, I know the draft can be a crapshoot, but based on what you have been hearing, what are the odds that the Brewers will be in a position to take one of the following players: Upton Gordon Zimmerman Maybin Everything that I have been hearing indicates that the M's will take Tulo, which would allow the Brewers (most likely) to take either Zimmerman or Maybin. Personally, I would be happy with any of these 4.
  17. I will probably get it at the Brewers Clubhouse in Brookfield Square. I got an official Sexson one made in December 2000 and it cost about $250 (well, at least I got 3 good years out of it). Kind of pricey, but Hardy should be around longer than that, and I really like the kid. Of course, as soon as I buy it, the Brewers will announce a uniform change and it will be out of style.
  18. I am not sure why anyone would be rooting against Hardy. His D is major league ready and I think he will surprise with his stick. In fact, I am about ready to go buy a #7 Hardy jersey. He will soon become a fan favorite.
  19. Not sure if it is a coincidence or not, but of the first 14 hitters, Santos is the only one today that has swung at the first pitch.

  21. Since some of you may not check the Minor League forum regularly... According to a first-hand account from a poster on the ESPN board that just got back from seeing Mark Rogers pitch.. Link Looks like he was pretty impressive. His line: 2 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 BB, 5 K, 1 HBP Faced 7 batters, struck out 5, hit one, one ground out to SS. Only 3 batters put the bat on the ball (2 foul balls, the grounder to SS) Edit: Since I forgot to include the word SWEEP in my post, I wonder if any of the guys packed their sweep suits to wear on the trip to Pittsburgh for the upcoming four game series.

  23. Anyone else starting to get just a little uneasy about Gallardo? It's not like it has been forever, but the Crew has seemed pretty aggressive in signing early picks thus far and he's still unsigned. I wouldn?t worry too much yet. Here is a little background info to refresh your memory on the last two HS 2nd rounders drafted by the Crew: From JSOnline article on talks with Mike Jones (6/26/01): Talks have not progressed nearly as well with the Brewers' second-round pick, high school shortstop J.J. Hardy of Tucson. "The best way to put it is that it doesn't have the same pace," Zduriencik said. Hardy ended up signing on July 16th. Murray supposedly wasn?t expected to be a tough sign, but it still took until June 28th to sign him. Maybe Patrick can verify this, but it seems that 2nd rounders are usually tougher to sign than 1st or 3rd rounders. Here is the data from BA for this year so far: 1st Round: 53% signed (16/30) 2nd Round: 30% signed (9/30) 3rd Round: 80% signed (24/30) I guess what I am trying to say is I wouldn?t loose a lot of sleep yet, especially given the posts by hscoach.
  24. WARNING: I have no insider knowledge, and this is pure conjecture on my part, but? I think the Brewers plan to sign Bowman and that he will get 2nd round money. My assumption is based on the following: 1. Last year, Rickie Weeks signed major-league deal that will guarantee him a minimum of $4.8 million. If he reaches the majors in 2006 (which is very likely), then it becomes $5.1 million. Mark Rogers recently signed for a $2.2 million signing bonus. This is almost $3 million the Brewers saved on their first round pick alone. 2. Team Canada has already noted that they drafted a lot of players as potential DFE candidates. That, combined with the depth of the minor league system right now and the closing of the DR academy leads me to believe the Brewers will sign fewer picks than they did last year. These two scenarios suggest they have some extra bucks to spend on guys top guys like Bowman, LeClerq, Chapman, Kretzschmar, Morgan, Pryor, etc. At this point, I can?t really argue with the strategy of targeting certain guys and doing what it takes to sign them. In JZ and DM we trust!!
  25. According to this article, it looks like Kinney will not be starting Saturday: Yost likes Kinney in the pen Someone also noted that Yost reiterated this on the pregame show today. Looks like one of Wise, Burba, or Kieschnick will get the start Saturday.
