1. Maybe I just misremembered because of the timing. At any point during Hall's at bat Prince should have been taking off with the crack of the bat, but he waited until the count was full to indicate that Fielder would be getting an advantage. To his credit, maybe he started to say what I thought he said but then realized his mistake and bailed out by saying "with the crack of the bat." (edit: nested quote --1992)
2. I generally like BA, but he made two mistakes in the 9th last night that had me scatching my head. First, when Corey Hart came up, he said that he had an RBI walk back in the fourth. Acutally, it was Kendall that had the RBI walk. Then a batter later, with Prince on 2nd with two outs, Billy Hall worked the count full. BA said something to the effect that now Prince has a better chance to score since he will be taking off with the pitch. Really? With no one on first? Why - so he can get thrown out at third if Hall walked? I'm usually not too picky, but when my wife even picks up on these mistakes...
3. Durham gets the start tonight at 2B, per Haudricourt's blog. 2B Ray Durham SS JJ Hardy LF Ryan Braun 1B Prince Fielder RF Corey Hart 3B Bill Hall CF Mike Cameron C Jason Kendall P Ben Sheets
4. Roque gets nod for opening day over struggling Karl By Drew Olsonof the Journal Sentinel staff March 30, 1999 Berry adds power to Brewers lineup By Tom Haudricourtof the Journal Sentinel staff December 08, 1998 Relegated to platoon status with the Houston Astros, Sean Berry does not see himself as a part-timer with the Milwaukee Brewers. http://www2.jsonline.com/sports/brew/image/mugs/gberry1208.jpg Berry "I didn't come here to sit the bench. I want to play every day," said Berry, who arrived in town Tuesday night after signing a two-year, free-agent deal with the Brewers. Frustrated in previous attempts to address their shortcomings this winter, the Brewers finally achieved a breakthrough by adding some badly needed right-handed pop to their lineup. A third baseman by trade, Berry will play first base for Milwaukee. United Press International 10-05-1998 Brewers extend Bando three years MILWAUKEE, Oct. 5 (UPI) _ The Milwaukee Brewers today (Monday) extended the contract of general manager Sal Bando three years through the 2001 season. Financial terms were not disclosed. The 54-year-old Bando was extended even though the team just suffered its sixth straight losing season. He has been in his current post since Oct. 8, 1991, which ties him for the fifth-longest tenure in baseball among active general managers. ``Sal is the right person to make us a winning team,'' said Wendy Selig-Prieb, Brewers president and chief executive officer.

6. The first two games of this series have been won in large part thanks to two of the most popular whipping boys this year - Rickie Weeks and Bill Hall. If those two get on a roll...
7. It looks like the Brewers are about to sign Jay Gibbons to a minor leauge deal. http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/baseball/bal-sp.bbnotes22jul22,0,5720289.story?track=rss
8. The end of last night's game got me thinking. Is it possible for a pitcher to record two blown saves in one game? Obviously Torres got a blown save and a win last night, but if he would have given up 3 runs in the 10th, would he have been credited with two blown saves?
9. My wife and I got hooked on Sweet Tomatoes when we were out in Phoenix last year for Spring Training. Not sure if you would consider it fast food, but it is a buffet place that is known for its extensive selection of salad, soups, and homeade focaccia breads. It also has strawberry lemonade that is to die for. Unfortunately there are none in Wisconsin, but we did go to one they recently opened in Waukegan when we took the boys to Great America a few weeks ago.
10. Not as unlucky as the letter "B" has been for the Cubs: Bartman Billy goat Baker (and his excellent handling of Wood and Prior)
11. I see that Braun picked his agent to pitch to him. I am really surprised that he didn't pick Mota or Gagne. Maybe he couldn't choose between the two and this was his way out.
12. Brewers fans in Wisconsin with Charter, mark your calendars for August 20, which is the date that FSN HD will finally be available! http://www.madison.com/tct/mad/topstories/295524
13. It's funny that you should bring this up. I actually wrote an article 5 years ago for Brewerfan.net about this very topic: http://www.brewerfan.net/ViewArticle.do?articleId=139 The problem was that I was scouring game logs to calculate the data and it was too time consuming to continue. It is nice to see that there are other resources out there now that make it easeir to find info.
14. When I was in college I lived on the trifecta of Ritz crackers, Peanut M&M's, and Mountain Dew.
15. Make sure to go to Al Johnson's in Sister Bay for breakfast and order the Sweedish pancakes with strawberries and whipped cream. If you're lucky you might even get to see the goats on the grass roof.
16. Something seems very familiar about this whole scenario. The Brewers bring up a third baseman from AAA in late May and he proceeds to go on an absolute tear the first month he is up, putting up "video game" numbers. Where have I seen this before?
17. This can be combined with the colbyjack appreciation thread if necessary, but I wanted to bring attention to the article and get colby some more props. Nice mention of the site as well. http://www.madison.com/tct/sports/brewers/289401
18. We could really use Dana Eveland right about now. Maybe we could see if Billy Beane would trade him to us for Johnny Estrada, Claudio Vargas, and Greg Aquino. Oh, wait....
19. This game is starting to remind me of the July 23 game last year when Harang pitched 10 innings and got the W in a 2-1 game by only throwing 121 pitches. At least Balfour isn't around anymore to blow it.
20. When will the Brewers finally learn and put Carlos Zambrano on their schedule magnet?
21. Fun fact: All 10 Brewers' position players that have had an AB today have at least one hit.

23. I have been able to refrain from posting in this thread all year. I have also stayed away from any threads discussing Ned Yost (mostly because I think he does a decent job, which is not a very popular opinion). However, someone needs to take his "book" and smack him upside the head with it. When you are tied for the division lead with 12 games left, and you have an extra inning game on the road, it is absolutely inexcusable to lose the game without having your all-star closer make an appearance, especially when he has had two days off. I could write more, but I am too frustrated to type anything that would make sense.
24. Al posted in his blog that the local San Diego affiliate has picked up a previously untelevised game because there is a high likelyhood that the Sept. 29 game vs the Brewers will be picked up by Fox. This means two things: 1) The popular Fan Appreciation Night will become Fan Appreciation Afternoon, and 2) It would free up a game for FSN, which would allow them to pick up the Sept. 30 game
25. I may be wrong, but I am pretty sure that Molitor got his 3000th hit on September 16, 1996. I seem to remember thinking it was cool that Molly got to 3000 on Robin's birthday. I believe he stole his 500th base on August 8, 1998.
