  1. This will probably sound a tad crazy but I don't have to do all that much editing at all when I film, my trigger finger does most of the editing for me, I only film what I really want to see. Now when other people film, it's much more difficult and usually I'm buzzing a few seconds off of each pitch or play from the front and the back. Normally for the video I've posted up on YouTube of the T-Rats, I only have to edit when I forget to shut off the camera because I'm peaking at the stalker or watching the play in the field. I use Pinnacle Studio 11 Plus (I haven't upgraded to 12) for all of my editing and have been for many years. When I do highlight films I get way more fancy with menus, transitions, etc.. For these videos most of the work is very quick, just dragging clips around with the mouse to get all of the pitches in a row, and so on. The only effects a video will get is if someone says something hateful, then I slide volume for that clip down to zero. Many people get by with Windows Movie Maker, and it will do most of the same things if you have a good understanding of XML, since I don't I went a different direction, and I've been very comfortable with Pinnacle Studio, but I've been using it since version 8.
  2. I like Braddock more than Jeffress now that he's healthy and effective again. I would flop Heckathorn and Peralta on your list as well... My gut impression is that Heckathorn may have a career path like Frederickson where it takes him a while to get his delivery/mechanics straightened out.
  3. I took a little bit different tact this time as all of the stalker guns were directly behind me. Since I couldn't get my usual seats in row I it was easier just to film the pitchers and ask/listen about the pitches/velocity than chart pitches myself. Adams fastball looks to be very straight, as it's not over powering he's going to have to locate it much better or do a better job keeping hitters off balance with his breaking stuff.
  4. I would pay $5 more per ticket if I could be guaranteed that no clowns would be moving in and out of the seating area while there is action on the field.
  5. I went to the T-Rats game, it's nice to end the day on a win after a dismal Brewer loss. Observations... First, the umpiring was HORRIBLE. The plate umpire had an inconsistent zone which was wide off the outside corner and the base ump gifted 2 outs to the T-Rats on plays that weren't even close. Secondly, the Kane County pitchers who sat behind me, what excellent young men they were, I was impressed. I got my gun readings today from them and a scout sitting behind me. The SP for KC fell down twice fielding swinging bunts, Trejo would have been out by 3 steps on his IF basehit. Kemp takes the ball where ever it is pitched, the more I see of him, the more I like his bat. Lawrie was there sitting on the isle in section 101, and there's nothing visible to let you know he just had surgery, he spent most of his time signing autographs. Steven Braun got the loudest ovations I've heard since I've been going to games, all because of who his brother is... was kind of weird actually. The more I see of Juan Sanchez, the more I like this kid, his double was off the top of the wall in the 2nd. Dennis and Sanchez both run better than I initially gave them credit for. Delaney and Duran... if they never attempt another steal when I'm at the game I'll be happy. The KC pitchers called the CS for Kemp, when the kid got to first they told me he would steal on the first pitch, and when he did and got thrown out there were some comedic comments passed both ways. Trejo again displayed his athleticism... it really is too bad he's not ready to hit at this level. He made a diving play on a bad throw, he was off the bag a good 2 feet and the base ump called the KC batter out in the 6th. The whole stadium groaned at the call it was so obvious. His last strike out reminded me of the "lay off the high ones" scene from A League of Their Own. Marseco made a nice play in the hole and just barely got the batter, I didn't think his arm was that strong, but he brings it for a little guy. I still haven't seen him get the ball out of the infield though. Meadows BB in 5th with Desme batting was an unintentional/intentional walk. Hook made a visit to the mound, and they didn't put anything in the zone, and he didn't chase. Braun's error was on a pretty routine play a couple of steps to his left, somehow he whiffed it and the ball socked him square in the shin, that couldn't have felt good. I hate to bag on Delaney again but his range isn't good, I do like his walk up music though. Pitching wise Adams was mostly working between 89-91, the fastest pitch the scout recorded was 92. Forgot to mention it looked early like he wasn't following through, I haven't captured the video yet, but that was my impression watching the ball sail wide on him. Meadows was working mid to upper 80s. Ohlmann was exactly the same as last time, upper 80s on the pitches I asked about.
  6. When I talked about his velocity, I was getting it off of the Stalker Gun from the kids sitting right in front of me, not the stadium gun.
  7. Battlekow is a stud, nuff said.
  8. Because when you're passing inside information, you don't name names, or next time you don't get the information. If I told you something important and you ran around and told the world "Seth said Kevin wants to date Julie", chances are Kevin isn't going to tell Seth anything ever again, nor will Seth tell you anything because you blabbed it to the world.
  9. was that a mis link there battlekow? the link is another Stock brother article. Never mind, I skimmed it the first time and then found the single line about the invitation upon closer inspection...
  10. Adams is starting tonight... hmm, decisions, decisions... I'll have to think on this but I may go down there and grab some video of him.
  11. Arnett has already pitched over 100 innings, 108 I think. If he's pitching in WI it will probably be out of the pen. I don't see him starting. You forgot Periard who's working out with WI though an official roster move hasn't been made yet.
  12. After getting frustrated with the 5th inning of the big league game I went MiLB stat hunting... I go around and look at leader boards both team and individual, hitting and pitching, for the various leagues. This usually how I run across my trade targets from other organizations.. at any rate, I'm looking at the Midwest League team standings and WI is 3rd to last with a .244 average, but only .005 from being tied for last. The current OBP of .318 ends up 5th from the bottom, which happens to be a paltry .305. The team OPS is also 5th from the bottom at .691, the bottom being .647. Pitching wise WI is right smack dab in the middle at 7th place with an overall ERA 4.17. Peripheral wise they've recorded the 3rd most Strike Outs at 473, while Fort Wayne is leading with 506. The really bad is that WI leads the league in Walks, giving up 227 BB so far this season, the next closest team is Dayton at 213, the leading club is South Bend with 150. They flip it around again on the HR rate, giving up only 23 all season, the leading team Lansing has given up 22. Hit wise WI ends up right back in the middle having giving up 485, but predictably the team WHIP is putrid with all the free passes, at 1.46 they are only .02 from the bottom. Individual Hitting... no T-Rats are in the top 10 for AVE because Dennis doesn't qualify, but Kemp is 13th with a .308, the leader is Charles Culter from Quad Cities with .371 AVE. OBP wise no WI player is in the top 20, Kemp is in the low 20s, the leading player is James Darnell from FT Wayne with a .463. Looking at the SLG Kemp is again the leading WI player, much further down, Josh Vitters is leading the league with a .580, this is Vitters first time through the league though he did get a taste last season. As far as OPS goes, Kemp once again is the leading Brewer at .840 while Lawrie pulls in with an .811. The best OPS in the league is 19 year old LF Jeff Decker from Ft Wayne with a .998, his stat line is pretty impressive. Individual Pitching... no T-Rats are in the top 10 for ERA, Peralta has the best ERA of qualified WI players at 3.88, the league leader is Kenny Smalley from Kane County with a minuscule 2.03. The K leader is Brett Lorin (remember this name) of Clinton with 73 already, the closest WI player is Peralta at 56. Brett Hunter of Kane County has given up the most free passes with 43, Frederickson is 4th with 31, the best with more than 50 IP is Henderson Alvarez of Lansing with 9 total BB in 61.1IP. Clinton has both of the WHIP leaders, Brett Lorin at .89 and Aaron Pribanic with a .93. Lorin is 22 years old from Cal State Long Beach, Pribanic is also 22 from Nebraska Lincoln. I was curious about the average age of all the teams, but couldn't find a quick list to see how WI stacks up and I'm way too lazy to go through and add all that up and average it all out.
  13. It still bothers me that those plays where an OF gets a glove on a fly ball and drops it are treated differently than ground balls are. What's the difference? If the player gets the glove and it should have been an out, then it's an error. Just like when an OF lets a ball get through him and it's a 3B instead of a single with a 2 base error, or the dive where the player really didn't need to dive and drops the ball... I was always an OF for the most part, played some 1B here and there because I was LH, but I've always thought infielders get the shaft error wise or outfielders have it way too easy.
  14. Going through more of the draft profiles and videos... Richardson ran a 6.2 60 yard dash, wow... I hope he settles in and learns how to hit. Hall looks to be another kid with a big arm and plate potential, which got me wondering if Arnett will be able to swing the bat a little. Burgos sounds a little bit like a poor man's Dave Bush. Davis is intriguing, there's some upside there, though any time I read a description about a long swing I'm a little nervous. Stang draws comparisons to Pence, that's intriguing. Like many others I'm curious if they'll be able to sign Gennett.
  15. Yes.I just watched his scouting video and I'm seriously wondering why he was a better choice than James? Where's the upside with this pick? With James at least if he flames out as a starter the potential is there for a decent bullpen role and he's young enough he could still add some velocity. I would have liked to get at least 1 projectable LHP SP out of the first 10 rounds, I say boo to this pick.
  16. I was hoping the Brewers would revisit both Adams and Weaver. Weaver certainly could have been had late and it's not the like lower levels are flooded with quality 3B prospects at the moment. I realize his production didn't come against the best competition, but since they have to round out the rosters anyway, take a chance!
  17. I was always in the Sheets was injury prone camp, but it appears to me that he was misdiagnosed by the medical staff, which led to him further injuring his arm, which led to surgery, which cost us 2 draft picks. If our medical staff didn't have a history of misdiagnosis and/or dragging their feet treating injuries I might be upset with Ben, but in this case I believe the Brewers did themselves in. Sheets was going to take the ball because he knew he was entering FA and had to make a statement so he certainly pushed himself some, but I still feel the majority of the blame lands squarely on the shoulders of the team. And no, I don't think Yost was anyway responsible for the injury. The problem I have with the system is that LAA and the Brewers should have had compensation picks 1 and 2 respectively for losing the top 2 Free Agents in the class, the system as it stands is just silly.
  18. It too bad Rogers and Braddock are on pitch counts, they could have piggy backed this second game in it's entirety and saved the bullpen.
  19. I was thinking about this, where are the pitchers going to get their work in? Helena would almost have a full staff with last year's draftees who are still in EST... Would they push players like Lasker back to AZ in favor of some of the college pitchers who would also belong in Helena? Does Arnett skip Helena and head to WI, keeping someone like Odorizzi in rookie ball again? Do they dump some of the AA starters creating room for the players at A+ and A to move up? There are some interesting decisions to made pitching wise.
  20. Isn't Pokorny a reliever? I'm at work and it's tough doing research here on the web. I was disappointed that they didn't pick up James, hopefully he doesn't sign with the Rays and we have a shot at him later. I like HS LHP that already throw 90+, and I'll always take a SP over a RP, he was a low radar guy so I had some hope. I realize I'm being a homer here, but if James signs I will always be doing my private comparison between the 2 players. Lame Rays!
