  1. No Hardy was not drafted as a power threat, he was drafted as a slick fielding SS but many teams were looking at him as a possible pitcher as well. After his High Desert stint national publications started to talk about power potential and he's gotten a little bit better every year. He was never projected to be a 25 HR guy at the MLB level, he's just worked hard in the weight room to get himself where he is.
  2. My goodness... it's like a swamp, the FSL has been frustrating this season.
  3. I second Logan on Mass Effect, I really enjoyed both ME and KOTOR. I didn't realize this was another Star Wars MMPORG. I've MMPORG'd a ton in my past, and I'm not sure I'd be willing to head down that path again. I got started with UO, beta tested and played EQ, then beta tested WOW but never played in final. When it came time to commit money towards another MMPORG I just decided to go a different way. I guess I just got tired of grinding through all the time sinks. I enjoyed the end game of EQ, the large raids, but loot distribution was a nightmare as people never had enough loot, even they were the best outfitted character on the server. The headaches of managing loot with the huge time commitments eventually got the best of me. I got to the point where I was running 3 characters at one time on most raids just to keep myself occupied and interested but even then it got stale. Now I'm mostly a single player RPG and FPS guy, games like Oblivion, Fallout3, the COD series, GOW, and Halo (the original will always be a special game, Halo3... *sigh*).
  4. I don't want to go through another lengthy WAR comparison between players but I do want to point out that we have 1 year and 3.5 months left of JJ's services which will be around 7 WAR using his 2008/2007 numbers. If the Brewers aren't going to resign him, they better have a solid plan in place to replace that production. I was always on the Escobar + pitcher bandwagon to replace his production, but I think we missed our window on that deal and I get that people don't like Escobar's bat, which is fine. I don't see Heether as a starting SS, though I haven't ever seen him play in person nor have I seen video of him playing, but just based on his lack of experience at the position I don't think it's a viable option. He's played even less 2B in his career, I'd like to see him get more experience at both spots but that's probably not going to happen with Escobar and Iribarren in AAA with him. The more positions he plays, the better off he'll be.
  5. Gillespie hasn't hit since the move up to AAA, how is that an apt comparison? I'm not all over the Heether bandwagon, but I'm certainly not on any of the 3 you mentioned either. At least I think Gillespie and Katin are very good depth, I just wasn't into slappy Gwynn at all. I wish him all the best in SD though, I have nothing against him, he was just never going to hit for double digit HRs, he's not my kind of player. All 4 players would have started for the 2002 Brewers but thankfully the organization has a much better talent base now.
  6. You better spill the beans on Monday mr Secrets!
  7. It will be David Price... book it.
  8. He'll be a utility player for the Brewers next season, maybe this season if something happens to McGehee
  9. T-Rats game postponed, Double Header tomorrow with 2 7 inning games. I don't know why I even bothered to drive down there. One comment on Star Wars night... couldn't they have found young attractive people to be Princess Leia for example? The kids seemed to enjoy it anyhow. edit. Bowman pitches well in his BC debut, I'll take those peripherals every time out, can't complain about a W either. Mercedes continues his tear on the season. Krestalude gets some action and gives up a run in 2 innings. Farris, Wilson, and Maldonada with 2 hits a piece. Gindl with a HR and Brewer with a 2B. Escobar with 2 hits including a double, and Heather with another hit and an RBI early for Nashville but Dillard is struggling and Nashville down 4-1 in the 4th. Hand served up a homer in the first and then settled in, Green and Lucroy with hits and Schafer with a BB! Huntsville down 2-1 in the 5th.
  10. I hope the T-Rats get the game in tonight, it's raining so I probably won't video if it continues, but I'd like to watch some more baseball.
  11. If you take Melvin's word on this subject at face then yes, it was in the JS during spring training. He hasn't approached JJ and Hardy's camp hasn't approached him. Every athlete who's a decent guy says he likes the town where he's playing, those are throw away comments. I'm sure Fielder would say the same thing and he'll chase the money regardless as will Hardy. It would be nice if one time an athlete would actually take a lesser contract in baseball, but when was the last time that actually happened in FA? Players go where the most money is, end of story.
  12. 50 pitches. They said it would be evaluated again at the break, I'm hoping they change their minds a bit sooner than that.
  13. He doesn't mess around, he's very aggressive.
  14. As I mentioned in the link report I missed his HR, sorry.
  15. Lawrie makes the turn on a DP around the 1:20 mark.
  16. Here's the video from Friday Night's win. I didn't get to the game till the top of the 2nd.
  17. I give up... how can they trade Escobar without resigning Hardy? What's the more likely scenario? Just about every proposal in this Forum has different Escobar scenarios. If JJ had 4 years before FA then you could absolutely move Escobar, hoping to have time to develop another player or resign JJ long-term. JJ has less than 2 years, and the organization hasn't even discussed an extension with him. The writing is on the wall for Hardy... I recommend accepting it and moving on.
  18. Maybe I'll ask Adams what's up tomorrow, I hate to bother the kids though.
  19. Wasn't Adams skipped? Shouldn't it be his turn in the rotation?
  20. I got to the WI game late because of a DSL issue at work, I didn't get in the stadium till the top of the 2nd so I missed Lawrie's blast. I've haven't seen the Rattlers successfully steal a base yet, and they are getting caught on plays that aren't even close. Merklinger had a guy picked off in the 2nd but BK didn't get the relay to Lawrie in time. I wish I would have had video of it because once the runner went I started watching Lawrie and didn't see why BK was so slow. When Trejo actually makes contact, he's got power. Kemp's PO on a throw all the way through to 2nd behind the runner was pretty sweet, I hope I had the camera on long enough to see it. They tried the play later in the game and almost got the runner again. Sanchez looks comfortable regardless what position he plays, I'm liking him as a utility guy if nothing else down the road. He made a very nice sliding catch to end the 6th. Kemp's 2B was an opposite field line drive right down the RF line, the RF had trouble with it in the corner and he still couldn't take 3. I like his bat but wow is he slow. I liked what he did behind the dish better than McCraw as well, not anywhere near as many balls were getting through him. Since moving up in the order Dennis looks different, like he's trying to be perfect maybe? He's striking out way too often, tonight looking twice, he's not protecting the plate very well. He may be correct about the strike zone and better umpires might agree with him as he moves up, but right now he's got to protect and drive the ball. Later in the game, on both Trejo's and Sanchez's doubles, the Cedar Rapids LF looked lost, he couldn't find the wall either time. Sanchez's double was probably a double regardless, but Trejo's should have been caught, he looked real bad trying to catch those balls. Almonte looked hittable, he topped around 91 and didn't have much movement on his fastball. Ritchie threw 1 pitch, hitting 91 on the gun. Merklinger topped out at 87 on the stalker. Cody Adams is a funny dude, he was working the stalker tonight it just so happened his "getting to know me" segment was on the board... one of his favorite bands... Eric Komatsu... what was best about his home town... he was born there.
  21. I REALLY miss archived audio, we're missing out on so much great information.
