  1. That was actually Monday afternoon and the Sounds are off till Thursday.
  2. He has good movement on his fastball but that's about it, he doesn't throw very hard, hitting 87 twice when I watched him.
  3. When both Frederickson and Peralta don't walk anyone, I'm a happy camper.
  4. Is Davis an upside pick though? I think both pitchers were, I'd rather not draft polish if it lacks upside. It's not like the system is short on OF prospects.
  5. WI has nailed 3 players stealing 2B today, not sure what's up but that's an interesting development.
  6. X is friggen unbelievable.
  7. A passed ball and wild pitch cost Jeffress a run in the 2nd.
  8. Ya they keep saying the same things about the kids, but they don't have the right people to do analysis of the picks. This will improve... I'd like to compare it to the original NFL draft coverage on ESPN, but I've been following that draft for so long I don't even remember the first year.
  9. Brewer is hitting a very respectable .296 over his last ten.
  10. Adams is pitching in relief next series, I didn't even notice and Chris smacked me down.
  11. I'm actually both, all of my Brewer memorabilia is Hardy related, but Hardy isn't going to be moved in season, especially when we are leading the division.
  12. X I hope they take Dominquez for you this year, if so your rocket armed monster quote from last year is going to be my sig for a while.. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  13. Err why? He's a decent player, but why would we trade hitting for more hitting, and why would Boston want to make that deal? Who's going to play CF for them? Baldelli? An aging Kotsay?
  14. Then you have my sincere apology.
  15. His current .783 is much closer to .800 than .750... again, you need to verify your stats prior to posting incorrect lines.
  16. We're seriously going to get bent out of shape over a 2 month sample? His career numbers suggest that he'll always be a better hitter vs LHP than RHP, but it won't be platoonish extreme. His career .280 average against RHP is pretty much exactly where I'd expect him to settle in at the MLB level for his total BA. However if you're wondering his splits have been trending positvely since '06 along with the rest of his offensive numbers. Again, at AAA you get pitchers that know how to pitch, or guys with big arms that can't locate. Anyone with a big arm arm and control is going to have a career path similar to Yo, Linecum, etc. Those guys fly through the minors and we're concerned with limiting their IP to keep their arms together through the injury nexus. AAA pitchers are more your Mark DiFelice and Chris Cody type where our primary concern is if they will continue to get hitters out, not how many IP they can pitch... guys that don't throw hard but know how to pitch, and he's faced very few pitchers of that type as he's moved up. Alcides is doing exactly what he's done at every level, he starts a bit slow then builds up as the season progresses. I was serious over the winter when I thought he'd start out replacement levelish and build from there, I think he'd be better than a 2 WAR player this year had he come up, and a good 4 WAR or better pitcher plus Escobar's WAR would have been more valuable than Hardy whos a 4.5 to 5.0 type player. Hardy is clearly the superior player today, I'm not advocating Escobar over Hardy nor will I until Hardy is gone. He's not going to fill out his body spending time in AAA, that much I will say I'm certain of. In fact, he's not going to fill out that twigish frame until he quits playing winter ball and concentrates on lifting some weights. He could easily add 10 LBS of muscle each off season and become a guy who's capable of 20 HR. He's capable of hitting double digits in a single MLB season now, he proved that last year, which is a testament to his raw athleticism more so than any power potential. He will slump here soonish, he's been hiting very well for extended periord of time, but that won't make him any more or less ready than he is today. He'll basically be the same player in Sept than he is today, because the one area he really needs to work on isn't really workable in season. I'm not even sure he'll ever put the time into the weight room that Hardy did, that's a personal choice, and I'm not sure that every player will make that choice.
  17. Almonte my goodness, I'm not sure what others thought from the video but his fastball looked very hittable to me. He throws hard enough, but not hard enough he can get bye throwing fastballs without locating another pitch.
  18. Neither Escobar or Heether will outproduce Hardy this season, but I think you are confusing production with development. I think I spelled out my position in the other thread so I'll leave it at that. Hardy is the best option today and will remain so until he gets traded or leaves via FA, and I personally feel he's unlikely to be moved anytime soon.
  19. Yea he's just barely hanging on alright... Strawman argument? Please... arbitrarily saying he's not ready without giving any support is garbage, and you've said repeatedly there's no reason to rush him. If you're worried about his peak years, then sign the kid to Braun type deal, that's what they should be doing with all the kids in this next crop. Sign them till they are 30 then let them go. You might want to double check your stats next time as well. He's up near .800... and he's been trending positively for a month. He doesn't have to hit like Hardy to be MLB ready, if the expectation for prospects to be ready is all-star level play, then how many prospects are ever "ready"? He's ready right now, but it doesn't mean he's the best option and I would never claim he should play over Hardy. Melvin has admitted he's ready, and Macha's long list of issues were all fairly minor adjustments with the exception of being more selective, and that's not something that will happen over night. Every single article I've read that talks about developing selectivity at the plate says it happens over years not months, but that one facet of his game isn't enough to claim he's not ready, nor is a 2 month sample against RHP. Again, compare Escobar to his peers, not to Hardy, and "ready" is a developmental term that has nothing to do with actual production on the field, those 2 areas will not necessarily go hand in hand. I really don't think people have a good grasp of AAA baseball or player development if they think Escobar will be significantly different player for the brewers in 2011 or 2012 than he is today. Unfortunately for Alcides he doesn't have a spot to play nor will he until one of the 2 get traded, and I don't see Melvin making move for either one. I was hoping with Gamel and Salome producing over Hall and Kendell that Escobar might make sense next season, but Salome's campaign has been extremely disappointing thus far. Next time bring more to the table than a "strawman" whine.
  20. again, Escobar's readiness has nothing to do with Hardy. That's a developmental issue when team thinks his game has progressed to the point of being MLB ready. He will not replace Hardy's production this year or next year because he won't hit 20ish HRs, but that has nothing to do with his readiness.
  21. He's been in the minors 5 full seasons, he hasn't been rushed regardless of what people continue to post. His readiness has nothing to do with his Age, MLEs, or projections... people continually confuse development with projections.
  22. Escobar isn't ready yet according to whom? I don't get understand this line of thinking at all... he'd be replacing an All-Star SS, so how would he force his way on to the roster the way Weeks, Braun, and Gamel did? He's not going to hit 25 HR this year or next year... Melvin has even acknowledged he's ready, he'd be up in 2 weeks if Hardy wasn't on the roster. He needs to be more selective at the plate, that's about it, and you could say that about most of the players the Brewers have on the 25 man roster. His defense at SS has been near spotless since April, he's making good contact again as the 2B are back and his average is climbing. He may very well be forced to repeat AAA, but that will be entirely outside of his control, he's done enough to earn his shot. Escobar repeating AAA would be a funtion of Melvin missing his trade window with Hardy more so than anything Alcides has done or not done. X said it best, AAA isn't as much a step up as it is a different style of pitching. The competition will be slightly better because of all the veterans that play in AAA, but it's not like AAA is some proving ground, it's a storage place for depth.
  23. My dad and I had a debate about bunting or not, I was fine without it, though when they hit into a DP I dipped down in my seat a bit. I was really bitter about the 2 curve balls though, he didn't have his best stuff, that was obvious from the start, but why not get beat throwing your best pitch than hanging 2 curve balls? Throw the change up! I wanted to know why Smith wasn't an option when watching the game?
