  1. "We're Not Gonna Take It" I use it for highlight films... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tongue.gif
  2. Gamel and Salome continue mashing... Gillespie with an 0 for so far, but with 2 walks. His secondary numbers are very good, too bad he just isn't getting hits. Edit. I've been following the DFEs pretty closely. Helena Roster: Haydel has been... not so good at the plate, not in the lineup tonight, but he plays a mean center field, he's made some very nice plays already. Bryson has been very good thus far in 2 appearances, 4.2IP 0.00 ERA 3H 0BB 7SO. Tyson has been good in 3 appearances, he gave up 2 runs in 3.0 on a HR the other day so his line is 5IP 2R 3H 1BB 2SO. Robinson hasn't made an appearance yet, he's active and not on the DL, but I haven't caught any information on him from the hand full of broadcasts I've been able to catch as to why he's not pitching. Arizona: Crosby has only played twice and is batting .167 through 6 ABs, but the sample is so small it doesn't mean anything to me at this point. I was hoping he'd be in Helena so there would at least be some audio type observations of the young man.
  3. I don't want to get into an arguement about splits and platoons. Platoons might look good on paper, but they aren't a very cost effective way to run a ball club. Year in and year out for it to be viable you'd have to find a very cheap 750ish OPS half of the platoon to keep it going. I get the arguements for platooning, but to me it's more of a stop gap measure than a permanent way to manage one's roster. Therefore, I'd rather they not pickup his option for next year. Personally I think it depends how fast they think they can push LaPorta, so we'll see.
  4. I just noticed it's an afternoon game... boo! *sigh* I need like 30 extra days off just for the crew...
  5. Boo, I wanted Corey Brewer or Conley jr for reasons others have stated previously.
  6. I'd say it's pretty much a lock that they are gone, and unfortunately Sarfate too. It stinks really, because I'm still holding out hope until the very end for a turn around. Especially with Dennis, he throws so hard that if he could just locate his pitches, look out. I have a bad feeling he's going to end up JDLR and figure it out someplace else. The flip side is that you can only give a guy so many chances before you have to move on. Especially since they have a realistic shot to contend this year and for the next 4-5 seasons easy.
  7. ha... the last 2 comments made me laugh out loud. At some point, if he doesn't improve, he'll have to move someplace. I gotta be honest, I don't pay attention to errors because I always assumed he'd be moved so I'm unsure if they are mostly catching or throwing, or split down the middle.
  8. My dislike of the Cubs has grown to such epic proportions that I will be highly disappointed with anything less than a sweep. That being said, as long as the Crew wins 1 they are still in a good position.
  9. Plunking up high doesn't mean the head... the ole hit em in the rump would be more like hit him between the shoulder blades. Maybe he gets out of the way, maybe he doesn't...
  10. All the good things Bill Hall does not negate my opinion that he stands in the box way too long on his home runs. He's not Howard, Bonds, or even Fielder. Someone is going to plunk him up high to send a message at some point.
  11. It's true across all sports though, not just baseball, so I don't think having last raps means anything except in extra innings.
  12. He said "at this time", which to me they don't want to sign an injured highschool pitcher. If he heals up great, if not, why waste the money?
  13. The best reason not to start Yo all year is his health. It's fun to poke fun at the Cubs for how they handled Prior and Wood, but how good would the Cubs be with those 2 guys in the rotation? In no way do I want Milwaukee to repeat the same mistake they made with Nuegy, or the Cubs made with Prior and Wood, and the Giants may make with Lincecum. A healthy career for Yo is much more important to me than 200+ innings of him this year.
  14. I like that thinking X... Gwynn + averagish prospect for a bullpen arm.
  15. Dare I say that with a win the crew matches the high water point of the season at 14 over .500?
  16. I'm not down at all with booing Carlos Lee. He's got his many flaws, but I don't doubt that he enjoyed his time in Milwaukee. He took big money to play a game, something we would all do if we had the opportunity. It's not his fault the economics of the game stink.
  17. Apparently the BoSox deal is dead because they wouldn't give up the minor league pitchers the ChiSox wanted. I would expect any deal for a player of Buehrle's caliber to include a stud pitching prospect coming back. My problem isn't trading prospects that have no where to go, my problem is trading away valuable pitching prospects, which you can never have enough of. edit. I should add that ESPN was reporting the trade thing during Game Night on my way home in the car.
  18. Just got home and boo-freaking-hiss... Helena needs to win otherwise it's a clean sweep of the minor league teams tonight, pretty poor pitching again.
  19. Is Gwynn top talent? Would the Sox really trade a stud pitcher for Gwynn and some bottom of the heap pitchers? They'd want Inman or Jeffress, a pitcher with some potential coming back. With the relative lack of success the organization has had developing pitchers, that worries me. It's one thing to give up Gwynn, Gross, Jackson, Capellan... it's another to give up Salome, Inman, Jeffress...
  20. True enough, but that talent is much farther away from MLB than the talent they gave up.
  21. Serious question for those that want to aquire a rent a player for the stretch run. If that talent costs top minor league prospects, how exactly does the crew replace the talent they lost in the future? It's not like the team can afford to overspend in a free agency every year. Or is that because they're winning this year they need to win the world series and nothing else matters so replishening talent doesn't matter?
  22. You must have missed the broadcasts when the fact that 22 other teams have used more lineups than the Brewers came out?
  23. To answer your question, which is buried in 3 or 4 other Yo/Bush/Vargas threads.. Bush doesn't pitch well from the stretch. Yo doesn't have 200+ innings in his arm.
  24. Ohh yea, about Villy... if he's one of the best 5 pitchers on the team, he better be in the rotation where we can get 200+ innings out of him. Limiting him to 70-80 innings every year would be a considerable waste of resources in my opinion. Unless you bring up someone who's been injury prone like Parra and make him a starter next year, then it doesn't hurt to have that insurance. Long term though, I hope Villy is in the rotation.
