  1. End forgot Halo3 on Sept 25th, unless he's not a Halo fan.
  2. Is this the longest outing of Wise's career?
  3. This is weird. Granted Balfour did what he does when he gives up runs and put up a 3 spot yesterday, but why pitch Wise today? Why not Manny? So he can go 2 weeks between pitching?
  4. Everytime I think the lineup stinks they score more runs than the previous day...
  5. They must have added the extra stats in Gameday to Miller Park during the all-star break? I've been able to watch or listen to every game since then. This is the first time I've noticed the extras for a home a game.
  6. me too, yay... no radio here at work.
  7. It seems that all of the gamecasts things are tied together. EPSN, MLB, and Yahoo are all stuck on 0-1 to Livan. For some reason I thought they were all managed in house, apparently they all utilize the same feed from MLB.
  8. The PS2 was not superior to the Xbox... I liked my Dreamcast better than my PS2. Xbox had better video, Dreamcast had better sound, I let my brother take my PS2 when he moved out for nothing. I still miss Crazy Taxi.
  9. Couldn't Wise and Turnbow have just been running to the clubhouse to hop on the net and read about this rumor?
  10. Why no Hart exactly? Prove me wrong boys.
  11. I agree that you can do both... but like I said, for me and my friends video games were option 4 or 5, for the kids I'm coaching now it's option 1 or 2, depending on if they have a girlfriend or not. It's different for everyone, just like anything else, however I'm very comfortable saying that the majority of my boys have spent more time on the console than the field or court, and that's why we haven't been very good.
  12. If he'd sign for a similar contract as he has now the Brewers will consider it. If he wants a contract that is market value... he's gone.
  13. I'm a Yost apologist for sure. I'm not big on bagging on and second guessing every decision the coaching staff makes for the reasons I've posted many times in the past. I think Ned is doing what he's always done... He's very patient in the first half, he'll stick with a guy as long as he can. However in the second half he has a short leash, especially when there are other alternatives. I thought his biggest mistake last year was riding Jenkins too long. The one area I think needed improvement and he's now improving on is his bullpen management. I thought it was perfect management last night letting Villy go 2 and skipping TBow. Now he has a closer for today to give Coco a day off if needed. He also has a fresh Wise, Balfour, and Parra in the pen. I think it a bit too convienent to always be blaming Ned for everything that doesn't work out well in a game. I've seen improvement in his managing style every season, especially this one as he's finally managing a contender.
  14. Shaping up to be an organizational clean sweep. Here's hoping that Salome steadily improves his defense, cause the kid is a masher at the plate. If he takes off next year when he opens at AA I hope they promote him agressively if he deserves it. I'm actually looking forward to a Cpt Lou and Salome duo behind the plate in the future. Gindl stinks, he's no longer batting .500 on the season, how disappointing is that?! Quite the pitching performances tonight, good night to be a Brewer fan.
  15. Wow I never noticed how much TGJ sounds like his father... it's amazing.
  16. Dillon doesn't have a role in Milwaukee except as a pinch hitter, if a GM wants Dillon, Melvin will not stand in his way of a chance to play in the bigs. He hasn't in the past, and I don't see him doing that now. I completely agree with Al on this one, Melvin's track record on this pretty much speaks for itself.
  17. Well from the second episode I thought that JC = Jesus Christ... Even if it's not intentional he sure looks like a prophet at this point. I must say, that had I known where the show was going, I wouldn't have watched it. However, not knowing much about it forced me to keep an open mind, and I enjoy the show immensly.
  18. To answer Russ's question, no in my opinion kids aren't outside playing games of much of anything anymore. It doesn't matter if it's basketball, baseball, or football. It's much easier to sit on the couch and play the video game and think it means something. I remember getting in trouble because we didn't want to come in the house, whining to mom because there was still daylight left. Somewhere along the line that script has gotten flipped, and now kids have to be forced to go outside. The seniors in '98 were our last class of kids that had a good understanding of sports as a whole. When you play everyday, even just pickup games, you learn the nuances of the game. We have to teach everything about the sport now, and it's weird for me, because somehow these were things I always just understood. I'm sure someone pointed us in the right direction at some point, but mostly we just played hard and figured things out on our own as we went along. For example, I was talking to the kids about baseball and the Brewer's struggles last season on a long September bus trip out to MN for a Big Ten football game. The conversation gradually turned to the struggles the highschool team has been having, which led me to ask questions about pitching. I was shocked to learn that they had no idea to try and work both sides of the plate, low and away, up and in and so on. The kids that pitched were "just trying to throw strikes" and the catchers basically let the pitchers call whatever they wanted. That was little league baseball, but by the time we were playing Babe Ruth that sort of mentality was gone. The simple truth is that if one doesn't play the game and one doesn't watch or listen to the games, then one doesn't know anything about the game. I don't want to comment on Soccer as my opinions would cause more trouble than it's worth. I also game and always have, but being good at the game for real always meant more to me than being good at the video game. Gaming was just an extension of the competition if it was raining or if we had to come inside for the night. Even when I was older and in high school, we'd game only when we didn't have other options.
  19. I'm unsure why people keep suggesting we trade young pitching for established more expensive pitching that will walk sooner than later. Maybe I'm just stubborn about young pitching.
  20. www.hardballtimes.com/mai...-part-one/ The definition of a LOOGY right there for you.
  21. I've posted before that I've always found the concept of a LOOGY very troubling considering that even the best hitters get themselves out 60% of the time. I just don't see how a relief pitcher adds value 1/3 of an inning at a time. I'm willing to be proven wrong but I just don't see the value in wasting a pitcher when the odds are already in the defense's favor, regardless of who's at the plate. I get splits... but even if a left handed hitter rakes and hits .350 against righties, he's still going to get himself out more often than not. I have no problem switching to a lefty, but why not a lefty than can get more than one batter?
  22. Well my answer would depend on the prospects... if Gwynn, Jackson, Sarfate are the prospects... then whatever upgrades the pen or our depth elsewhere. If Inman, Jeffress, Salome, Brewer are the prospects, I veto! The thing is though, the more I think about this the last month or so, other than another setup type reliever (more for next year), what does the Crew really need that they don't have? Aside of course from a superstar like Griffey, which the Brewers will never be able to afford with the original club eating up salary for us. I felt all along that Braun and Yo would give the team a lift, and I feel the same way about Balfour and Parra down the road. Are their some small holes that could be plugged? Sure... but at what price?
  23. I haven't laughed this much reading a thread over here in a long time, that was comedy after a long day. I'm just sorry I missed the threads...
