  1. The 1901 team wasn't the only attempt at having a Milwaukee Brewers here before Selig's team was born. According to a bio on Philadelphia A's great and HOFer Al Simmons: Al, by the way, is buried in St. Adalbert's Cemetery here in Milwaukee. Not a bad idea to drop by and pay respects, leave flowers. I have done so multiple times. Link above has more info. http://s3.amazonaws.com/findagrave/photos/2001/222/simmonsal.jpg -Rp
  2. I keep thinking about this. The Brewers would make up said money from the Cubs and Cards with attendance from the Twins, Yankees and Red Sox all of which draw well here. Not to mention there is another Chicago team that would travel here, has been successful lately - could make for a decent rivalry and I don't doubt that something wouldn't be worked out for a series w/ the Cubs and Cards each year still. When you take that into effect there is more revenue to be made from being in the AL. Not to mention I think Milwaukee would do better to have Cleveland and Detroit come into town over Pittsburgh or Cincinnati. What it comes down to is revenue and I can't see the Cubs and the Cards alone financially trumping the attendance the AL teams would draw here.... especially when you consider the possibility of still having a series with each team. Yeah we'd have to pay for an extra hitter but I would think the extra revenue would make a bump in payroll possible. Personally I am all for it. I loved going to AL games without having to drive to Chicago to see the White Sox. Rp

  4. I have to say I liked RBI Baseball for the NES first and Baseball Stars for the NES second. Honorable mentions: MLB for the NES (think RBI Baseball with every team and complete rosters), Baseball Stars for Neo Geo (incredibly fun arcade experience baseball game), World Series Baseball 2 on Sega Saturn and MLB 2K7 (Now if they could make the running a little better and the fielding a little smoother....) Rp
  5. "What if Sheets gets sprayed by a skunk in his yard, and is out until May, and Ned tabs Prince Fielder as our Opening Day starting pitcher?" LOL, that was classic and could happen. :shakes head: Personally while there is a good point above about there being no guarantees about a player substitution changing the outcome of the game I went to a ton of games the last two years where every person in the stands knew the struggling pitchers were finished and Ned left them out there Grady Little-style to blow the game. I don't really know if I buy the 3-4 games tops line when you could go through all of those ridiculous lost leads from last year and probably pick out more than 3-4 where if Yost had made a change he could have at least stopped the bleeding early enough. It might not have been a complete heal but it would have at least been a temporary tourniquet to give you a CHANCE to get out of a jam. And that's sorta what I am driving at. Would every switch work and win the game? No way. But most times he didn't make the switch at all and left the reliever in until it was way too late. Or at least that's my perspective from attending games last year. Rp
  6. I really don't want to trade Cappy. I still think he can turn it around. We'd definitely have to add prospects for them to even be interested in dealing with us. -Rp
  7. I got Madden last year for my 360 and the game blew. The menus were horrible to navigate, that radio announcer actually makes you long for Madden and Michaels and I still have yet to figure out why the heck they paid for the ESPN rights when they never use any of them (At least the NFL 2K series always used the ESPN graphics and halftime/postgame features). I tried All Pro Football 2K8 and while it's not better than Madden last year, it was decent. If only someone could wake the NFL up to the fact that without a competitor, NFL games are going to become rather complacent and not improve all that much. EA needs someone to push them to put forth the best NFL product they can. As it stands the Madden franchise seems stuck in a spot where they pray the great graphics makes up for the crappy gameplay. 9. I agree. I felt the same way last night. Estrada, IMO, is the worst defensive catcher in baseball. He can't throw anybody out, he is overweight and has no mobility... one can wonder how much effect his pitch calling has had on a staff that was supposed to be way better last year. I'd actually love to see the splits about how the pitchers perform when Estrada starts versus when Miller starts. Anyone willing to take that up? Rp
  10. We need THAT guy. We're seriously going to have to address our rotation next year. I think Sheets and Yo are locks and Cappy probably has earned a second chance but we could use another front end starter for this rotation. I'd be willing to pay half of Soup's salary to dump him to the Pirates at this point if it freed up $5 million towards a good pitcher. Rp
  11. From the same article: "The Marlins are willing to listen to offers for Miguel Olivo, and will likely deal him rather than re-sign the arbitration-eligible catcher after his current contract expires." Think he'd be a good replacement option for Estrada after this season? Rp
  12. I agree.. For some reason Milwaukee fans have been booing former players like nuts. Last year I was sort of amazed how hard Victor Santos got booed. This year I was against the Milwaukee fans booing Carlos Lee (not just booing him, doing the "CAR-LOS, CAR-LOS, CAR-LOS... YOU SUCK!" chant which Carlos was good natured about) when he didn't ask to be traded and in trading him we netted a pretty solid player in Cordero who has helped this team win a lot of games. If a guy is a jerk on the way out of town then by all means he deserves it, but most of these guys didn't ask to be released or traded and don't deserve the boos. Rp
  13. I just wanted to let everyone know these are gone pending a trade w/ funkx0r. Thanks also to Warriors76 for the trade we made. Rp
  14. Sorry guys bball123h got these first. Thanks for looking! Rp
  15. I cannot make today's game and it should be close to if not completely sold out. I have decent TR seats in the first row of TR so there's no railings in the way, great sight lines, pretty good seats. Not nosebleed by any stretch of the imagination. Section 418, Row 9, Seats 10-13 If anyone is interested I can make the swap (I live in Milwaukee) all the way up to 6pm. Face value of the tix would be $52, I'd be willing to sell them for $25. Drop me a PM. -Rp
  16. I have two powder blue Ben Oglivie bobbles and one blue Ted Simmons for trade... I also have a blue Jim Gantner (out of the box) that I would trade for a pinstripe Gantner and another of the mini-bobbles. I don't need the powder blue ones as much as I am trying to collect the entire set for my son to display. Looking for: -2007 Prince Fielder bobble -2007 Don Sutton mini -2007 Gorman Thomas mini -2007 Charlie Moore mini -Upcoming Harvey Kuenn mini -Upcoming Don Money mini -Rollie Fingers bobble If anyone wants to make a swap PM me and we'll set up an arrangement. I live in Milwaukee so an in person swap is certainly doable. Rp
  17. 4 tickets for Friday's game. Sec. 418, Row 9, Seats 10-13 First row of TR. No railings in your view, excellent sight lines (between 1st and Home), nobody walks through your aisle (major bonus). Would like to get face value for the tickets. PM me and we'll set up a swap ASAP. I live in Milwaukee. Rp
  18. Drop me a PM and we can discuss a swap. Rp
  19. *sigh* The interested party in two of the July 31st tickets backed out. All 8 tickets are still available. Rp
  20. I have four tickets to the following games: July 31st (Mets) Sec. 418, Row 9, Seats 10-13 August 4th (Phillies) Sec. 418, Row 9, Seats 10-13 The seats are first row of TR, GREAT sight lines (between 1st and Home) no railings in your view and over a tunnel where you'll never have to stand up for someone walking through your aisle. Terrific seats... Selling for face value ($52 per game). Drop me a PM and we can arrange a swap. Rp
  21. You know for all of Canseco's faults (and he has many) he has been pretty much right on this whole steroid scandal. He named names in his book that implicated some players that actually got caught later and while ESPN and everybody was mocking him or laughing at him for his book, he was the one who came out right and a lot of "intelligent" sports writers came off looking like idiots. Rp
  22. I'm to the point where if Yost doesn't get fired then we're not trying to win. A team this talented should never be this horrible on the road. We don't beat any of the teams we should beat and every losing team has stepped up and taken a solid knock at us with complete success the past 5 out of 7 series or so. I know there's a lot of "stay the course" people on here... those are the same people who would have said the same in Seattle year after year when they were close to contention and management never got them any help at the trading deadline and they fell short, or the same people that will say we'll be better next year once their stay the course plan falls apart at the end of this season. Yost has had quite a few years now to show us his team can do better but they're not. He might not be the one playing the games, but he's choosing the poor lineups, making the bad bullpen calls and making quizzical substitutions. This team does the same thing every year. Starts strong, chokes in July and stinks on the road. It's time for a change. Rp
  23. I have four tickets to the game. Sec. 418, row 9 seat 10-13, if you're interested. Face value is $52. Drop me a PM and we can talk further. Rp
  24. NIN is amazing, although I prefer the spectacle of their arena shows with the really cool lights and ambiance Trent sets with his shows. The one band I love but that are terrible live is Sevendust. Lajon smokes during his performance and because of it seems to struggle holding notes and sounds raspy during the shows. It sucks because he has a great voice but smoking during a concert is a surefire way to kill your sound. Rp
  25. I don't see the reason why people should be upset here. It's not like Inman was a sure fire top of the rotation starter and we kept Jeffries and Parra so our best minor league pitchers are still there. Linebrink is an upgrade over ever single part of our pen maybe sans Coco. Our pen needed the help as Wise and Villanueva could not carry this thing alone. Shouse is limited, Spurling is shaky at best, Turnbow is either really on or will self implode and take the game with him, Dessens and Aquino don't seem like viable options and personally I would rather keep Parra in AAA for him to develop. We needed an elite middle of the pen reliever especially if we're serious about making a playoff run and Will Inman wouldn't be much of an option as a starter down the line anyways. I like the move. Now if we could move Mench and find a miracle way to add Dunn I would be psyched. :-) Rp
