  1. Chances of Braun hitting .350 this year? I go with about 30%
  2. Yo has been exceptionally good in his first 3 starts at limiting damage to 1 or 2 runs.. he needs to give training to Bush and Vargas... or as I like to call Bush entrada el grande
  3. He was just nervous waiting for his TV Debut.. now that it is over he will be fine : )
  4. I think eventually Weeks will hit 6th.. Jenks/Mench will bat 7th and the catcher will bat 8th... at least I hope that is the way it goes... unbelievable that the top 6 would be: Hart Hardy Braun Fielder Hall Weeks Can't believe that not one of them flamed out in the minors.. nice picking Jack Z. In two years when you add Laporte/Gillepsie and Salome to that lineup it will be even more amazing.
  5. Woogie had time to do the sweep graphic since he didn't have to redo the Brewers bullpen graphic with Sheets going the distance... : )
  6. Well I haven't seen either of them go past 6 with any success this year.. I for some reason just like Vargas better.. I don't see Bush having a goto out pitch while Vargas seems to miss more bats.. of course that might mean he is better suited for the pen.
  7. I wonder if Dave Bush is watching this game and working on throwing from the stretch..
  8. Kinda weird hoping someone gets on so the pitcher gets to knock them in..
  9. Hall, Estrada, Mench, and Weeks would have been our top 4 hitters 3 years ago...
  10. Listening to anything Keith Law has too say is about as valuable as listening to: Steve Phillips John Kruk I would much more take John Sickel's word on LaPorta.
  11. John Sickel's Pre-draft comments on Laporta before the daft. More can be found on this web-site at www.minorleagueball.com The hitter board: Matt Wieters, C, Georgia Tech Jason Heyward, OF, Henry County HS, McDonough, GA Mike Moustakas, 3B, Chatsworth HS, CA Josh Vitters, 3B, Cypress HS, CA Beau Mills, 3B, Lewis Clark State College Matt Dominguez, 3B, Chatsworth HS, CA Kevin Ahrens, 3B, Memorial HS, Houston, TX Matt LaPorta, 1B, University of Florida Devin Mesaraco, C, Punxsutawney HS, PY Corey Brown, OF, Oklahoma State Will Middlebrooks, 3B, Liberty-Elyau HS, Texarkana, TX Julio Borbon, OF, University of Tennessee I've thought about LaPorta for the last couple of hours, and I think the commentators are right to move him ahead of Brown, although I still like Brown more than Borbon. LaPorta is very close to the majors and his combination of power and contact really stands out. I then had to decide how to slot LaPorta in with Ahrens and Mesaraco, and I ended up just splitting the difference.
  12. Isn't Mclendon promoted? Is it bullpen starting day in WV or they guy from extended spring training?
  13. I think Laporta is going straight to Huntsville and they will have an OF of Laporta, Ford, and Brantley.. Who is going to sit in West Virginia with Fermaint moved back there? Either that or Gillepsie goes to Huntsville and Laporta replaces him in Brevard County as he is used to hitting in Florida already.
  14. I agree Moneyball is about finding the undervalued attributes of players... If you look at the first round there was not very many of any power bats drafted. Some will develop but if the Brewers walked away from the draft with the power bat in the first round than I am fine with the draft. If you look at their system now they have 2 polished hitters (LaPorta and Gillepsie) who could contribute in 1 - 2 years. and a some higher ceiling players (Cain, Fermaint) who could contribute in 2 - 4. I think it balances the system out... Who in the minors has greater power potential than LaPorta for the Brewers? What is interesting to me is the Catching prospects the Brewers are stockpiling (Palmisano, Salome, Bouchie, Lucruy).. this reminds me of the 1B stockpiling of a couple of years ago (Nelson, Hart, Fielder). that turned out pretty well.
  15. If Laporta or Gillepsie appears on track for 2009, the I think they will dump both Jenkins (he is back in the .270's all of a sudden) and Mench to either attempt resigning of Sheets or Coco or save arby money for Capuano, Weeks, Hardy, Fielder.. They will turn LF over to the following group: Gwynn Nix Gross
  16. When Braddock get's back and you add in Parra and Jeffress hopefully they will be set so a different one goes each day.. Of course that is until Yo gets the call.
  17. I even root for Spurling and Mench, who I think are REALLY bad. Amen brother.. I even *gulp* root for Dessens... no better feeling then when a Brewer makes me shut up like Jenkins has this year..
  18. With Gamel and Green we are pretty set at 3B.. oh and that Braun guy in Milwaukee... That said thing about Gamel is where are you going to move him? 1b with Prince there? RF with Hart there? Granted he is in hi A only so a few years to figure it out..
  19. Thanks for the link Lukevan.. now I am going to be up an extra hour... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  20. "Works 60% of the time, every time." Isn't the quote "60% of the time, it works every time" which is an accurate statement, if redundant statement.. Sorry my inner applied math major coming out.. While we are quoting dumb funny movies.. "Did we sleep together" "Yes" "Nice" - Knocked Up.. Funniest movie I have seen this year.
  21. You may be referring to Yankee fans Yes... I should have said Yankees and Sox fans..
  22. I'm glad to hear that Yost just said that he thought Turnbow was throwing the ball well tonight. At least I wasn't seeing things. I actually thought his fastball was a little to electric tonight.. it appeared to my untrained eyes to actually be moving and he couldn't command it on the corners.. His slider looked unhittable..
  23. Player of the Game: Yost For pulling the Turnbow before he gave up a 3-run jack to Alfonso and actually replacing him with Coco. I agree.. you have to give him credit for going to Coco then.... nice thing about being a manager.. your bullpen will make you look brilliant half the time.. bad thing.. you bullpen will make you look like an idiot the other half.. I always try to remember that the reason people are in the pen is they were not good enough to be a starter so we shouldn't be surprised when they blow up.
  24. Well at least they aren't New York or Boston fans so that is something to be thankful for.
