  1. Does braun steal? They likely wouldn't walk fielder since he is the winning run
  2. This one is still on the 2b ump then YunE.. Then Hart for leaving a village on the bases early
  3. Nieves is making a bid to bat 9th.. He has been brutal this year
  4. he was getting 6.5 million this year anyway so in the event of a major injury / benching this turns into a 3 year / 32.5 mil deal.. that is worse case scenario.. I think the Brewers covered themselves pretty well... with Hart / Braun / Weeks / Gallardo I would be interested to see how much money they will have saved themselves by this deal. Braun alone will be a huge steal....

  6. rluz is this mostly by switching out cameron for Gomez? or where else do you project them to be worse?
  7. I actually am expecting even better numbers for Braun and Fielder for 2 reasons: - I think the light went on for Fielder last year with his patience and he is playing for a huge contract as if he needed more motivation. That and the 5 spot should be better and he should have more people on in front of him so I could see him getting more hittable pitches. - This may be sacriligous (sp?) to some fans but to me Braun will keep acending like Pujols did.. I just see him getting better barring injury..... If he gains the patience Fielder developed last year I could see him hitting .350 with 40 home runs.. So yes I have drank the Braun koolaid..
  8. I am not excited about bringing back Davis as you mention the best we can hope for is an average starter but compared to how horrible Suppan was that is something to be excited about not to mention the Wolf should be better than Looper and Bush and Parra really can't do worse than last year and there is reason for optimism I believe..
  9. Also the following are pitching for 2010 contracts basically: Suppan Bush Parra Davis That will hopefully provide a motivation not to mention if the way to clean house on these next year it frees up $20+ million in salary not to mention Hall's salary.
  10. The other thing when you talk depth is don't you feel comfortable with the possibility of Mulder or Cappy being a fill in then Mike Burns?
  11. What I like about this is I can easily see better ERA from Gallardo and Parra and more innings as you mentioned from Yo, Wolf, and possibly Davis.. so to me it looks like more upside potential then downside risk on those projects and they already show a big improvement. When you factor in that SS/C/3B should be slightly improved it is really up to Weeks to stay healthy and Hart to get his head on straight to give them a chance..
  12. Hardy with a chance to make the first and last outs of the inning..
  13. I was thinking Hardy for one of their 5 starters with hoping for Slowey or Blackburn.. also was referring to the start of the season not now. .
  14. To be hones if I was GM at the beginning of the year I would have been talking basically with the twins on one of two trades: 1. Hardy for Slowey or Blackburn or 2. Don't pick up Cameron's option and trade Fielder (He could DH) for Slowey or Blackburn and Denard Span and put Gamel at 1b. and then use the money left over to go after a 1/2
  15. We might have had to give up Hardy and Hart for Bucholz.. now that may not look so bad but at the beginning of the season that would have been crucified. The Red Sox where as likely to trade Bucholz as we were Yo.. I agree about the mediocrity of the 2-5 pitchers but the issue is we need our hitters to start hitting. Those pitchers are what they are.. we spent our money this year on our offense (Hardy, Hart, Cameron, Fielder)
  16. I agree.. there wasn't much more they could have done once CC turned them down. I don't get the TGJ argument either.. if his name was Bob Nelson he would have been treated like Chris Duffy. There where 3 things they could have did this off-season: - Trade Hardy.. but they couldn't have gotten a Cain maybe someone like Sanchez.. maybe.. - Don't pick up Cameron's option and use that money and Looper money to go after a higher level pitcher or trade for someone in a salary dump. Of course the Hart would have to play CF and Gamel would have been in RF most likely. I look at this season this way.. It is amazing we are right around first when: - Hoffman was on the DL to start the season (cost us at least 2 wins early in the year) - Kendall, Hart, Hall, Hardy means with the pitcher 5 spots in our opening day lineup were black holes. - Our 2B who was on pace to have a great year is lost for the year. - One of our young pitchers implodes. - Our best prospect to help pitching at the beginning of the season is suspended for the year. If they keep Gamel up and let him play everyday and bury Hall on the bench or DFA and Yo stays healthy I think they will be fine. Also remember the expectations at the beginning fo the year is this was a bridge year until some of the young pitchers could get closer.
  17. The twins make me realize how much it sucks to be a Pirates fan.. the difference is we only play them 6 times and the Pirates have us like 18 times.
  18. I was just going to post that Hardy had decided to stop killing the Brewers with his bat and decided to do it with his bat and glove. When Kendall is leading off that tells you all you need to know about Hardy and Hall. The only difference between the two has Hardy has shown he can get unconscious the last couple of year's. I have given up all hope for Hall.. we should start a counter to when his contract expires.
