  1. I believe the official scorer's have now "saved" weeks about a 12 errors this year. I agree with Russ's assertion that you can't play harder with a big game but I do think that some players are not pressure players so the good players seem to play better when in actuality they just play the same. Ricky falls into the can't handle pressure category. Counsell makes that play 100 times out of 100..
  2. As a former 1B, I can confirm Rock's assertion that the toughest ball to catch is one that hits you right in the glove. There is a word for someone not brave enough to stand in and take a hit.. I can't use it in this forum so my nickname for Rickie going forward will be "Kitty"
  3. I am on the bandwagon that we need to catch the cubs so we can play the d-backs in the playoffs.. the Mets are the anti-brewers (patience, good defense).. I prefer the d-backs youth and inexperience..
  4. You are right he does which is why I added the professional pitchers playing everyday as I can go to the local park and watch beer league baseball with wooden bats play every weekend and watch a guy hit .600.. I think Lawrie will be fine.. of course I thought Rickie Weeks would become Gary Sheffield so what do I know.. I just don't like to rank a HS player that high until you can see him in the minors for a little while.
  5. I agree that Lawrie will most likely blow by him but the fact remains that he has zero professional at bats and is as likely to play 2b as C.. Also I find it hard to penalize Fryer for having Lucroy and Salome ahead of him.. 3 years ago he would have been promoted all the way to AA.... that is all I am saying.. I like to at least see someone hit a professional pitcher with a wood bat while playing everyday before saying he is better than someone who hit .330+ in a full season.
  6. 4 hits for weeks tonight.. his batting average is higher than his weight finally. Nice Job Rickie..
  7. Well.. I have to give Gagne one thing.. he has brought me closer to God as I have prayed much more frequently since he became a Brewer.
  8. that would have been a nice SF by Hart if Fielder could have moved them over..
  9. way to move them over Prince..
  10. Since he hasn't played you almost have to slot Lawrie 4th on our catchers.. 1. Salome 1b. Lucroy 3. Fryer 4. Lawrie
  11. I am still going to find a way to blame this on Gagne.. he is a human anchor on a team's momentum. The silver lining is that he seems to force a team to build character that comes in handy in the playoffs (see Boston 2007) provide a team can get there and refuse to pitch him in the playoffs.
  12. So is the a popular theory on why the IGT an Chat room are noticeably empty lately compared to the beginning of the season. I noticed this in previous year's but chalked it up to that fact that Brewers were out of it by now. My top 5 theories: - More BF.Neters at the games - Migration of BF.net members to Jsonline blog because they can yell at people irrationally and swear - Weariness of 162 games - Recession : ) Any other thoughts.
  13. my thoughts: 1. Escobar - Didn't tail off like Gamel. My prediction is he will be SS next year, Weeks will be traded and Hardy will be at 2B. 2. Salome - Catcher much more valuable than 3B and equally defensively challenged. 3. Gamel - cuts errors by 40% 4. Jeffress - Needs a couple of years to work on his craft 5. Lucroy - Lucroy makes the case that Salome may eventually need to move. 6. Green - It was nice having you here.. though I think you will be in Cleveland next year. 7. Brantley - would make a nice 4th or 5th OFer next year 8. Gillepsie - Estimated AAA 2009 Stats: .290 20HRs 86 RBI's 24 SB's.
  14. Do we get one for September or do we wait for a season ending one?
  15. Is Gagne pitching here because of the possibility he may be home with a baby the next couple of days or because they realized 12-0 is the appropriate time to pitch him.
  16. I disagree.. him pitching the 9th prevented me from downing a six pack watching Mota give up 3 and Gagne touching himself for an hour giving up 2 more until Torres got out of it while tearing his groin for the year.. much less stressful this way
  17. Prediction: June 21, 2009: (AP) New York, NY: Yankees announce that the ace they signed for 8 years and $210 million in the offseason has been placed on the 15 Day DL due to shoulder fatigue.. MRI was negative. In a related story, Sabathia's former teammate, Yovanni Gallardo, threw a no hitter against the Cubs today.
  18. By the way in case some people missed the news.. the Brewers Won! Maybe I am just crazy but when you can't enjoy a win over a division opponent maybe it is time for a mental health break..
  19. Everybody says CC wore down in the playoffs.. did he admit this anywhere.. what I have read is that he was way too pumped and tried to take too much on similar to the first Milwaukee start.. let's get to the playoffs before we start worrying about the playoffs.
  20. I guess only time will tell.. personally I am not too worried.. if this come back to haunt anybody it will be the Yankees next year. I am more worried about Braun.
  21. That is probably the last time this year we will see Kendall walked to get to CC...
  22. So how much do you think CC has made himself with this Milwaukee stint? 30-40 extra million? If I was the Mets I would open the bank for him and pair him with Santana
  23. Count me in.. my "Villy for the 8th" campaign has not been effective.
