Yeah, Moehler pitched last night and it was stated at the time that Valdes will be the starter today. They wouldn't turn around and put Moehler in there today after pitching an inning last night, would they?
Remember the good old days a couple of years ago when you used to see the pitching matchups in the link report and you used to salivate at all of the pitching prospects we had! Some nights, every level of our system had a stud on the mound. Now, I don't even recognize half of the names I see on the mound, and the one's I do recognize don't exactly leave me on the edge of my seat in anticipation.
Ralph, Would you not agree that this weekend is a huge weekend for the Brewers after being swept by the Cards? I don't know about you, but I am sick of losing seasons and would like to see us get over .500 soon. A sweep this weekend seems very unlikely for the Brewers, but that is what it's going to take to salvage this homestand. Is there anything wrong with this statement? Even if you win 2/3 against the Reds, you still have a disappointing 2-4 homestand. Not good when you are trying to have your first winning season in 13 years.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! It's days like this that I hate being a Brewers fan. Well, we have to sweep the Reds this weekend to even somewhat salvage this homestand. Won't be easy the way they are swinging the bats.
If we lose this game 1-0, it will be one of the most depressing losses of the season. Seriously, look at the team that LaRussa has thrown out there these past three games. It is basically a AAA lineup with either Pujols or Edmonds in the middle of the lineup. Heck, Pujols and Grudz aren't even in the lineup today, we have our ace on the mound, and we'll still probably lose. C'mon, this is ridiculous. The cardinals are basically trying to give us the game, and we wan't nothing to do with it.
Well, this is getting borderline ridiculous! We get two hit last night by a guy making his major league debut, and now we get to watch Jeff Suppan (Yes, Jeff Suppan) destroy us again today. C'mon, score some runs for Sheets. He deserves it!
By no means do I want to complain about what Sheets has done thus far today, but why does he continue to struggle in the 1st inning? Man, I wish he had that pitch to Eckstein back. It pains me to see him lose another low scoring game because he gave up run(s) in the 1st.
Man, this offense is starting to get very depressing again! Let's hope we aren't in the midst of another 7 game losing streak, like we've done twice already this season. C'mon boys, get the hitting shoes on again. Suppan is not that good!
Wow, Fielder now has 25 dingers and 80 rbi's! That's pretty damn impressive, especially when you consider that he missed 3 weeks when called up to the Brewers. Oh, and he was red hot when he got called up, so who knows what his numbers would be had he not been called up. I too need to stop typing to clean up the drool that is now sitting on my desk.
I agree that Moeller sucks, but I wouldn't call having a guy on first base an "offensive comeback." Now if we had runners on first and second with no one out, maybe that could be classified as a comeback.
Wow, Braun continues to rake at WV! What are the chances of him getting a promotion before the end of the season? Brevard Cty or Huntsville?? Also, Salome seems to be in a bit of a rut right now. Let's hope he doesn't follow in the footsteps of Cap'n Lou.
Anybody else worried that this kid will perform similar to Chris Saenz did last April for us when he came up to make one start. I know everyone hates to hear the "must win" phrase, but this one would be really nice to get with Sheets going Wednesday.
Hey, and look on the bright side....we have Victor Santos going tomorrow against Pedro!! Oh man, this could be the end of the season for the Brewers on this road trip.
