  1. I'm not trying to pick on you - but rather pointing this out. It has become a pet peeve of mine. Melvin is very honest with the press. If Melvin says they aren't talking - they aren't talking. When Melvin is working on a trade he will just remain silent on the topic with TH. I think Lawrie for Vazquez is a pretty fair deal, actually.
  2. Inappropriate. Walk into your boss's office and tell him how he should perform his job - let me know how it works. Macha coaches. Melvin acquires players. Braun plays baseball. Of course Braun wants to empty the entire system to get better pitching. That would benefit him the most. Melvin does what benefits the club the most.
  3. While Fiers has been amazing his in short stint in Helena, Wooten has continued his dominance all the way to Huntsville. Wooten is a month younger than Fiers.
  4. Wooten just keeps posting ridiculous numbers. Generally relief pitchers aren't exactly top "prospects" - but I am really starting to believe Wooten could be an impact pitcher in the bullpen next year.
  5. I'm sure the Indians would have administered several tests to Jeffress and found out the same thing MILB did a month later.
  6. Hard to come up with any positives about Dykstra or Cody Adams. Dykstra still gets some "prospect" love - but he hasn't done anything since being drafted. I'd rather pitch Braddock every 5th day for 3 or 4 innings than pitch him 6 innings over a 6 day span.
  7. My thoughts exactly. Bush will be ready soon - which pushes McClung back to the pen. That will probably DFA Narveson. Villanueva was amazing for a stretch of about 20 innings this year. I think he is just inconsistent - but I wouldn't even consider losing him. Chris Smith has certainly done enough to stay. In addition, I would take Swindle or Dillard from AAA in our bullpen before being interested in Herges. Not a horrible idea, but frankly, the bullpen is pretty solid.
  8. Braddock with 2 scoreless innings. Not entirely clean, however. He finished with 3 hits and 2 BBs. Wooten came in to get him out of a bases loaded jam with two out in the bottom of the 8th.
  9. The Brewers should have traded for Haren from Oakland.
  10. He is still arbitration eligible for two years. He isn't going anywhere.
  11. On a somewhat related note - At the game on Sunday, Kendall fouled a pitch back up in the Terrace Box Section 420 - mostly behind home plate. I've never seen a foul ball reach those seats. The usher, an older man, informed me that he had never seen on that far up behind home plate either. I just couldn't believe the first person to get ball that high was Kendall!?!
  12. Maybe he did twice as many steriods?
  13. I would say the biggest "knock" on Salome's defense has been recent quotes from his manager, Don Money, questioning his ability to play catcher at the major league level.
  14. I feel so vindicated to see 9 pitchers ranked above Butler and 11 pitchers ranked ahead of Rogers. I was taken to task in an earlier thread for saying there might be 10 pitchers ranked ahead of them in terms of being a "prospect". I know there is always the "likely scenario" versus "best case scenario" when ranking prospects - but I would say Braddock is above Arnett without a doubt. Braddock's ceiling is Gallardo. Arnett's ceiling is Bush.
  15. I guess we should look at this as practice. We didn't send Parra to the minors to work on his "stuff" - we sent him to learn how to recover and minimize damage when things go wrong.
  16. Braddock with another strike out. Two innings. No hits. Two strikeouts. 26 pitches/19 strikes.
  17. Braddock just pitched one inning. No hits. 1 K. Edit: He came in on a double switch - so I think he will be pitching another inning.
  18. Taylor Green. Jeremy Jeffress. Lorenzo Cain. Certainly been a disappointing year developmentally for a few Brewer farm hands. It's one thing to have a poor year - but to not even be able to play really stunts a players development.
  19. I know Braddock is pitching out of the pen - but is he on a set schedule? I'd love to know what games he will actually be pitching in. At least when listed as a starter, I only have to go to that days Link Report.
  20. That is actually not true. If you get fired for being high - you just have to claim "addiction". In the United State "addition" is recognized as a disease. You cannot lose your job because of a disease. They will suspend you without pay. But, assuming you get treatment, you can get your job back upon completion.
  21. What about Troy Glaus? I thought he was going to be able to return from his shoulder surgery this season. DeRosa isn't much better than Schumaker at second. And neither of them are anything special as a corner outfielder. So the only upgrade I see it at 3B - which I assumed was going to be Glaus later this season. Glaus = DeRosa = Schumaker If Glaus is able to contribute this year, I just don't see a big upgrade.
  22. It's kind of a tough read. My interpretation that is IF the Brewers called Jeffress up before he knew of his suspension - he would have just been fined. This is the part I don't totally understand. The player would be suspended at the major league level "the number of games already served by the Player at the Minor League level." If nothing else, if we can call him up - he could serve more of his suspension on the 40 man roster. (Seeing as the Brewers have a lot more games to play than Brevard County)
  23. If the MLBPA doesn't test for marijuana - and therefore doesn't ban players for it's use... Can the Brewers call up Jeffress? (Dumb question obviously, but with Manny playing in minors I am having a hard time figuring out how MLB and MILB mix and match with suspensions)
  24. Jeffress is an idiot. That we can all agree on - but a lifetime ban for weed?? A-Rod, Sosa, McGuire, Bonds and Manny all cheated at baseball and made MILLIONS. A-Rod was never suspended. Manny lost 50 games for using steroids. Bonds was blackballed a little at the end. And Sosa and McGuire were heroes. If the NBA handed out lifetime bans for weed there would only be 10 teams. Smoking weed isn't all that different from drinking alcohol. I'd much rather have a pitcher smoke weed than drinking and drive. I can't believe the players union agreed to this. Ludicrous.
