  1. He is bad at it. The 3B usually plays him very deep. If he even puts a mediocre bunt down the 3B line he would be safe. I would think just the threat of a bunt to bring in the 3B would open a few more lanes for him to hit through. But then, most of the things Rickie does are frustrating.
  2. Hmmm. I didn't imply that very well. I meant that for how many people hate Yost, I am surprised that no one else brought up that he might just be lying.
  3. I haven't seen any of them, so it is really hard to say... But am I the only one concerned about Escobar's 8 errors already? He is suppose to be the defensive whiz.
  4. For all the Yost bashers on this board... I don't think there was a "mystery adjustment". I think the Brewers just need to be able to justify putting him back in the closer role. (Justifying his contract) The Brewer's need a reason for us to believe he can be a closer again.
  5. Very exciting. This has been long anticipated.
  6. Gagne never should have been out there. Unreal.
  7. Doesn't it just hurt to write that?
  8. No doubt they have a decent offense. But that pitching is pretty bad. The Cub's "bunch of guys" is much better than Houston's "bunch of guys". The Brewer's should be better...but I digress. I doubt you will still think Valverde is the best closer in the NL Central by the end of the year.
  9. As a 3B, Gamel could be an absolute stud. As an OF or 1B, he could be very good. It's too early to limit him. When his defense is ready, he will get the call. But I would rather wait a year and have him playing almost every day as a quality 3B, than see him part time or in the OF. Besides, Huntsville is too fun to follow right now!
  10. I am obviously Pro-Gamel (See Avatar), but if Gamel can stick at 3B he is incredibly valuable. He still has a year and half to prove he can be a MLB 3B. I would much rather replace Hall with Gamel than Hart with LaPorta.
  11. I would imagine Gwynn for Maddux would be enough. But no way does Maddux get traded before July. The Padres have to make sure they are out of it before they start selling off assets. If they are however, that trade makes a lot of sense for both teams. (Not that Maddux would be great. But he would at least give respectable starts a la Suppan)
  12. Sounds like he has a pretty good head on his shoulders.
  13. I've reassessed. He would be the most valuable player in MLB.
  14. Salome has an OPS of over 1.000, but it is still a smaller sample size. He has done much better than "picking up where he left off". I wasn't too high on him before. (Largely because of the suspension) But I am significantly impressed thus far.
  15. At least $10 Million. Every 2+ lead would be 100% safe.
  16. Can we turn Gagne back into a starter?
  17. At the time, it was pretty adequate. And Suppan has performed according to expectations. But the thing is, most GMs are moving away from average pitchers - and are instead looking for more upside. No "average" pitchers got huge deals this off-season. For example, no one wanted Vargas for free. The truth is, a lot of average type pitchers can be replaced much cheaper with an AAA arm making the league minimum. Point being, no one was interested in Lieber this year. Two years ago he would have gotten 4 years and $30 million. Suppan is fine. So I can't say it was a "bad" signing. But has he really helped us win a lot? I mean, using Weaver instead of Suppan would cost us 2 or 3 games a year. In the meantime, we could invest Suppan's $8 million in another spot. (Such as extending Cordero, which would be worth more than 2 or 3 games) But then, that is all picking at nits.
  18. I forgot about Rolen. That would have been a pretty good move. At the time, I didn't want to give up Capuano AND Hall - but now that would be a good deal. I don't think Lidge's success was hard to predict. He was pretty good last year. But I didn't know he hated Milwaukee. And Houston might have been willing to trade him to us only because they thought he was done. I was also interested in Dotel as a closer. He would probably being doing better than Gagne.
  19. People in the vent thread has no use for logic or reason. But then, I suppose that is what makes it "venting".
  20. I keep telling myself that Inman is a limited pitcher who only projects to a #4 starter in MLB. And then Mass keeps posting those updates. D'oh!
  21. I wonder if that has anything to do with him batting behind the pitcher? I'm not saying it was a great call. But most managers make worst calls than that on a regular basis. I don't even hate Yost. And that play wouldn't even be in the top 100 things he did this year that upset me.
