  1. Looking at these projections, and reading other Brewer related articles - Am I the only one getting sick of the NL Central always being called the weakest division? I don't expect too much from the Astros or the Pirates. But I think the Reds, Cubs and Brewers all have a good shot at 85 wins. Everyone seems to be overlooking the Reds - but they actually have a ton of talent over there. Harang and Arroyo give them a good 1/2 punch. (They might add Blanton) Homer Bailey was projected to be better than Yovanni. Cordero vastly improved their bullpen. Votto is a pretty highly regarded prospect at 1B. Phillips is fantastic at 2B. Encarnacion is a pretty solid 3B. And an outfield of Dunn, Griffey and Jay Bruce might be the best in all of baseball. (The Reds scare me) For a frame of reference, Jim Callis the past two weeks has been asked questions about Jay Bruce. Callis loves Ryan Braun. He also loves Prince Fielder. Callis said he would take Bruce over either of them. That is some pretty high praise!
  2. I would have thought a few lawn chairs would have been enough to hold all of their fans.
  3. Seems like a lot of people get caught up in the money aspect of evaluating many players. (Mota costs too much. So does Gagne. So does Counsell. So does Vargas) But while I hope the Brewers exercise fiscal responsibility - it isn't my money. Given the choice of having Vargas or not having Vargas - I'll take him anytime. He would make a good long man and great insurance policy. Until the Brewers start passing on players (or letting players leaving via free agency) because of contracts given to the likes of Vargas there isn't any harm.
  4. They mentioned me!?! For the record, on ESPN.com chats this week - both Jim Callis and Keith Law where asked the same question; "90 HR combined for Prince Fielder and Ryan Braun - Over/Under?" They both took the under.
  5. Someone starts the year "injured" and on the DL until some team suffers an injury and trades for CV.
  6. Does that makes Weeks a AAAA player to you as well? Weeks has only put together very short spurts of success in the major leagues. You could very easily argue he hasn't proven anything. Apparently, you are not willing to accept that AAA should count for anything when judging a players worth.
  7. Thirded. Inman's star is starting to dull pretty good. Every report on him basically has him pitching well because of his control in the minors...but the "stuff" just isn't there. Most believe at best he is a #4 starter. Likely a #5 starter. To put that in perspective, Inman will be lucky to have as good of a career as Claudio Vargas.
  8. I don't mean to knock you personally or anything, but every time I see your screen name (Dmile23) I laugh. I mean honestly, D. MILES!?!? I always forget D. Miles exists until I see a new post from you. Anywho, regarding Dillon - I've noticed that as well. I hope that they are merely glossing over his name because he is such a given as a bench contributor. I think Dillon and Gross should be the first two pinch hitters off the bench for the Brewers. (Of course, depending on the pitcher) If Counsell, Gwynn or Kapler are getting more AB that Dillon - I would be fairly upset. And it's sad how accurate your Nunez/Gallardo comparison is. I would take Gallardo as a pinch hitter in that situation.
  9. Lots of people with rose colored glasses on... Devin Harris isn't very good. (Unless they started awarding points for "potential") And George blocking this trade is just funny.
  10. Oh, how the Bucks have fallen. If I had seen this earlier I would have been interested. Not so much for the Buck, but Chris Paul is great to watch!
  11. Wow. Thanks for the insight agent39. I'm kinda feeling pretty good today about my lack of baseball skills.
  12. Ok, so I am way to old to say that I have never voted before - but well, I haven't. I've never registered to vote. And obviously, I never voted. I would like to be able to vote in the Wisconsin Primary next week. (Notice how I am not mentioning any candidates because I don't want to turn this into a political thread!) I just want to know what I have to do. I found my polling place online. But do I need to register before hand? Or can I just show up to my polling place, based on where I live - and vote? Any help is appreciated.
  13. I'll miss contemplating what a bobblehead of Mench would look like...

  16. I have to imagine the ideal situation for MLB would be to eventually have 4 divisions in each league with 4 teams. Sounds familiar.
  17. Well, to be fair, I am sure you would see them every year with interleague play. I HIGHLY doubt this has any truth to it. While I hate being in a division with 6 teams, moving to the AL would make the playoffs much harder. (Plus, with at least a somewhat limited payroll - it is hard to spend money like that AL teams do)
  18. Because the Brewers need to sell tickets for the next 10 years. Not just this year. The Brewers need to be relevant every year to maintain a fan base. Their is significant danger is loading up for one year while mortgaging your future. I don't want to go back to a losing club. I would rather watch meaningful baseball every year than one championship run every 20 years.
  19. If you are 100% interested in buying - get a buyer's agent. Everyone has argued that the seller's agent is only looking out for the seller, but remember, the buyers agent will also be looking out for themselves. They won't get anything unless you buy something. So they will be biased in pushing you towards purchasing something. But again, if you already have decided that you are going to buy - don't go it alone.
  20. Wow. I didn't realize they made so little in the minor leagues. But then, I suppose $1500 a month with no expenses helps. I would love to see an in depth listing of what all of the Brewers farmhands do in the off-season. It would be interesting to see what all of their part time jobs are.
  21. Jim Zorn (New head coach of the Washington Redskins) looks a lot like Ned Yost.
  22. Nickels cost more to make than $.05 as well. Money used to belong to the holder. (Meaning you can deface your money in anyway you see fit) Now money is actually no long your property. The government made it illegal to collect pennies and nickels en mass for the purpose of melting them down to sell the metal. Thanks to spike in precious metals in the past two years - that was actually happening.
  23. The article itself is pretty poorly written. But the idea seems to be pretty solid. I have a feeling we are heading towards a 6-man rotation in the future.

  25. Best of the thread. That is some good stuff right there!
