  1. That doesn't look like Tecmo Super Bowl??. Mine is Mat Gamel. About 6 months ago everyone was including Mat Gamel in their trade proposals as a throw in - completely under valueing him in my opinion. So I set about driving the Mat Gamel bandwagon. Of course, now that Mat is getting some respect - it might not be needed. But I've kinda grown accustomed to it.
  2. No I think everyone here will agree that Villanueva is better than Vargas. HOLY CRAP! Sorry for that typo. I should have been banned immediately for posting anything that stupid! Yes, I obviously meant that Villanueva is better than Vargas. (cleaned up code --1992)
  3. To be fair, Ennder gave several specific examples of flaws he sees in your argument. Your counter argument has been that Capuano and Bush are no good - but with no data to support this assertion. (Although, I think everyone will agree that Vargas is probably better than Villaneuva)
  4. Ennder...thanks for dropping some truth. Villenueva has certainly performed well. But we have no indications that he will continue to perform well. Capuano was an all star. Bush has been very dependable and consistant. To say that Villenueva is better than Capuano, Bush and Suppan is a stretch based off of relatively small samples. Right now, Villenueva is the hot cheerleader in high school. Looks great and everything - but probably can't live up to the billing. However, I will say one thing for Villenueva that I have been impressed with. The kid seems to have ice water in his veins. Which, frankly played a role in his success in the pen last year.
  5. That doesn't make sense. After today's ruling, the cost of "buying out" Fielder's arby years just skyrocketed.
  6. I just want to chime in quick... As someone who eats very little meat, maintaining your protein intake is very easy actually. Milk Nuts/Peanut Butter Soy Products Protein Shakes Not eating meat should play no role in Prince losing muscle mass.
  7. Correct me if I am wrong, but hasn't Villenueva been pitching much better than his peripheral numbers suggest? Most scouts seems him as a #4 starter at best. And realistically a #5. I really like him. But I am not sold on the fact that he is more deserving than Bush or Capuano. (Keith Law today said if the Brewers are serious about winning then Parra should log at least 150 MLB innings)
  8. Wow. Weeks does look huge. But since no one else (JS at least) is reporting it, maybe I just never noticed before.
  9. If we haven't created an "Analogy of the Year Award", we should look into that. We have our first contestant!
  10. That's funny. I don't really want to see him on the major league club before September. But as a call-up, he certainly would provide that "pop" off of the bench.
  11. I was disappointed to see no mention of Melvin as well. But honestly, that article is so slanted towards major market teams it isn't fair. A team with a $200 Millon dollar payroll has very little in common with Florida. And I don't have a problem with Cashman on that list, only under the assumption that a lot of his moves may have been pushed from above. (Cashman has had to fight pretty hard to keep their minor league system in tact, and it looks like it will finally pay of this year)
  12. Thanks for the update. If you get to any more practices this year - make sure you keep us posted. Welcome Aboard!
  13. What is your motivation for remaining silent on the topic without giving further details? Last year we had the conversation about how someone met Doug Davis in a bar in Eau Claire and Doug was talking about how his arm was "cashed". It obviously didn't go anywhere. I don't think Doug hunted down the source and killed him or anything. Even if you heard that he engages in a particular dangerous activity (such as motorcross), that provides no real basis to assume that is how he hurt his knee. He may partake in activities that are not in his best interests - but that might be completely unrelated. You never said anything about hear that this particular activity was the cause. I'm with Team Canada.
  14. Capuano's fastball was down towards the end of last year.
  15. Man, how quickly people forget. Through May 7th last year, Capuano was 5-0 with a 2.31 ERA in 7 starts. So I would call that a pretty good stretch. Don't be fooled by his horrible luck down the stretch last year. He didn't pitch well in the second half - but he didn't pitch all that poorly either. I think Capuano has a decent shot at a 4.00ish ERA this year. He still could be a very effective #3 pitcher. (He was down on his velocity towards the end of last year. So if he regains that...)
  16. That is exactly the point! Thanks the increased interested in the Brewers, parking is in demand. They raised prices to actually drive some people out of the lots (or at least encourage car pooling). If more people want your product than you have to offer - raise the price. Like I said, Brewers games offer lot of opportunities to not pay for parking. I think pretty much every bar on Bluemound has a shuttle. Not to mention, it really isn't too far of a walk from Bluemound and Wisconsin.
  17. Ok, fair enough. How much do you pay to park at a Bucks game? It has to be between $15 - $25 right? How about Marquette? I know I've seen The Rave parking lot charging $25. I paid $20 to park for a Wave game once. I do believe those are all still Milwaukee - are they not? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  18. Actually, I think throwing the ball down into the basket is more impressive than dunking. Do you realize how high you have to get to have the correct angle to get the ball through the hoop like that!?!? Not to mention that he had to make it just perfect to not have that ball deflect out to half court.
  19. Honestly, complaining about parking prices is pretty funny to me. Try parking at other stadiums. Do you know how much you are going to pay in Boston and New York? Not to mention, it is very possible to park for free and still attend a game at Miller Park. The Brewers are still very affordable entertainment - and a great bang for your buck.
  20. About a week ago I was watching a program on Fuse about Nickleback. It was basically an interview with Chad Kroeger talking about them coming up and hitting it big time. Anyways, they were talking about their first hit "How You Remind Me". So Chad was saying they couldn't figure out what made that song so good. So they talked to tons of people, just fans after fans about it. Trying to figure out what exactly made that song such a success. Well, I don't remember exactly what it was. But Chad listened and learned and pinpointed 3 things within the song that were needed to be a huge hit. He then explained that they write songs to capture those three things in every song. So their songs are completely "by the numbers" with no real risk or ingenuity. Lets put it this way, if you could teach a computer to write a rock song, it would sound the exact same as a Nickleback song. On a side note, I saw Nickleback years and years ago at a small venue in La Crosse open for Caroline's Spine. Even then, Kroeger seemed like a jerk. He seemed legitimately pissed off about opening for Caroline's Spine. (Even though everyone at the concert came for Caroline's Spine and had never heard of Nickleback)
  21. Exactly what I was thinking Chuckie. Nice job begging for an audit this year! He is advertising that he makes up to $12,000 a year without paying taxes. If anyone from the Department of Revenue reads that - he is going to find a nice chuck of his profits gone this year.
  22. Looking at these projections, and reading other Brewer related articles - Am I the only one getting sick of the NL Central always being called the weakest division? I don't expect too much from the Astros or the Pirates. But I think the Reds, Cubs and Brewers all have a good shot at 85 wins. Everyone seems to be overlooking the Reds - but they actually have a ton of talent over there. Harang and Arroyo give them a good 1/2 punch. (They might add Blanton) Homer Bailey was projected to be better than Yovanni. Cordero vastly improved their bullpen. Votto is a pretty highly regarded prospect at 1B. Phillips is fantastic at 2B. Encarnacion is a pretty solid 3B. And an outfield of Dunn, Griffey and Jay Bruce might be the best in all of baseball. (The Reds scare me) For a frame of reference, Jim Callis the past two weeks has been asked questions about Jay Bruce. Callis loves Ryan Braun. He also loves Prince Fielder. Callis said he would take Bruce over either of them. That is some pretty high praise!
