  1. Actually, I wouldn't be surprised at all if the Brewers tried to sqeak Bush and Capuano through waivers. If I am correct, they can option them down to AAA (Since I believe they both have options). In order to be sent to AAA, they would need to clear waivers. If any team puts a claim in on either of them, however, the Brewers can pull them back - as long as they keep them on the 25 man roster all year. So they could try to get them through - but it is almost pointless, since teams will surely try to claim them. Well, for starters - it is more important that Parra can pitch in October than April. So you can't use all of his innings and eliminate him from possibly contributing in the post season.
  2. How about Hart's production so far? (34 at bats and 13 K) I am becoming concerned with our lack of home run production. Prince, Hart, Hardy and Hall all have yet to hit a home run. Even LaPorta hasn't hit one yet. You can preach small sample size all you like - however, as a team (going off of 549 at bats so far) we would be on pace for only 141 Home Runs in a season. (Compared to 231 last year) Is hitting a home run in Arizona that much more difficult? I would think as pitchers are rounding into shape and working mostly fastballs we should be feasting.
  3. Let's face it...The Brewers are not going to construct their pitching staff based on talent. I know many poster will harp about the inequities, but the truth is, we need to consider play costs, options and inning limits. For example, Capuano is more likely to make the MLB squad than Parra because Parra is younger, has options (that do not require his clearing waivers) and doesn't have an inning limit (which Parra will). But lets assume you could throw all of that aside - how would you construct the Brewers pitching staff this year? Starters #1 Sheets #2 Gallardo #3 Parra #4 Villanueva #5 Suppan (Gets the nod over Bush, Capuano and Vargas based on his leadership and his bat) Relief Pitchers Stetter Shouse Riske Mota Turnbow Torres Gagne
  4. Watching a collision in no way indicative of the serious of a potential concussion. Koskie barely hit his head - but his brain got smacked around. Cameron smacked the head out of his head, but we have no way of knowing what his brain did. A hit on the head does not equal a concussion. I am actually surprised by how many people are quickly jumping on Cameron's side. The facts are what they are. He missed significant time after his injury. He isn't on record of complaining about any post concussion syndrome (that I know of) until now. He test positive twice for a banned substance. Now he is looking for an exemption to take banned supplements. In addition, Ash was surprised by the notion that he was using his post concussion syndrome as his logic behind the exemption. (Not to mention, what supplement is going to fix post concussion syndrome?) "I never heard of (the neurological test)," added Ash. "It has not come to my attention. I knew he was going to try to get the therapeutic use exemption but I didn't know he was using his possible post-concussion syndrome to get it." Asked if the club had concerns that Cameron might be suffering post-concussion syndrome - a malady that appears to have ended the career of former Brewers third baseman Corey Koskie - Ash said, "None." (Since Ash was in charge of the medical program - if Cameron really has post-concussion syndrome...shouldn't Ash be at least somewhat concerned) Plus, Cameron applied for the exemption - and now doesn't want to talk about it. Cameron sounds like a great guy. I am legitimately excited about having him as a Brewer. But how does this not sound fishy?
  5. Not saying this is related to Cameron... But I know one of the issues Congress had with the MLB drug policy was the ability of certain players to "bypass" the system for "medical" reasons. If you have attention deficit disorder you are able to take my stimulants that other players aren't. That seems reasonable. The problem is that the percent of players in MLB with "attention deficit disorder" is significantly higher than the regular population. So some players may take advantage of the loophole. My only concern with Cameron is that I am not away of any supplements that would help post-concussion syndrome. That sounds kinda odd.
  6. Just got my 20-pack in the mail. Kinda different this year. Last year was just a stack of tickets. This year, each seat is in a calendar type set-up where you have to rip out (along dotted lines) the tickets. I got my extra opening day tickets about a week ago.
  7. I can't imagine the Sox giving up much. There are still free agent options available (Lohse & Weaver). While those aren't great options, they might be enough to hold them over until they get a healthy rotation together. And lets face it, the Red Sox would rather pay a free agent than give up a prospect.
  8. I can't imagine it not being Munson. Munson certainly seems to have an advantage over Rivera. (While Rivera has had pretty good success with the Brewers - his minor league numbers are not very impressive. And he doesn't do much defensively) In addition, Munson is LH. So to me, the only other choice would be Munson or Rottino. Since neither are likely to play much (Fingers crossed), I think you send Rottino back down to AAA to get regular work and keep Munson at MLB. There isn't enough of a difference between the two not to send Rottino down.
  9. I am not saying he is a legitimate prospect - but he certainly seems to fall in line with Zack Jackson. Maybe you never want him as a top #5 starter, but he certainly seems like he might become a decent #6 or a long man. (ala Helling)
  10. Is it still too early to be excited about Chris Narveson?
  11. Wayne's World.
  12. Just got back from spring training... Maryville is a great complex. I saw the March 6th game against the Mariners. The Mariners sent their B squad - and the Brewers pulled in around 3000. The biggest problem with the Maryville complex is the location. It is very much hidden. It is in a poor neighborhood. But the biggest problem is that it is too far from retirees. Most of the retirement communities are located south and east of Phoenix. Maryville is northwest. If the park was located in Mesa, I believe the attendance would improve significantly.
  13. My first ever spring training game and I get to see Sheets vs Hernandez. Talk about lucky.
  14. Agreed. I think Parra might be the 3rd most talented pitcher on our squad. But he can't pitch 200 innings this year. It would be irresponsible. If he pitched 150 innings - I would like to see at least 125 of them with the major league club.
  15. I was told that U-Verse will have FSN-HD as well. In case anyone is going that route.
  16. I'm just saying lets not go overboard every time something minor happens. As Brewer fans, we will have a hard time enjoying the ride if we fret every detail. Hall is probably the 4th or 5th best offensive player we have. He also has backups in Dillon, Nunez and Counsell. (Remember, Hall was benched quite a bit at the end of last year) Also, having this happen on the 1st day of Spring Training would be ideal. He would have the most time to heal. But, I suppose this is the price of 24/7 access and information. Better too much information than too little.
  17. Wow. I would have thought we were being attacked by the Russians. Did everyone really expect the Brewers to be injury free the entire year? No team has the luxury. Calm Down.
  18. I caught that quote right away as well. From what I've heard Braun is very confident. Which, lets face - it just a nice way of saying he is pretty cocky. As long as the Kid puts up a 1.000+ OPS (And doesn't start kicking puppies or the elderly), I don't mind a little swagger.
  19. I found that way funnier than I should have...
  20. Seconded. Very nice read. Well thought out - and insightful answers. Speaking of the minor leagues...is there going to be an updated P50 before the start of the season?
  21. You might be right. But if we have the money to spend - having as many quality players as possible is a good thing. I don't think it is fair to judge too much based on costs. There is no way you can know what we have to spend. Maddux was supposedly pretty excited about the idea of obtaining Mota. I am really excited about Mota. Torres is also coming off an injury plagued season. So I don't know that Torres would have prevented us from trading for Mota.
  22. Walker did it in 1997. Bichette did it in 1996. (However, Colorado had Ellis Burk with 30/30 in 1996 as well) So you had the right team, just the wrong two players.
  23. I've often wonder (Especially in down years), do you think the Brewers prefer not to have a minor league team in Wisconsin so that they don't have to compete with them? I mean, during a 100 loss season - wouldn't a quality minor league team with a few potential stars take attention away from the major league club? Plus, by putting affiliated throughout the country - you are developing your fan base. I assume Brevard County has a lot of Brewer's fans.
  24. I give him a B. Overall, I am happy. However, obtaining Fukudome (and keeping him away from the Cubs) would have been an A. I can't think of any other moves that would have been feasible that I wish he had pursued.
  25. Now you are just putting words into my mouth. I never said we should sign Corey Hart to a multi-year deal. I just said he sounds like he might be open to the idea. (As opposes to Prince who gave the "I let my agent handle that business" response)
