    If he agrees to playing 3rd for a season, then Melvin might take the run at the Series, with Prince and Hardy in their final year. Isn't next year only prince's 2nd year in Arby? Prince has 3 more years, including this one. He's a brewer until 2011. JJ's last year is next year.

    Is the draft date set in stone? I know its going to be difficult to get 16 people together at one time, but just wanted to know if there would be any discussion on it.

    That's why Hardy is a great 2 hitter because he sees pitches and can bunt. Maybe I don't remember correctly, but I really don't remember Hardy bunting very often last year. Pitchers Per Plate Appearance 2008 Mike Cameron - 4.24 Bill Hall - 4.22 Rickie Weeks - 4.14 JJ Hardy - 3.97 Ryan Braun - 3.96 Prince Fielder - 3.89 Jason Kendall - 3.62 Corey Hart - 3.47 I think that Mike Cameron would actually be our best 2 hitter.     I think sbrylski's point is that FAs are pretty much always a bad deal by the end of their contracts.

    thats true but when you bat leadoff as opposed to 8th, you will get an extra AB almost every single game. By that argument, we should just bat people in order of how good they are, basically ranking them by OPS. Braun Fielder Cameron Hardy Hart Weeks 3B Kendall Pitcher

    I getting really sick of that statement. You are the leadoff hitter ONCE a game. The rest of the game, you are just a hitter.

    It is really hard to tell. Even though I haven't seen him personally, he's facing pitchers when they are just getting into pitching form and facing a lot of minor leaguers. From what I heard, Uecker said he put on 25 pounds, that couldn't hurt. Don't look too much into SP production.

    My point was that a leadoff hitter isn't necessary. Its just about having a solid lineup top to bottom.

    While it is pretty apparent that this team doesn't have a clear leadoff hitter, I really don't think it makes a difference. Its been pretty well documented that lineup structure means very little over the course of the season. Anyone going to be doing Play-by-Play? It really sucks that I can't get radio in my office.
