  1. Since he arrived in Milwaukee I have been hoping for Mench to get moved for just about anything. I just don't like him as a player. Never have.
  2. Milledge I suspect will be part of a trade to get a front line starter sometime in July. I will be honest with you I really don't want to trade Capallen in the NL. This guy still has a ton of ability and has seem to lock in at Nashville. He simply needs work. I would hate to hand the Mets their stopper for the next decade.
  3. There will be a team that has a vet arm or bat availible at some point during the season. I assume that Yo and Braun are essentially untouchable unless the Brewers have a chance for a real impact player (an all-star in his mid-20s like Cabrarea along Willis for example). Most rebuilding teams want prospects and it is obvious to me to get anything of value you might have to include Inman in a trade. Guys like Mench and Gross have very little real value, Would you be willing to give up an Inman for a "quality arm"?
  4. There is no way the Brewers take J.P. Arencibia with the 7th pick. I think they are going to take a impact bat with the pick.
  5. Spurling is the test case for why ERA for a reliever has no meaning.
  6. That is not difficult at all. No!!!!!! Our CF, 2B and best pitching prospect in a decade for Santana. He only can pitch once4 every 5 days and he not only is going to be a FA but he has broken down twicw in the last three years.
  7. Melvin got Capellan to be his closer of the future. You ride Cordero but you keep Capellan. The spanking of Capellan has been administered for coming to spring out of shape and not ready to pitch. Now the secodn spanking for behaving like a spoiled 4 year old is being administered. Capellan will contribute before the season ends. He is a very valuable player and to trade him for a bag of spare parts would be stupid. Melvin isn't stupid.
  8. Don't worry about Capellan. He isn't going to be traded. He was sent down to Nashville to send a message and he knew it. He reacted like a brat and the Brewers have decided to give him another spanking. I am certain of several things and one is when he gets called up he will listen to everything he is told by the coaches from now on. The message has been sent and he will be here about the same time that Spurling gets sent back to AAA where he belongs. Capellan was sent down because he had started to take things for granted. He showed up not in the best shape, he hadn't worked on the things they wanted him to during the winter, he was babying his arm in spring as if he had already made the roster. He is a talented guy who needed to have a bit of urgency introduced into his life. This isn't a bad thing.
  9. If the Brewers make a major trade it will be with an AL team that needs a OF bat and the guy they will trade will be Mench. If they move Mench it will only be for a LH arm for the pen... The names I have heard is the Yankees, Red Sox and Angels.
  10. I mean guys there is no way the Royals trade Grienke. The guy has one of the best arms in the AL, and the Royals have no reason not to be patient with him.
  11. Maybe I am wrong about this but isn't drafting a pitcher always high risk, whether HS or college. Isn't the failure and attrition rates for HS and college pitchers essentially the same? However, the successful franchise have depth of pitching up and down the organization. If you see a special arm on the board when you pick doesn't logic say you have to take that player, whether a HS or college pitcher? In fact there was a BP article recently making the point that drafting college pitcher was a high risk proposisiton.
  12. The franchise was picked bare by MLB and then sold. A lot of teams owe the Nationals a thank you card for the talent that was bled from this franchise over the last 5 or 6 seasons.
  13. What exactly is the benefit of this trade to Tampa. Also, it seems like a lot of you guys fall in love with players and try to figure out how to get them. Badelli and Ensberg are OK players but Hall has a chance to be an AA. Why trade him away for a couple more guys.
  14. I don't hate Wise but I really don't like the fact that Shouse is our left handed option out of the pen. IF there was a way to move him plus one of our spare outfielder I would be estatic. I know lefthanded pitchers are at a premium but that us my biggest wish item right now. Shouse concerns me.
  15. Why? How is he an upgrade from Jenkins?
  16. What is the point of another 4th OF. We collect other folks spare OFs like some old ladies do cats. These guys are 4th OFs for a reason.
  17. Vincente Padilla I agree with Buster Olney, the best arm on the FA market. Still young and no arm problems but a guy who has underachieved on a bad team.
  18. I hope the Brewers don't bring Burrell to Milwaukee. He plays in the top hitters park in baseball. Plus, if Gillick is looking to move him it will be for young quality pitching.
  19. No one is worth it. We only want perfect players. I mean Jesus for a fan bases which cheers for a team that hasn't been with 10 games of a playoff spot in two decades you guys certainly have some high demands for what constitutes a Brewer (or very low expectations). ManRam is 1.5 good seasons form being a sure fire Hall of Famer. I think the guy is a hideous OF but his bat is worth that of any two Milwaukee Brewers.
  20. A-Rod isn't going anywhere.
  21. The best thing about Pierre which I haven't seen in any of the comments about him is that he actually can field the position he plays. Something you can't accuse many Brewers of.
  22. I guess the question that needs to be asked is how confident in the folks who player evaluations for the Brewers? Crawford is still a guy who is developing. He has the tools on the surface to be a star. This is about the ability of a GM or front office to evaluate talent. Just like in the case of the pitching prospects we have at A and AA. Often projecting has nothing to do with success in A ball. I don't know the answer but it seems to me that this highlights the fact that the Brewers need a first rate front office to succeed. Because rarely are they going to be in on guys who have already put up 1.000 OPS, they have to find guys who have put up 0.800 OPS who they can project as stars. There are no sure things for the Brewers. Prospects and players with ability who they can project, and not guys the GM drafted in a previous stop, have to be the targets of this franchise. I know I am stating the obvious, but either you sign a FA here or there that is a sure thing or you have to be exceptional at player evaluation.
  23. ManRam is an awful OF. If we could use a DH sure.
  24. Where is Jenkins going to play in Chicago?
  25. Cano sees nothing in the Yankee lineup. I bet he hasn't seen a breaking ball since April.
