  1. Does anybody know when the lottery draw is being held for the 1st round? I thought the deadline was over and they'd make an announcement soon as to the winners?
  2. hey there delilah has just been getting too much airplay...stuck in my head.
  3. Got something against center fielders there trwi? I personally would like to see Cliff Floyd take one in the ribs.
  4. Cordero apparently threw low and inside to Lamb last night, the first pitch after Cecil Cooper wanted a closer inspection of his band for foreign substances. Cordero stated, "Sometimes they do that to put something in your mind in a close game, to see whether you can handle a situation like that. But I don't think about that," said Cordero, who added he didn't throw at Lamb, but said if he wanted to hit someone, he "can do it, and I'm going to do it real good." Not wanting to see anybody hit in the head, what MLB player wouldn't you mind getting a 99-mph fastball HBP? And secondly, does Lamb deserve it considering it was his manager being the bonehead in the first place?
  5. I'd have to say STL, because if push comes to shove, we can control our own destiny by playing STL in the final week.
  6. I'm going to say 90% correct. I guess the best option everyday is starter just goes CG and then we don't worry about the rest of the non-sense. It seems to get gray when you start considering how many pitches a guy throws in a week or series of days. Is Cordero still the best option if he's already pitched 3 consecutive days and 70 pitches? Just a thought, without having it directly relate to Monday, because that wasn't the case.
  7. But the point at which I just don't understand you is why you don't care whether or not your manager plays his best option. I do care, but I care more about the players on the field performing, it's just how I feel. I'm not going to whine and boo a manager and call for his firing because he went with a different option. Again, I'm neither yay or nay. Another other manager could come in here and fritter away games too if his players don't perform up to his decisions.
  8. I caught the last two seconds of the sportscenter scene and swore I heard something about squirrels being sent into Yankee stadium by slingshot? Anybody know what happened?
  9. Amen, DJ. I'm getting sick of being told how crazy I am. Lcbj, your point on how a difference in percentages (an example of something over which a manager does sometimes directly affect) is negligible is just plain off. Your throw-away of a ten-point percentage gap in either way is exactly why you aren't understanding why the critics have beef. A .330 hitter is a significant upgrade over a .250 hitter, so why would you want your manager to either stick with or sub in the inferior player - or maybe better stated, why wouldn't you be upset if he did so? Again, I wasn't talking about the manager making a substitution or not. I said [i'm neither yay or nay. I'd rather watch the players than armchair manager.]. I didn't say there isn't an advantage to being a .330 hitter as opposed to a .250 hitter, of course there is. But then again, where's our .330 hitter? All I was saying was I don't feel the need to get upset at a player when 67-77% of the time, they fail anyways. And if that player does fail, why is it AUTOMATIC that the other option on the bench was going to work, when maybe their percentage of failure was 10% less. It's NOT AUTOMATIC in my mind. This YOSTED business is silly. Because the other option isn't AUTOMATIC is why I don't place any wins or losses directly on the manager. Case in point, on another day, Acquino could have been lights out and Cordero could have come in and given up a 3-run jack, it's up to the players to perform as they are capable.
  10. I'm neither yay or nay. I'd rather watch the players than armchair manager. There is no 100% method to any move, it's much less percentags in baseball like simple batting averages. somewhere between 25 and 33% of the time, the guy will come through. It's up to his performance if he does or not. Sometimes he does, sometimes he doesnt. In the case of hitters, I can't get bent out of shape if he doesn't, because averages tell me he doesn't 67-77% of the time. If a manager's decision fails, surely the other option would have worked statement simply doesn't work for me.
  11. Wikipedia link on tiebreakers Coin Toss. Now what happens if all 3 tie, i have no freakin clue.
  12. 2 outs left **cough***
  13. I'm never posting here again.....banishing myself from the IGT threads entirely
  14. Hunter Pence goes Yahtzee!! Astros lead scrubs 4-0
  15. Interesting to note that Kazmir has turned it around and has a winning record for the rays. While living in Tampa, it's about the only time I wanted to attend a game is when he was on the mound.
  16. I'm posting this thread, just because I'm happy to report that Houston has knocked off STL today 2-1. 2nd Place is Safe...Now go get those Cubs.
  17. I'm not for an in-season change, just to change. I've always believed that a coaching change doesn't stop Dave Bush from hanging breaking pitches for home runs.
  18. Maybe it affected them mentally, but I think that is a poor excuse. It appears to be poor preparation (Maddox) and poor decision making on the pitchers (like Dave Bush pitching to Molina, not once, but twice with two out and the pitcher on deck only to get taken yard both times). This team can't catch a break and it starts with the pitching. I don't think fatigue is any issue, they just aren't pitching well. I'd hate to say that it's Estrada's game calling, because I don't think the results have been any different with Miller behind the dish. Couple that with less than average defense leading to more unearned runs and you have a bunch of losses.
  19. I think I've heard enought about patterns and what the pitchers are "supposed" to do. It's time to win...period!
  20. Which lot is the players lot?
  21. The 3 games handed down is probably a part of knowing it is going to be made lower by appeal. Similiar to the maximum penalties set by the courts for crimes. If you want a guy to serve 2 years in prison, you give him 5 and know by the time he takes a deal it will end up being 2 years.
  22. I think it is funny how many of my fellow posters want to place even partial blame on the umpire. The instigator was Prince Fielder for running his mouth as he was walking away. There is no responsibility on Bell's part to just stand there and take the verbal abuse. Then Prince turns around and decides to continue to try and get the last word and again turns to walk away. Bell ejects him and walks towards him. Walking toward the player is NOT an aggressive move on Bell's part, he only wanted to make sure Prince could hear him as Prince kept trying to run away after getting the last word. Mr. Bell was doing his job, Prince should have been doing his like a professional and walked back to the dugout to have a seat. Mumble something under your breath as you walk away if you want, but don't expect to try and show up an umpire and then get in his face after the ejection. As an umpire myself, I wouldn't have expected any less from Bell.

  24. Yes, I agree with everything above. This username belongs to my fiance (he was my boyfriend before the game). Thanks so much "Pedro" for the tickets, and all the little extras. Everything was perfect, and hello, I was at a Brewer game which was more than enough for me to begin with. Everything worked out so well, the other guys were cool that you gave tickets to, and it was a great time had by all. My boyfriend bought a bat with an inscription on it for us to remember the night he proposed, and we went to Friday's Front Row for dinner and a celebration afterwards, and got a picture and a signature on the bat from Ryan Braun while we were there. Great guy, great time, and just a great night. I can't thank you enough.
  25. Very nice site 20Fry, the first time I've checked it out. So...what lot is the players lot. Is that the lot right around the corner from the right left corner, just off miller park way as if coming in from national ave?
