  1. Anyone in 2015. I really want to do this soon. For anybody that has been, I live in Utah and really need nothing to do with their stock flight arrangements from Milwaukee. Does anybody know if the cost will be reduced if the flight is not needed? For anybody that has been...what hotel do they use?
  2. I'm looking to take the wife to the Packers/Patriots game and will be travelling from Utah with another couple. I know this is the final weekend of deer season and so I'm wondering if anybody is selling their tickets or knows of a method of obtaining them without the 300% upcharge on the secondary market. I need 4 together. Thanks in advance if you are selling or know of a reasonable offer out there.
  3. Normally, no they wouldn't. But when the Owner males a statement that the entire coaching staff including RR are being evaluated at some point you need to announce the conclusion. So he can't just say nothing, if RR is back he'll need to say so in some way. I politely disagree. EVERY YEAR, Mark A. makes an annoucement that the entire process will be evaluated. Players, coaches, front office, concessions, janitors. RR and his entire staff get evaluated every year. The only annoucement that will happen is a non-announcement (RR not getting an extension). Unfortunately I suspect that will last until June, when the Brewers play over their heads again and he gets a mid-season extension to end his lame-duck status.
  4. But what is the return on that $15M? We know it isn't a playoff berth, so maybe 3 wins above replacement? I'd rather take the 3 losses and watch Jason Rogers hack it for a year and $10.5M less. Save the money for when Lara and Co need a veteran bat to make the difference. Renting Aramis Ramirez for 1 year at 15.3M is like leasing a satellite radio for your 1992 Ford Taurus. Yeah, you got a nice selection of music to listen to, but your still overpaying for the same service that FM radio provides and oh yeah...you're still driving a 1992 Ford Taurus. I'd rather listen to the cheap FM radio and save the money for the day my whole ride is upgraded. This team needs some fresh tires and probably a new transmission. The radio can wait.
  5. Agreed. LET HIM WALK! I couldn't give a hoot about some draft pick compensation for declining at QO. It's way too big a risk in my opinion. Most here seem to want to go young. I just think that $15M can be better spent. A-RAM is a good player and I enjoyed his time in a Brewers uniform, but I don't want him back at $15M. I really don't want him back at $14M and I hope he declines his part of the option. If not, I'd almost be okay with the Brewers declining their half and just giving him $4M and consider it a bonus for his production over the life of the contract. We may not get an All-Star to man 3B in 2015, but $15M can go a long ways when our farm talent begins to mature. There is no need to spend $15M in 2015 when A-RAM being the best option makes us a 82-80 team instead of a 77 win team. I'd rather go 77-85 and pocket $15M to be spent over a few seasons when we can really compete.
  6. Can Yasmany Tomas play first base?
  7. Cincinnati Bengals DL, Devon Still, gaining press for his daughter's fight with cancer as well as his fight to make the Bengals roster is apparently a Brewers fan. He was donning a Brewers cap (ball and glove logo) during a a primetime feature story on NBC. Either that, or the ball and glove logo is popular and he knows nothing about the Brewers.
  8. Melvin gets a vote of confidence and is safe for 2015, per Todd Rosiak. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/09/nl-notes-brewers-marlins.html
  9. My understanding is Broxton is paid $9M in 2015 and has a $9M mutual option w/ $2M buyout in 2016. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/08/brewers-acquire-jonathan-broxton.html
  10. 4 Brewers Wins / 5 Giants Losses.....Lets Go!
  11. There are only 22 total players in all of the NL that have an .800 OPS or better. Per the mlb.com page, Braun has the 13th highest OPS (for the whole year) amongst all NL outfielders. So that means there are 32 outfielders that haven't hit as well as Braun this season that teams have trotted out there to start this season. Even with his last half swoon and baggage, I would bet that he would get more than a 1 year deal for $8M if he was on the market as a free agent. And the truth shall set one free!
  12. +Infinity If I want to go watch the AA team, I'll move to Alabama. You can't just keep flipping prospects over and over and over and over and over and over and expect that voila, one day they'll all just pan out with talent to last for 10 years. I'm fine with the way the Brewers have done business over the past 10 years with the fiscal resources that they have had. I also don't believe that I as a fan, even if I were a season ticket holder, am owed a championship. I'm not owed anything for my loyalty as a fan.
  13. I realize it's not the popular option, not by a long shot. But people would get used to it.
  14. http://www.springtrainingonline.com/milwaukee-brewers-spring-training-may-move-florida/ From just this past winter. Dunedin would be spectacular. Arizona is too congested. Ballparks on top of one another. For all the hollaring about our "sad franchise", perhaps this could help spur a culture change. Shake it up!
  15. Why do baseball players have to be pegs put into specific molds? Hit the ball when it's your turn in the lineup. I guess that sounds overly simplistic, but it's kind of opposite argument some make around here for pitchers. "The 8th inning guy" "The LOOGY" "The 7th inning guy" "The Closer". Don't we hate when the manager makes roles for pitchers? Why is it different for hitters? That makes me crazy. I realize there is a lot of hand wringing over Braun's power, but I could care less about those things. Braun needs to get on base whether he hits 3rd, 8th, 5th, or 1st. If Braun can no longer hit for power because of his injuries, I think he is professional enough to be successful without needing a lineup change to prod him along.
  16. Brewers should eye Florida. Cactus League Blows.
  17. The only arguments that I keep reading to justify the Milwaukee Brewers being a "sad franchise" is the on-field product and the general manager. It's been discussed ad nausem for years just now under a different title. This is all about whether Doug Melvin is the man to create a winning team and that's a horse poo take alone to label it a "sad franchise". This franchise has a lot to proud of. Criticize the general manager in a different thread, this franchise isn't a sad one.
  18. While I've said all year that the Brewers played over their heads and were probably closer to a .490 baseball team, the fact of the matter is that this team will probably finish the season 6th of 15 in the National League. Regardless of what the other teams in their division suffer as far as injuries and what hot streaks they had, this team was the 6th best in the NL in terms of record. Let's not pretend that this team is anything near what the team was like the decade Pre-2003.
  19. To me, this is just another Melvin thread disguised with a dramatic title to get us to get fired up about something that isn't really true. You can argue about Melvin all day, but I'll take exception to the calling of my team a "sad franchise". I'm proud of the Milwaukee Brewers as a franchise. This franchise was turned around in 2003 and has been heading in the right direction for the past 11 years. Suddenly, the sole judge of a good franchise is the on-field playoff series record of it's general manager? The argument whether Doug Melvin is the right man to take the on-field performance from a contender to a champion can be and has been debated ad nausem. But this franchise isn't a sad one. The Milwaukee Bucks to me are a sad franchise. Take that attitude to BucksFan.net.
  20. I don't believe R. Goodell or the NFL had seen the elevator video. R. Goodell hasn't been shy about punishing players in the past and I highly doubt there was some grand conspiracy cover-up to benefit Ray Rice. I'm definitely in the minority, but I believe the 2 game suspension from the NFL was enough. Ray Rice should have been dealt with by his employer and once the video came out and Rice's lies to the Ravens and the NFL were exposed, they acted accordingly. At the time of the 2 week suspension, all that was known was that Rice committed a misdemeanor that the D.A. dropped and the victim and Rice both interviewed before Goodell and he made his decision after the Ravens failed to clean up their own problem. What difference would it have made if he got a 4 week suspension or a 6 week suspension or a 10 game suspension? It wasn't until the lie was exposed that the Ravens acted and acted swiftly they did. I'll continue to assert that this is a Minnesota Vikings problem and not an NFL problem. The only time Goodell and the NFL need to step in is when the teams fail to take care of their own house.
  21. Would Brewerfan.net shut down over a team scandal? The Vikingsfan.net equivilant has decided to do just that over the AP situation. Radisson, their major sponsor (seen on all their press conference bunting) has also pulled out. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown-corner/vikings-message-board-shuts-down--disgusted-by-both-team-and-fans-141959347.html
  22. I'm only 32, but when were the days that stuffing leaves into a child's mouth was acceptable discipline? What exactly did that teach them?
  23. I am due for a new work phone and have to make a decision by Sept 24th. I have had the HTC One X for the past two years and am satisfied with Android phones and the google play store. That said, I am eyeing the M8, Note4, G3, or Iphone6. I am NOT an "Apple Guy", but for those that are, could you explain why I might want to reconsider becoming an "Apple Guy" again? I had the original IPhone and wasn't terribly overwhelmed with my experience to continue. I think the Google PlayStore is a far superior ap market compared to apple or windows. I am leaning towards the M8, but wanted to hear from an "Apple Guy" as to why I should go back?
  24. To be fair, it wasn't even a suspension or recorded discipline. It was simply he wasn't on the active 45-man for the game. I knew the Vikings wouldn't have the cajones to take action. They'll hide behind the "let due process of the courts..." talk for as long as neccessary. Ray Rice was fired for a misdemeanor on an adult that wasn't even filed by D.A. If AP isn't fired from the Vikings for a felony on a child that was filed by a grand jury of his peers, I'll be outraged.
