  1. http://i.imgur.com/seh6p.gif It'll only take a week or so longer than I anticipated.
  2. He made good moves to acquire good players. An "all-in" approach to me means you lose significantly if it doesn't work out. "All-in" to me means do or die. Utter collapse if it fails. If CC or Greinke failed, it wouldnt have met those requirements, IMHO.
  3. Can't get these guys out of town fast enough? We're already window shopping?
  4. Ditto that. Do some even know what "all in" means? I've never seen the Brewers go "all in", as I understand "all in". Having lived in Florida for most of my adult life, I've seen the Marlins go "all in". Going "all in" to me means lots of 1yr contracts at prices more than value, acquiring lots of players via trade by trading away superstar prospects, etc. I've just never gotten the impression that the Brewers have ever been "all in". I agree that the Brewers build themselves to be just competitive enough every single year, without ever being so "all in" that they are an overwhelming favorite for the division, let alone the NL. It seems everything they do is aimed at being at the top of the 2nd tier, if that makes sense?
  5. While this run is disappointing, I just think it is the regress to the mean that should have been expected all year. This is probably a .490 baseball team that for 4/6th of the season has played .490 baseball. The fact that they have been in first place all year and had a great April is a treat. Having them being in playoff conversation on Sept 4th is a treat. One just can't lose sight that they are probably a .490 baseball team. However, like the playoffs, these series' are must win at this point. I'll take 3-1, but I'm guessing we probably go 2-2. This team has overachieved and I don't see the point in firing people that have turned a .490 team into a .510 team when all they did was simply regress to their expected mean during a few disappointing stretches.
  6. Having frittered away the entire cushion...the Brewers enter September all square atop the NL Central. Pittsburg sits 2 games back. 3 @ Chicago N (Turner; Arrietta; Hendricks) 2-1 4 vs Saint Louis (Masterson; Lackey; Lynn; Wainwright) 2-2 4 vs Miami (Penny; Koehler; Cosart; Evoladi) 2-2 3 vs Cincinnati (Latos, Axelrod; Leake) 1-2 3 @ Saint Louis (Lackey; Lynn; Wainwright) 0-3 3 @ Pittsburg (Locke; Volquez; Worley) 2-1 3 @ Cincinnati (Cueto; Latos; Axelrod) 1-2 3 vs Chicago N (Hendricks; Wada; Wood) 2-1 26 Games (12-14) Final Record of 85-77 Saint Louis 16-10 Final Record of 89-73 Pittsburg 13-13 Final Record of 84-76 Atlanta and SanFran secure the Wild Cards. Milwaukee sits home after playing .480 ball for 5/6ths of the season.
  7. STL will beat MIL head to head. A 1.5 game lead will be gone in a matter of 15 hours once we face them. Have to start winning or they can probably kiss a meaningful post-season goodbye.
  8. Just got in and turned on the tube. 8 hits in 2 innings. Wonderful, just wonderful!
  9. Well played Sir, Well Played! (Bigger news) :clap clap:
  10. Perhaps the Brewers put in a claim with a bogus offer, not to acquire him, but to block him from some other team. Maybe the real interest was nil. Not likely, but we just don't know. The real shocker here to me is that he got all the way to the Brewers on the waiver wire order.
  11. +Infinity. That worthwhile post was a joy to read.
  12. Every player has flaws. Every player will decline in their career and earn more at the end of their career. There were years Ryan Braun made significantly less than he was worth and nobody said a word. There is going to come a point when he earns significantly more than he is worth. It is what it is.
  13. I've been saying that for a page and half. But it probably won't happpen until the masses give up any notion that it should be anybody but Overbay/Reynolds. Presumably mid-October.
  14. Wainwright staked to a 4-run lead. I guess that about decides that. STL just has a cake schedule the rest of the way. I'd be shocked if they miss the playoffs.
  15. My favorite Robin Williams film is Jakob the Liar. He will be missed.
  16. I've only been to 1 game there. I took the train in from the MOA parking lot and that made it extremely easy in and out. I remember quite a bit on the plazas outside the gates, but nothing real memorable inside the park. Nice sight lines though, I enjoyed the game itself.
  17. [cool story bro] Florida restaurant that had newspapers above the urinals. [/cool story bro] Beef O' Brady's or Alehouse?
  18. We have 123 HRs and have scored 184 runs on them, out of 523 runs (35%) Other teams with 100+ HRs: COL 207 R on 135 HR, 561 runs total (37%) CHC 177 R on 111 HR, 461 runs total (38%) PIT 160 R on 108 HR, 511 runs total (31%) WAS 166 R on 104 HR, 499 runs total (33%) and StL, fewest HRs in the NL: 120 runs on 80 HRs, 445 runs total (27%) Soooo, do the Brewers rely on the home run? Seems like less than others and more than others...average. But definitely not significantly more than others to go on and on about it for 20 minutes.
  19. Brewers broadcast lamenting on and on about the "Brewers relying on the home run". Is this true? Where do the Brewers rank on runs scored via home run?
  20. I understand that the 20 win stat is like RBI's. A lot depends on other factors. But which would one rather have? A 15 game winner with a 2.75 ERA or a 20 game winner with ANY old ERA? It just doesn't mean what it used to. I didn't even remember that Capuano won 18 games and likely won't remember Peralta's W-L record 18 months from now. The only thing I'll remember is did he get outs in August and September when it mattered most.
  21. What will it mean when he does? Are we rooting for this? Do we want his FA price to rise?
  22. This conversation seems repeated from 6 weeks ago...then it was quiet for 4 weeks...and now it's repeating again. Seems to be the ebb and flow of a major league season.
