1. I personally don't see anything resembling a Braun likeness.
2. I'm inclined to say no. There are 7,000 fixed seats + the berm and the Brewers only draw on average 5,200 at Maryvale. God forbid there by a sellout, i'd bet the secondary market is teeming with alternatives.
3. I'm sitting in the arena in Salt Lake and I'm almost considering walking out. I've never seen a more uninspired group of play than this Milwaukee group. 30 turnovers at the half in this one. And not a single reaction by Jason Kidd. Their season must be all smoke and mirrors. I don't see how they are 5+ .500. ----- Continued from: viewtopic.php?p=931710#p931710 Original Lead: viewtopic.php?f=67&t=31570
4. K-Rod's signing today contains $4M in deferred money which makes his base salary seem more than swallowable at $3.5M & $5.5M respectively. However, it seems more and more the Brewers are deferring money on their contracts. Braun, K-Rod, & Ramirez, IIRC. While it makes the annual salaries look good, eventually they'll be paying $10M + to guys that aren't even on the club. What's the point of this and do you see it being a problem for future fiscal health of the organization?
5. It's really not a big deal. It's just spring training. I've been to Arizona and I've lived in Florida for 11 years. I don't see the problem in getting around to the parks in Florida and I've never once been rained out. Seems dramatic I guess. :Shrugs: If the final answer is Florida, it'll be just fine.
6. Didn't he get a 18 months for cocaine in the past or perhaps 162 games? The 18 game suspension must be be unrelated to drugs. Maybe he failed an alcohol breath test. Still, I don't understand Rosenthal dramatizing it by saying it's worse than PEDs.
7. Per Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal First violation results in a warning, next four triggers a series of progressive fines. Length of possible suspension is not specified. · 1h 1 hour ago According to sources, a player can be suspended for just cause on his sixth offense if he displays “willful disregard” of the rule…
8. Hayes looked like hot garbage vs Maryland. He'd better not perform like that again if this team wants to make a deep tournament run. I reckon any shot at a #1 seed is gone even if they run the table and Gonzaga loses.
9. "I think someone pointed out that we're not getting the Lakers pick this year as they're going to be in the top. You're then banking on them being bottom 6-7 bad again next year to make it worth it. Have to think they'll add players next year and approach .500, this is the Lakers, they're not going to suck for long. They might strike out again in free agency but I wouldn't bank on it." This...I want nothing to do with that middle 1st rounder in 2016. Honestly, even if you get extremely lucky and it's a #6 overall in 2015, I don't want to bank on the Bucks actually hitting on that pick. For these reasons, the Bucks having a "bird in the hand" wasn't even close with regards to the Lakers pick, let alone an asset worth lamenting over "losing".
10. I dont like it. 1. So they are going to hollar out what they want challenged across the diamond? Will a phone be utilitized...or does the crew chief have to walk all the way over there to have a discussion? The original method worked fine. 2. Are we really nitpicking the nano-seconds it takes to get one foot back into the box instead of 2? 3. I don't like less time between innings. That is less time I have to grab a snack or restroom break and not miss much action. That is less time my kids get to view the between innings contests or side entertainment (t-shirt tosses, etc). Overall, I guess I'm in the minority, but I don't have a problem with a 3:00 baseball game. My life won't be anymore complete with a 2:50 baseball game.
11. The discussion could have been between Phoenix & Philadelphia for the 1st round pick + for MCW, but perhaps Phoenix decided they didn't want MCW, so they got Milwaukee involved for Brandon Knight? Perhaps Milwaukee didn't want the pick and instead wanted an asset. We just don't know. Stating matter of factly that Milwaukee could have been sitting with the Lakers 2015 First Round pick seems disingenous.
12. We don't know that offer was available. They could have possessed ALOT of things. I think the Lakers will finish 4th in the lottery in 2015 and keep their pick. I think through free agency and other moves, they'll finish around 16th in 2016 and that pick will be around 14. I'm not thrilled with that kind of return for 14 months of Brandon Knight assuming he didn't get away in RFA. I don't see the bad in MCW. Rookie of the Year and when healthy, posting 17/7/6 on average on a bad basketball team. His shooting percentage leaves something to be desired, but as a point guard, he seems to have accomplished everything that's been asked of him in Philadelphia.
13. The pick was never the Bucks asset. It went straight from Phoenix to Philly and was neccessary to reach a 3 team deal. Sure it was. Phoenix only got a player from us. We could have easily cut out Philly and taken Ennis, Plumlee and the pick. It was a deal between us and Phoenix and we then flipped that pick to Philly for MCW. No, that's not how it works. Milwaukee was never in possession of that asset. It's nice speculation, but we don't know that to be true. I don't know that I would have wanted the Lakers pick in 2016, Ennis, Plumlee for Brandon Knight. (It appears the Lakers can't fall any further than 7th in the lottery for the 4th worst record and getting 6th or 7th odds are less than 10%, so they likely keep that pick in 2015.) Why give up an asset in Knight for some mid 1st-rounder in 2016 that likely won't contribute significantly until 2018, if at all? Instead, they got an immediate asset.
14. Officially, per the Bucks.com press release: ~~To Phoenix~~ G Brandon Knight (From Milwaukee) G Kendall Marshall (From Milwaukee) ~~ To Milwaukee ~~ G Michael Carter Williams (From Philadelphia) G Tyler Ennis (From Phoenix) C Miles Plumlee (From Phoenix) ~~ To Philadelphia ~~ 2015 1st Round Draft Pick (From Phoenix via Los Angeles Lakers) **If Lakers don't fall in top 5 of the lottery (becomes a 1st rounder in 2016 IF Lakers don't fall in the top 3 in the 2016 lottery) ~~ To Waivers ~~ Kenyon Martin (From Milwaukee) Kendall Marshall (reportedly from Phoenix) I don't see any complaints in the deal. MCW is doing very good things in the NBA in just his second year coming off a Rookie of the Year award. The Bucks gain two years of control with MCW over Brandon Knight before they need to make a decision on an expensive contract. I'm liking this deal, especially if word comes that resigning Knight was not happening, from the Bucks or from Knight himself.
15. The pick was never the Bucks asset. It went straight from Phoenix to Philly and was neccessary to reach a 3 team deal.
16. I guess Kendall Marshall is also headed out to the Suns as part of the deal. Per Chad Ford.
17. If we are acquiring 3 players for 1...who gets removed from the active roster? Max is 12, yes?
18. Working their GD butts off and being Spurs-Lites. If Sanders puts the weed down & becomes good/serviceable, and we make a smart trade we have a shot at the conference finals IMO with how wide open the east is. Speaking of a smart trade....I live in Utah and apparently Enis Kanter is demanding a trade out of town...any interest from Bucks fan?
19. It wasn't my intention to remove their hot streak. The most telling argument to me is that they played .470 ball for 5/6th's of the year. Unfortunately, I think the talent assembled is a .470 baseball team.
20. I heard on an ESPN radio broadcast last night that the Bucks (w /30 wins) have their most wins at the break since 1991. That's a little surprising to me. Not living in Wisconsin anymore, why is this Bucks team so successful and what is their ceiling in 2015? A first round upset? All of this without Jabari Parker. Is it Kidd? Is it luck? Is it the schedule?
21. I'll give my predictions below this, but I'm wondering why everybody has Milwaukee in the playoffs, let alone a few predicting a World Series run? This is the same team that minus a nice April played .470 for 5/6th's of the season that returns basically the same roster. Anyhoo, if I'm laying in Vegas... AL East - (2)Baltimore, (5) Boston, New York, Toronto, Tampa AL Central - (3)Detroit, Cleveland, KC, Chicago, Minnesota AL West - (1)Oakland, (4) Los Angeles, Seattle, Houston, Texas NL East - (1)Washington, Florida, New York, Atlanta, Philadelphia NL Central - (3) Saint Louis, Pittsburg, Chicago, Milwaukee (74-88), Cincinnati NL West - (2)SanFrancisco, (4) Los Angeles, (5) San Diego, Colorado, Arizona ALWC - Boston over Los Angeles ALDS - Boston over Oakland, Baltimore over Detroit ALCS - Boston over Baltimore NLWC - Los Angeles over San Diego NLDS - Washington over Los Angeles, SanFrancisco over Saint Louis NLCS - Washington over SanFrancisco WS - Boston over Washington in 6
22. Worst off-season of the 32 teams, per Joel Sherman. FWIW. "The White Sox and Brewers have had the best and worst offseasons, respectively, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post. The White Sox were aggressive but conservative in spending their financial flexibility and did well by not surrendering any top prospects to acquire Jeff Samardzija. The Brewers, meanwhile, are not good enough to compete in the NL Central now or in the near future and should have either made a big play for a free agent like James Shields or turned over the roster on a grander scale than just trading Yovani Gallardo."
23. I agree with this. So many impressionable young athletes out there that could benefit from somebody articulating what he feels. It's not the answer that's important, it's the image. It's called "Being a Professional".
