1. Access the router homepage.... depending on the brand. Typical linksys is 192.168.1.1
2. I don't see the obsession with Henderson. I've got a feeling he never gets a chance to close another game in his career. I think he'll end up being just a guy. To me, a ceiling for Henderson seems to be a solid 8th inning guy at this point.
3. Suppose the Brewers had Tulo. Would you play him at 3rd?
4. Astonishing how much easier STL's schedule is the rest of the way. I'll be fine with 5-5 HTH vs STL, but they got nothing but schmucks other than Pitt and Milw.
5. This is the kind of move I'd prefer at this year's deadline. Something that helps us beyond 2014.

7. Cardinals, Pirates, Reds...all losers. Tick one off!
8. Pirates were even with the Cards...still 58

10. I don't think you can worry about "where's he gonna hit in the lineup" with any acquisition. You get talent and then send him up to the plate at any slot really. Do we have a problem if Napoli hits 6th and Davis 7th instead of Davis 6th and Overbay 7th? Napoli can hit 7th for all I care. The point is to acquire talent at the right price. Did Matheny fret about hitting Gomez 9th in the ASG? Having too many bats doesn't seem like a problem I'd spend analyzing the batting order for more than a minute. That said, I don't see the Brewers spending $16M on a first baseman in 2015. Nava makes the most sense as JohnBriggs pointed out.
11. One of these things is not like the other.. One AL team?
12. I think you should be made whole on whatever your damages were. I would personally ask to be compensated the value of the cleanup, a beach towel, and possibly any interior car detailing that had to take place. While you did save somebody (likely an insurance company and the employee or perhaps workmans comp) the cost of an ambulance trip, the decision was yours to agree to take him in your vehicle and so I wouldn't personally ask to be compensated for missing work. That was your decision to drive him instead of calling the emergency number. I don't know the costs of the garage work, but if it were my company, I'd offer to comp the entire job for free because of your character in how you handled my employee. I would imagine something like that would go a lot farther for me and my company strictly on the word of mouth than the profits of a single job.
13. I realize this is football related, but this forum gets more traction than LambeauLeap.net and I need guidance with a quickness. Do opposing teams playing in Green Bay still typically contract with the Paper Valley in Appleton? Hitting the Patriots game in November with the Patriot-fan wife and want to up her odds of elbow rubbing. TIA.
14. If this were the Brewers, this would be deemed unclassy by the Cardinals and their fans. http://m.mlb.com/video/v34677917/sealaa-rodneys-early-arrow-rallies-angels
15. The contract doesn't bother me. He took a hometown discount so to speak and was being paid peanuts while playing at an MVP level earlier in his career. The fact that he earned less while deserving more early in his career and may very well earn more while deserving less later in his career evens out for me. If he can play another 6 years hitting .290 with 20 home runs a year, I'll take it. I'm willing to bet that 5 years from now, $19M per year doesn't look as expensive as it does today.
16. Or just lock it because it's about the Cardinals and I don't care about them and don't want a thread dedicated to them (whether it be about them scuffling or not) at the top of the board every damn day. There was a point about a week ago where 12 of the top 20 topics had been started by DeadSimmons w/ a Cardinals connotation. I'm waiting on the day where the forum color scheme is red and gold, I'm sure it's coming.
17. Agreed. Maybe enough to miss next week's contests?
18. I completely agree. I think this ballclub played over their heads at .600 for much of the season. I think they are a 80-84 win team fighting for 3rd or 4th place. That said, they are in a position to make the playoffs for the 3rd time in 7 years and I don't think they should make the MLB team worse and squander that opportunity. The Brewers don't need to be the best team on paper to win a world championship and so I'm okay with that. I know a lot of people out there get upset when the best team on paper isn't the champion, but not me. Get to the show and see what happens. But I think they can be sellers of marginal talent in exchange for something of value down the road. If somebody came knocking down the door for one of our relievers in exchange for a Nick Delmonico, I'd be all for it.
19. I think the strain on the arm is actually less for bullpen pitchers, despite less hours of rest in between. The reason is that bullpen pitchers rarely pitch to the point of tiring. Per several sports medicine articles, the arm becomes stronger, with less fatigue and less strain when multiple sets are made with short rest in between. Think of a weight-lifter. What builds strength and diminishes strain better? Doing 3 sets of 15 reps with 90 seconds of rest in between every other day OR a single set of 45 reps only once every 5 days? I don't see any added strain going from the second example to the first example. Sure, the routine is different, but Smith's arm isn't suddenly more strained and tired from pitching 1 inning every other day insted of 7 innings every 5th day. I concur that we don't know why Thornburg had a problem. I would love to see Smith have less appearances in the interest of staying fresh. I just don't know if I would go out of my way to ensure it.
20. Smith is a guy that they were looking at being a starter, IIRC. To the point of pitching him 200+ innings. Pitching every other day to the tune of 87 innings doesn't raise red flags to me at the MLB level. 12yr old adolescent, sure. Adult? Not so much. I don't have a ton of concerns about the bullpen and it's usage in being a detrimental contributor to the 2014 playoff chances.
21. Jeff Todd has reported that Nelson cannot not qualify for Super2 status. That's an awfully big assumption. He may be right and I have to believe that Melvin or somebody working for him is keeping track of service time of the players likely to be in the same arby year as Nelson. If it was a straight service time thing I would agree but it goes by percentage. While it's certainly a fluid situation in what is going to equal 22%, the lowest ever over the past five years has been set at 2 years, 122 days. Nelson has 28 days of service time before his Saturday callup. So assuming he gets 2 full years over 2015 and 2016, that leaves him 94 days of leeway in 2014, to approach the LOWEST mark over the past few years. The anticipated number is 2 yrs 128 days. So 31 days in August, 28 days in September, and 19 days in July would give him 2 years, 106 days...which is 16 days shorter than lowest ever over the past 5 years (2, 122) & 22 days shorter than the anticipated amount. I don't see the fludity reaching 2yrs, 106 days to call Jeff Todd's reporting an awfully big assumption. The data is there to suggest that 2 yrs, 106 days is plenty safe. •2013: 2.122 •2012: 2.139 •2011: 2.146 •2010: 2.122 •2009: 2.139
22. Over the past page and a half? No. There were several matter of fact statements over the roster rules that were not true. It's been clouding the conversation over what the Brewers can do with Wang with respect to the 40-man roster.
23. Don't let your opinions cloud the rules however. He would have to be injured again in September if they don't want him on the playoff roster if there is nobody else on the DL at August 31. I'm not cloudy on the rules. That is the exact scenario I was describing. It would be within the rules for Wang to be placed on the DL at some point in September due to "shoulder tightness" or some other injury. Then, at the approval of the commissioner, Wang could be replaced by ANYBODY who was in the Brewers system on Aug 31st. It makes the most sense to activate Wang in August, so that he could be placed on revocable waivers and see if there is any trade interest in him. That doesn't mean that he has to pitch any more than he has the past 3 months, but in terms of 40-man roster management, it's a smart move. Simply leaving Wang off the 25-man roster until September, over fear that he'll be on the 25-man playoff roster, just isn't valid. Within the rules, there are plenty of options that have Wang a contributing member of the 40-man roster and even the 25-man roster in August and September without worrying about the playoffs.
