  1. I just don't like the idea of a Gamel/Escobar starting left side of the infield in the midst of a pennant race. Therefore, I'd subscribe to the theory that Hardy goes nowhere, atleast until the offseason. However, Buchholz is an intriguing idea and we do need a SP. What are the thoughts of what Escobar could fetch from the Red Sox or somebody else? Either standalone or with other prospects/major leaguers, perhaps with a Billy Hall dump, etc.
  2. Have to agree on the Kendall comments. Not to mention the failures of Macha to again manage the bench when it came to Kendall's hitting debacle in the 9th inning. Everybody and their mother knows Kendall is a ground ball machine, yet he leaves them in there when Rivera has more propensity to lift or drive the ball. Of course, a GIDP ensued. These are games the team should be winning, very frustrating to hang this one on the bullpen when they didn't really deserve it.
  3. Thanks Ken Macha. Wasnt' that Villy's third consecutive day of work? Then sits on his rear while Villy gives up hit after hit after hit when Trevor could have came in. If the bullpen is going to continue to be an asset, it'd be wise for Macha to manage it somewhat decently like he did the first 6 weeks of the season.
  4. I'm guessing a player currently somewhere between A+ and AAA.
  5. Obviously there is still 60% of the season left, maybe more, but do they give out MVP's or Cy Youngs to relievers. If Hoffman ends up with a line of 40/40 in save opportunities, 4 wins 0 losses, an ERA of 0.00, a whip of .33 and a K:BB of 70:5, does he garner enough votes? Has a closer ever won those awards?
  6. Awesome Job Guys.
  7. I get saving money as well. But not everybody on the roster can make under 1M. Why can't Hardy be the paid veteran on this team? If you subscribe to the philosophy of shuffling out everybody when the replacements were ready, you'd see Gwynn over Cameron, etc. Eventually you have to have some veterans who are going to eat some payroll. I can't subscribe to the "philosophy of the revolving door".
  8. Where do you guys get your addresses for non Brewers players?
  9. Escobar doesn't thrill me. I'm probably in the minority. I'm not worried about the shortstop in 2011. Whether it be Hardy, Heether, Escobar or a free agent. I doubt we run 8 guys out on defense. I'd rather send Escobar away for pitching. Again, I'm the minority, but sometimes...that's okay.
  10. That sounds like overpaying for Cain. Isn't Cain the #3 there? I don't see the Brewers giving up their #3, their top prospect and an additional 2nd tier prospect just for Matt Cain.
  11. No, without statistics in front of me, from my memory, all I've seen Gerut do is ground out weakly to the 2B on about 5 out of 6 occassions. I've seen Gamel take the ball the other way, I've seen him lift the ball the other way, seen him lift it for power to the gaps. Certainly a better opportunity for, at the minimum, moving Hart up on a deep fly ball the other way But we wasted him in the 6th inning, batting him with 2 outs and nobody on, down by 3, instead of waiting for a potential higher leverage situation later. When Gerut came up, did anybody else have that feeling of an easy GIDP if Hart wasn't stealing first pitch? I dont want to go over the strategy of this one particular game, that belongs in the IGT. But Macha is certainly mismanaging the bench in my opinion and that starts with not having the right guys on the bench in the first place (due to starters that shouldnt be starting)
  12. Macha needs to get this figured out ASAP. He cost us another one tonight in my opinion when he failed to handle his bench appropriately. He used Mat Gamel way early, down by 3 with 2 outs and nobody on base. Meaning he had to go with Gerut with Corey Hart on first base, down by one with no outs in the 9th inning. I was livid when Gamel was used up way to early. Just figures that we did indeed need Gamel up there in the 9th instead of the 6th. Sure would have been nice to see Gamel, who can stroke the ball a bit and goes the other way well in order to try and move up Corey Hart. With Gerut's weak hitting, I had a feeling if Macha didn't try and steal Corey, it'd be GIDP. Bottom line is I'd like somebody to be given an opportunity at the full time job, preferably Mat Gamel. With all the shuffling he is doing to accomedate guys, it just ends up with Macha mis-managing his bench later in games.
  13. This is about the same time Dave Bush got sent down last season with an ERA of 6+. I disagree with the notion that he needs more time to figure it out. Figure it out in a Sounds uniform.
  14. That would mean moving Riske to the 60-day DL? If we move Riske to the 60-Day DL...does that open a roster spot on the 40-man roster for a move from AAA? Can a roster spot be made here by involving Riske? I dont want to lose any of our hitters to bring up a pitcher, as I dont think they are going to do anything with Julio, stubborn as they have been with veteran relievers in the past.
  15. I said the same thing to my wife, and we almost went to this game tonight, but had a softball game that I couldn't miss. Had I made the game, I would have been yelling into the dugout for sure. And with only 1,000 people in attendance, I'm sure I would have been heard. "Jorge Julio" in a 2 run game? My wife thought I was going to jump through the television the minute my rear end left the recliner. Then when Macha left him in after the first two batters reached, I was even more livid. I just went ahead and hit the triple fast forward on the DVR and couldn't watch. I told my wife, book it 7-4 by innings end and sure enough. I haven't said one time all year that a "loss" has been pinned on Macha, but this one sure seems to be. All these posts about him being gone from the roster, I wouldn't hold your breath. The good news is, he wasn't expected to be a late inning guy, so I doubt Macha makes another mistake with him, even though Melvin will leave him on the roster until atleast July.
  16. I guess I am in the minority on this one and perhaps my opinion has swayed a bit given the other posts. I didnt expect him to go to the other extreme and poo-poo his own team by any means, that's not what I was saying. I just think something along the lines of, "The got the better of us this weekend, but I think we are a good team and can hang with them. We just made mistakes, but it's going to be a fun pennant race as I think we have just as much talent as they do." That certainly reads a lot better to me than, "We're a better team than they are." But I guess I am in the minority and that's ok this time.
  17. 4 @ FLA (3-1) Suppan, Parra, Looper, Bush 3 @ATL (2-1) Gallardo, Suppan, Parra 3 vs COL (2-1) Looper, Bush, Gallardo 3 vs CWS (2-1) Suppan, Parra, Looper 3 @ CLE (2-1) Bush. 18. That about sums it up for me. You just got swept, yet you want to brag that you think you are the better team? I don't have the interviewer's question in front of me, but I would bet it was an unprovoked response. It just seems a lot like the pip squeak that wants to pick a fight with the bully. The bully puts him in his place and as the pip squeak walks away wounded, he spins around and yells to the bully, "yeah, I'm badder than you and I'll whoop your expletive next time." Phillips doesnt have to give anybody a "poor me or poor us" routine, just leave town quietly and try to get some wins in the next series rather than giving your opinion as to who's the better team. Telling the media you lost because the Brewers were less talented, they just did the "little things" is pretty dumb. Not to mention, if you consider the little things, scoring runs and getting 27 outs, than yeah I guess the Brewers did do the little things.
  19. Per the Recap story of today's game, Brandon Phillips believes the Reds are a better team than the Brewers. http://jsonline.stats.com/mlb/recap.asp?g=290531108 I don't want to seem holier than thou about my own team, but this statement reeks a little bit of being a sore loser. I think the Brewers have a better lineup, the bullpens are about even, the bench is about even, and the Brewers starting pitching has performed better, though the Reds may be a little more talented in that department. What are you thoughts? Buying the Reds are a better team than the Brewers?
  20. As somebody else suggested...I'm sure Gamel is working on things before games with Major League coaching. That in itself may be more valuable than game experience at AAA.
  21. Jonathan Sanchez or Matt Cain seem interesting to me. Though I think it would take more than Hart to bring Cain over.
  22. Seems like you have a good team, but seemingly tough to string any consistency together when guys can't commit weekly to that 1 hour. Miss all you guys. Good luck the rest of the way.
  23. I don't recall the ticket booth number, but it is in the center just to the general south of Helfaer Field. It is a specific window only. For a Sunday game, I would recommend getting in line approx 3 hours prior to game time. That is just before the lots open up. That means 90 minutes of waiting in line. I believe the limit is 1 per person, possibly 2, but definitely not more than that.
  24. 6 game suspension for Zambrano. Would force them to push his start back 2 days.
  25. Funny Stuff. My wife gave me a weird look when I burst out laughing.
