  1. Ned didn't run Tavarez out there for a second inning? Wow. Please get out of this inning, Sal.
  2. #50 reminds me of Chris Spurling. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif I hope Tavarez can get a clean inning here, at least.
  3. They initially called it a triple. Acta argued, the umps got together and changed the call to a HR.
  4. This deserves a haiku. Russell The Muscle Lefty power bat, baseballs Obliterated
  5. http://www.comcast.net/data/2005/04/11/bin5068.jpg Welcome back, Russell. It all has come full circle. And for fun, A stroll down memory lane.
  6. Woot. Sadly, if one of TGJ or Kapler had to go, Kapler has vastly outperformed TGJ so far. Not to say he'll keep it up, but this move makes too much sense to not be made. From the JS Blog: Manager Ned Yost said the left-handed-hitting Branyan will start at third base Sunday against the Nationals in place of Bill Hall, who has had trouble hitting right-handed pitchers this season.
  7. Everyone has rocket arms in this game except for user controlled outfielders, it seems. LOL I just had the most exciting game of my season against Baltimore. It was a duel between Dave Bush and Matt Albers. 2-2 in the 7th inning I had the infield in because there were runners on first and third, a ball was hit directly to Craig Counsell who was playing third, Counsell bobbled the ball and it rolled into foul territory, allowing the run from third to score. I was down 3-2 going into the 7th inning when with a runner on second Tike Redman stole a potential HR by Mike Rivera. The runner moved to third and later scored on a wild pitch. The score was 3-3 after the 9th inning. I had Manny Parra on the mound cruising along until the 12th inning when he gave up a 2-run HR to Melvin Mora. Fast forward to the bottom of the 12th, George Sherrill is on the mound. Rivera doubled, moved to third on a PH flyout by Hall. Weeks singled Rivera home. Graffanino PH'ing for Counsell grounded to first, moving Weeks to third (I'd stolen second). That brought up Braun, who with a 1-2 count on a fastball in the top right portion of the strike zone served the ball to right field and eek'ed it over the wall into the visiting bullpen. That was a pretty awesome ending. Drama, drama, drama. :D
  8. That definitely seems plausible. Even so, if they are going to soft platoon Hall with Counsell, Branyan makes a much better choice in that instance, depth-wise. As a bench player Branyan probably won't get close to 300-400 AB's this year (and if he does, that means the team has probably gone into the tank anyway or someone is injured and he's playing every day), but in the 150-200 or so AB's Branyan could see I believe he could contribute to the team more than any other guy on our bench could with that amount of AB's.
  9. In the JS blog about why Branyan wasn't called up, Ned was quoting as saying they liked their bench and flexibility right now and that is the main reason they didn't call Branyan (or anyone else) up for the interleague series. He also hinted that they had no thoughts of platooning Hall (going as far as to say "We have Billy at third base", which is mostly fluff talk, but I digress), but even in the past week that has been proven to be false. We all know what we'd be getting with Branyan. He wouldn't magically make us start winning, but considering the current state of our bench where the best shot we have for a HR in late innings is Mike Rivera, who Ned will very rarely use as a pinch hitter (and has a whopping 11 career home runs), Branyan has some value. If needed, Branyan could also fill in at 1B and LF, which while that is mostly Joe Dillon's job, it would be helpful to have another guy who could do it (and it could create some nice platoon opportunities where Branyan could face a RHP if Ned decides to give Braun a day off against a RHP). I personally believe the addition of Branyan to the bench would help our team offensively more than anyone else on our bench currently does with the bat. At this point what does it really hurt to try?
  10. That'd be pretty sweet, but I don't know if the baseball world would be ready for that. It might create a black hole in the baseball universe where all that is wrong becomes right.
  11. The Pirates just got rickroll'd. Nice. ... I'm kind of scared we're winning in PNC. lol
  12. This is reminding me of the Ricky Bottalico experience. lol
  13. January 21, 2002: Traded as part of a 3-team trade by the Milwaukee Brewers with Lou Collier, Jeff D'Amico, Mark Sweeney, and cash to the New York Mets. The New York Mets sent Lenny Harris and Glendon Rusch to the Milwaukee Brewers. The New York Mets sent Benny Agbayani, Todd Zeile, and cash to the Colorado Rockies. The Colorado Rockies sent Craig House and Ross Gload to the New York Mets. The Colorado Rockies sent Alex Ochoa to the Milwaukee Brewers. Baseball reference for the win. Also, ugh.
  14. Mike, you have now erased the run differential you may have cost us. All is forgiven, for now. LOL
  15. We run ourselves out of an inning with Prince up? Nice. Cameron must be sleepwalking tonight.
  16. I remember being really angry when he traded Blanco for Paul Bako. Yes, that Paul Bako.
  17. Indeed we did. I had 3 before anyone else showed up. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif
  18. This is more from the conspiracy theory department, but I'd guess if they were going to fire Yost today they made the decision last night, so Melvin really wouldn't need to be around today. Plus considering how vocal Yost was about not wanting to call anyone up for the interleague series, if Yost is gone then maybe he was the one holding up the proceedings as far as calling up Branyan or someone else who could help the big league bench, which would make sense with Doug venturing to Nashville today.
  19. The hitting would get a C at best. The stranded runners like mad and were killed by strikeouts in key situations. They hit better than their season average (sadly), but that doesn't give them a pass for overall poor play.
  20. One of the things I like about Braun is he's willing to speak his mind win or lose and tell it pretty much like it is. No sugar coating, no doom and gloom, just the facts. I still think most people will look to Prince to be the leader, but if Braun keeps performing as he can do that may change soon enough. The organization obviously feels he can be a centerpiece and leader as they made it a priority to lock him up early.
  21. Yeah, I get the feeling if we lose tomorrow and don't win at least 4 of 7 in Pittsburgh and Washington Ned won't be the manager when the team returns to the Keg. That said, I'm not sure how it will help half our team finally break .250. lol
  22. We're only 3 games under .500, even though it feels like we are at least 10 games under. San Diego, Cleveland, and Washington have lower team batting averages than we do. We've had the second most save opportunities in the Majors which means we have late leads! (We've blown 9 of them . . . http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif) Of all the players with official at bats, only three don't have base hits.
  23. I hate that glitch. I did get a glitch this time where they made me warm up pitchers for the computer, LOL. In my game Prince Fielder is on a home run tear. He has 10 HR in 4 games. My offense was rolling until I ran into Kevin Slowey who shut me down for 7 innings but ended up getting tagged with the loss after Weeks sac filed home Counsell (who was Slowey's responsibility), Gross hit a 2 run HR and Fielder followed with a solo shot effectively blowing my save opp. Thanks a lot for the tip on L2, I've already used it a few times to circumvent the game giving me Prince on a ball hit to JJ Hardy.
